“Salvation had always been open to the Greeks and other Gentiles throughout all the Old Testament Era, as you will find indications of in both the Law and history of the Old Testament. Gentile believers amongst the Jews were called "proselytes," which is proof that the Kingdom was always open to them that believed, regardless of nationality or racial background, that these things had absolutely nothing to do with their Salvation, and that there had been no change at all in God's plan to save "whosoever among you feareth God.”D. (Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God. Acts 13:43)
God's initial plan was not one of exclusivity, but was actually inclusive, not as it may appear today. The following verses bring out this point very clearly.
“Behold, I have given thee for the covenant of a race, for a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation to the end of the earth.” Isaiah 49:6
“My righteousness speedily draws nigh, and my salvation shall go forth as light, and on mine arm shall the Gentiles trust: the isles shall wait for me, and on mine arm shall they trust.” Isaiah 51:5
“And the Lord shall reveal his holy arm in the sight of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation that comes from our God. Isaiah 52:10
Go through my gates, and make a way for my people; and cast the stones out of the way; lift up a standard for the Gentiles.” Isaiah 62:10
“And the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and they shall rest on their land: and the stranger shall be added to them, yea, shall be added to the house of Jacob.” Isaiah 14:1
Here are some verses on how one would convert and how some did convert from being a Gentile to becoming an Israelite.
“And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, This is the law of the passover: no stranger shall eat of it. And every slave or servant bought with money—him thou shalt circumcise, and then shall he eat of it. A sojourner or hireling shall not eat of it. In one house shall it be eaten, and ye shall not carry of the flesh out from the house; and a bone of it ye shall not break. All the congregation of the children of Israel shall keep it. And if any proselyte shall come to you to keep the passover to the Lord, thou shalt circumcise every male of him, and then shall he approach to sacrifice it, and he shall be even as the original inhabitant of the land; no uncircumcised person shall eat of it. There shall be one law to the native, and to the proselyte coming among you.” Exodus 12:43-49
“And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following thee; for whithersoever thou goest, I will go, and wheresoever thou lodgest, I will lodge; thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.” (Ruth 1:16)

And it shall be, if they will indeed learn the way of my people, to swear by my name, saying, The Lord lives; as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then shall that nation be built in the midst of my people. Jeremiah 12:16

COMING SOLAR ECLIPSE SEEN AS 'JUDGMENT'
Event on 1st day of spring estimated to happen only once every 100,000 years

A solar eclipse coming on March 20 won’t just be an astronomical wonder – it will be an event that may be unprecedented in human history, according to biblical experts who say it is an unmistakable sign of judgment.
Root Source Ltd., which provides Christians access to Jewish teachings online, reports the eclipse will darken the sun just in time for the sunrise at the North Pole, where it will be visible for two minutes.
It will happen both on the first day of spring and on the first day of the Jewish religious calendar, the beginning of the month of Nisan.
Such an astronomical event only takes place once every 100,000 years, experts said.
In an exclusive interview with WND, Root Source co-founder Bob O’Dell pointed to the significance of an eclipse visible from the North Pole at this particular time.
“The North Pole can’t really be called the territory of any particular nation or people,” O’Dell said. “This is likely a message from God to the entire world.”
He also believes the path of the eclipse is significant.
“The total solar eclipse continuously hovers over water and ice. I’m reminded of Isaiah 11:9 – which tells us that ‘None will harm or destroy another on My entire holy mountain, for the land will be as full of the knowledge of the LORD as the sea is filled with water.’”
Root Source co-founder Gidon Ariel, an Orthodox Jew, is calling for people around the world to pray for two minutes starting at 10:18 a.m. Greenwich Mean Time. Ariel will be praying at the Western Wall in Jerusalem at a time of day that Jewish tradition reserves for prayer in the Temple.
In a written statement, Ariel commented, “While a worldwide call to prayer is not typical for Jews like myself, the concurrence and rarity of this natural event, together with the times in which we live, points to prayer as being the right response to such an amazing natural event that might indicate the finger of God in history.”
The solar eclipse is already causing concern even in the secular world. The vast majority of the sun’s rays will be blocked in Europe during the event, and experts are warning of possible power shortages in nations that rely heavily on solar power.
Pastor Mark Biltz, author of “Blood Moons: Decoding the Imminent Heavenly Signs,” sees a heavenly warning in the consequences of the eclipse, especially for the northern Europeans, who will be most affected.
In an exclusive interview with WND, Biltz explained, “In Jewish tradition, a total solar eclipse is a warning to the Gentiles and a sign of judgment on the nations. When we look at where the darkness will be, it will be in northern European countries like England and Sweden where we see the rise of Islam and anti-Israel sentiment. Europeans especially should take heed.”
Biltz also sees significance in the timing of the solar eclipse.
“An event of this magnitude at the very beginning of the religious new year demands attention. As the Bible tells us, there will be signs in the heavens on the feast days, and this is a very significant sign on a critical day.
“It’s the same day that there was the grand-opening ceremony of the tabernacle of Moses, with fire from heaven lighting the altar. Historically, this is a day of judgment.”
Biltz is the original discoverer of the four Blood Moons. Biltz points out that the total solar eclipse comes in the midst of these Blood Moons and that there will be another heavenly sign only weeks after the eclipse.
“Only a few weeks after this total solar eclipse, there with be a blood moon over Passover,” he said. “If the total solar eclipse is a sign to the gentiles, this will be a sign to the Jewish people.
“This comes at a time when American aid for Israel has become an important political issue in the United States. But Israelis know they cannot put their survival in the hands of one who wishes their demise.
“All throughout history, Israel has put their hopes in foreign help rather than trusting in the God of Israel. From King Ahaz to King Zedekiah and throughout history. While the U.S. needs to back Israel, Israel needs to rely on the God of Israel.”
Biltz also points to other upcoming signs that will take place on feast days. There will be another solar eclipse on The Feast of Trumpets, on Sept. 13, 2015.
The final blood moon, a “super blood moon,” will appear during the Festival of Tabernacles, which is also known as a period of judgment for all the nations. Biltz believes that this is a sign that momentous events are in motion.
“The last time there were four blood moons in a row, it was 1967 and Israel captured Jerusalem,” Biltz said. “The time before that occurred just after the re-establishment of Israel. Christians need to be aware of these facts in order to understand what is happening in the world today.”
The blood moons teaching is receiving increased attention in the Christian community. Root Source is launching its own online educational course and ebook to educate both Christians and Jews about the blood moons.
And Biltz appeared on TBN’s “Praise the Lord” on March 9 along with Jonathan Cahn, author of “The Mystery of the Shemitah: The 3,000-Year-Old Mystery That Holds the Secret of America’s Future, the World’s Future, and Your Future!”
The Shemitah, or Sabbath year, is the seventh year of the seven-year cycle mandated by the Torah and held to be of great prophetic significance by biblical experts. As Cahn pointed out on TBN, the total solar eclipse will “mark the exact center point day of the Shemitah.”
Biltz concludes that these extraordinary events and correlations are drawing the attention of scholars and believers who initially ignored the blood moons teaching: “This has become a worldwide phenomenon. It’s simply that all these signs are coming at what could be a critical time in history and especially for the Middle East. It can’t be ignored.”
Biltz notes that ultimately being aware of what is happening is only the first step. Approvingly noting Root Source and their prayer and education efforts, Biltz said simply, “May we all pray for the peace of Jerusalem.”

Passover Blood Moon Preceded by Exceedingly Rare Solar Eclipse

An exceedingly rare solar eclipse will take place next week over a most symbolic location on a day infused with both great natural significance and profound religious meaning.
There will be a total eclipse of the sun for two minutes over the North Pole on Friday, March 20, the day of the Spring Equinox which coincides with the beginning of the Hebrew month of Nissan, the first month in the Biblical calendar year, a solar occurrence that has never happened before in human history.
“The concurrence and rarity of this natural event, together with the times in which we live, indicates the finger of God,” Gidon Ariel, an Israeli Orthodox Jew told Breaking Israel News. Ariel serves as the co-founder and CEO of Root Source, an online platform where Christians can learn “Jewish concepts, ideas and thought, to more deeply understand the roots of their faith, in an informal and loving manner” according to the group’s website.
As stated in the Book of Exodus, “the first month” of Nissan is when God rescued the Nation of Israel from slavery in Egypt. Jewish tradition teaches that just as the first redemption happened in Nissan, so too the future redemption of the world will also occur in the month of Nissan.
Known by Jews as the “Holiday of Redemption,” Passover takes place every year on the 15th day of Nissan, and as Hebrew months are based on a lunar cycle, the night when Jews sit down to their Passover Seder always has a full moon.
This year, much attention is being paid to Passover’s full moon since it will be the third in a series of four “Blood Moons” taking place over the Jewish festivals.
Prominent Evangelical Christians have noticed that a series of four blood moons, known as a “tetrad” which falls during the three Jewish festivals of Sukkot (Tabernacles) and Passover, often serves as a harbinger of major events in Jewish history.
The last series of blood moons to occur over the Jewish festivals took place in 1967 when Israel won the Six Day War, expanded the boundaries of the Jewish State and liberated the city of Jerusalem.
Prior to 1967, there was a tetrad in 1949 when the Israeli War of Independence ended after the founding of the State of Israel the previous year, perhaps the greatest event in modern Jewish history.
A series of four blood moons occurring during Jewish holidays is so rare that the last time prior to 1948 was all the way back in 1493, the year following the expulsion of Jews from Spain, another major milestone in Jewish history.
While many articles and books have recently been written on the blood moons, the rare solar eclipse occurring two weeks before Passover’s blood moon was noticed by Root Source co-founder Bob O’Dell.
“Studying world history from a Jewish perspective has caused me to perceive the Blood Moons a bit differently than I did at first,” said O’Dell, an American Christian who has observed and studied lunar and solar astronomical events for more than 35 years.

O’Dell took his findings to Ariel and the two developed a free eBook on the blood moons as well as a complementary course where Christians can learn what O’Dell calls the “Jewish aspects” of the blood moons and solar eclipses of 2015.
Judaism teaches that God gave the Torah (Bible) to humanity in the Sinai wilderness, as opposed to inside the Land of Israel, in order to demonstrate that the Divine Word belongs to all of humanity, Jews and non-Jews. According to O’Dell, there is no place on earth that is as symbolic of wilderness as the North Pole.
“Whereas every piece and parcel of land in the world is owned by someone or some country, the North Pole is an international site and is not owned by any nation,” O’Dell explained to Breaking Israel News. “If God is going to teach a lesson to humanity, to the entire world, there is no more symbolic location than the North Pole.”
A total solar eclipse at the North Pole on the first day of spring occurs once every 100,000 years. For it to occur on the first day of the first month of the Biblical calendar year is, however, entirely unprecedented since this is only the year 5775 according to Jewish tradition, meaning that there has never been such a solar occurrence in human history.

Bob O’Dell, a devout Christian, and Gidon Ariel, an Orthodox Jew, are both calling their co-religionists to join them for two minutes of prayer as a response to the solar eclipse. O’Dell and Ariel chose a specific Bible verse for the global prayer.
“I will be praying Isaiah 11:9 for two minutes at the Western Wall in Jerusalem at 12:18 PM local time” he said.
“None will harm or destroy another on My entire holy mountain, for the land will be as full of the knowledge of the LORD as the sea is filled with water.”
“God directed Gidon and I to Isaiah 11:9 for it describes God’s glory covering the earth and the sea which perfectly describes this solar eclipse appearing over land and water.”
“I invite Jews and Christians worldwide to join me at that exact moment, and to speak that verse out loud as a prayer in your native language. May God hear and quickly answer the combined prayers of all of us around the world.”

Shemitah author sees new reason for concern

The approaching solar eclipse on March 20, followed by another blood moon on Passover, brings warnings of judgment coming to an unrepentant nation that has turned its back on God, says the author of two New York Times-bestselling books on America’s place in an increasingly chaotic world.
Jonathan Cahn, author of “The Harbinger” and “The Mystery of the Shemitah,” says he will be watching and taking notes on the landmark Supreme Court decision expected this summer on same-sex marriage while also keeping an eye on ISIS and Israel in the Middle East.
Throw in a volatile U.S. stock market, and Cahn expects to be a busy man for the remainder of the Shemitah year, which reaches its halfway point at sundown on March 20.
That also happens to be the day of a total solar eclipse.
The second half of the Shemitah and its ultimate climax on Sept. 15, which is Elul 29, the infamous “wipe-out day” on the Hebrew calendar, is dreaded by financial investors. This is the same day that brought the two biggest single-day stock market crashes in U.S. history to that point, Sept. 17, 2001 and Sept. 29, 2008. In the 2008 crash, the Dow fell 777.7 points on the news that the House of Representatives voted down a $700 billion bailout deal.
If you’re starting to get the idea that the Shemitah is all about the number seven, you wouldn’t be far off the mark.
Following 2001 and 2008, the next Shemitah year is 2015, which follows a seven-year cycle laid out for Moses in Exodus, then repeated in Leviticus. Every seventh year, the Israelites were instructed by God to celebrate a Sabbath year, letting the land rest from sowing and reaping and canceling out the debts of their countrymen. Everyone would start with a clean financial slate on Elul 29, the day of “release.” They would be blessed as long as they followed God’s commandments, but when they turned to false gods or followed their own pursuits independent of God, that’s when the blessings turned to judgments, often starting out light but turning more severe the longer the warning signs were ignored.
Cahn sees a similar phenomenon playing out in America. He traces the first signs of judgment to 1973, a Shemitah year, following Supreme Court decisions that removed prayer from public schools and legalized abortion. That started a downhill spiral, with each judgment getting more pronounced, including the stock-market crashes of 1980 and 1987, followed by terror attacks and a market crash in September 2001, then another financial collapse seven years later in September 2008. The present Shemitah year started Sept. 25, 2014, and is now halfway to its climax in September 2015.
“You never want to put God in box. He doesn’t have to do anything, but the pattern has been, the last seven Shemitahs, there’s been a collapse every time. And then the last two have been exactly to the day, on this Elul 29 wipe-out day,” Cahn said.
Elul 29 is the last day of the Hebrew month of Elul, which is followed by the month of Tishri. Elul 29 falls this year on Sunday, Sept. 13, which is the eve of the Feast of Trumpets, also known as Rosh Hashanah.
“Tishri is the month that manifests the wipe-out,” Cahn said. “Throughout history, the greatest crashes have all been focused on Tishri.”
Ominous signs in the heavens?
The current Shemitah year is being watched even more closely by some because it coincides with a rare tetrad of four blood moons that all occur on biblical feast days, the next coming on April 4, which is Passover. The tetrad of blood moons has only occurred three other times in the last 500 years. On top of the four blood moons, there will be a total solar eclipse on March 20 and a partial solar eclipse on Sept. 13 or Elul 29.

Israeli man returning home after 30 years in Oklahoma
Veteran of three Israeli wars moved to Tulsa 30 years ago

Issac Halali is going home to Israel on Saturday, one day after his 80th birthday.
The veteran of three Israeli wars is flying out of Tulsa International Airport at 8 a.m. to spend three weeks in his homeland exploring the possibility of making it a permanent move after three decades in America, much of it in Tulsa.
He will celebrate Passover with some of his nine younger brothers and sisters.
“I’m waiting for the moment the plane lands in Israel,” he said this week.
His wife, Patricia Halali, whom he met in Jerusalem, will accompany him.
Issac Halali was born in the Jewish quarter of the historic old city of Jerusalem 13 years before Israel became a nation.
His father was a strict Orthodox Jew who walked to what is now Israel from Syria, and his more lenient mother was the descendent of Jews who migrated there after they were expelled from Spain five centuries ago.
When he was 13, his family was forced to leave their home and move to the west side of Jerusalem before Jordan occupied the old city and largely destroyed the Jewish quarter in 1948.
“I cried when I had to leave our house, my friends and the synagogue,” he said.
During his bar mitzvah that year, bombs were going off in the war that followed the creation of the nation of Israel.
When he was about 14, he went to work for an iron worker.
“He taught me so much, and I loved it,” he said.
He eventually had his own iron works business in Jerusalem. For one of his jobs, he created the gates and fences around Israel’s Presidential Palace.
In the months leading up to the 1956 Sinai War, he was commissioned to weld hooks onto farm tractors so they could be used in the war effort. He later fought in that war.p:BodyJustified
Going to war
In the 1967 Six Day War, he was one of the soldiers who marched into the old city of Jerusalem, his old neighborhood, when Moshe Dayan recaptured East Jerusalem from Jordanian control.
He prayed at the Wailing Wall.
“Everyone was crying and happy,” he said.
In 1973, on Yom Kippur, the holiest day on the Jewish calendar, Halali said he was standing on the balcony of his house and saw cars moving in the street below. He knew something was wrong because people don’t drive on Yom Kippur. Then he got a radio message to report for military service.
The Yom Kippur War was “very hard for me,” he said.
His youngest brother, still a teenager, was hospitalized for two weeks in a coma induced by war trauma after fighting in the Golan Heights.
Six years later, divorced and depressed, he saw a group of tourists singing and dancing on the street and asked them what they were doing.
“We’re from Oklahoma City, and we came to worship,” a woman told him. “This is the Holy Land, and we’re happy to be here.”

Oklahoma connections
The woman was Edith Winiford Klotz of Oklahoma, known to everyone as “Mama Winnie.”
She befriended him and insisted he take a Hebrew New Testament.
“I am Jewish. What are you trying to do to me?” he told her.
All his life he had been taught that Christians do not like Jews, he said.
But he began to read the New Testament.
“I felt like something was there. Yeshua (Hebrew for Jesus) preached love, peace, happiness. I didn’t see anything bad.”
Klotz introduced him to the Rev. Bob Lindsey, a Baptist minister in Jerusalem from Moore, Oklahoma, who answered many of his questions. Lindsey later returned to Oklahoma. He died in Tulsa in 1995.
Halali got involved with the Christian community in Jerusalem and married Klotz’s daughter Patricia. His association with the Christian community in Jerusalem hurt his iron works business, he said.
The couple moved to Tulsa in 1984. Halali said life has been difficult for him in the United States, where he faced cultural and language barriers. He continued his iron work as Golden Gate Creative Ironwork.
He said he was surprised to find that Christian people love Jews.
“I go to a lot of churches, and everywhere I go I see love for Israel and the Jewish people,” he said.
Even the term Judeo-Christian was a surprise to him, because in Israel, the two traditions are not linked.
And he does not call himself a Christian, he said. In becoming a follower of Yeshua, whom he now believes is the Jewish Messiah, he said, “I have fulfilled my Jewish faith.”p:BodyJustified
Looking back
Last October, an American friend asked Halali if he would ever return to Israel. A few days later one of his brothers in Israel called and asked him about returning.
He began to think about it. His wife, stepdaughter and two of his grandchildren expressed interest in the idea.
He said he sees himself as a bridge between Christians and Israeli Jews.
“I want to build the relationship between the Jewish people and America.
“This is what I want to share. It is important to me.”
Will he move permanently to Israel? He’ll be looking for the answer to that question on his trip.

Francis expects his papacy to be no more than five years

(CNN)Pope Francis, who succeeded a resigning pontiff exactly two years ago, told a Mexican television network Friday that he expects his pontificate will be brief.
"Four or five years," he told Televisa. "I do not know, even two or three. Two have already passed. It is a somewhat vague sensation. Maybe it's like the psychology of the gambler who convinces himself he will lose, so he won't be disappointed and if he wins, is happy. I do not know."
Francis, who was elected in March 2013 after Pope Benedict XVI stepped down, said his predecessor had reopened a door to more popes emeritus.
When asked whether he likes being Pope, he enthusiastically responded: "I do not mind."
Francis, 78, said he feels God only wanted him to lead the Roman Catholic Church for a short time "and nothing more." He said that he would not support putting an age limit on the papacy.
He also enjoys calling on the Pope Emeritus.
"It's like having a wise grandfather at home. One can seek advice," Francis said.
Francis made similar retirement comments in August when he praised Benedict for "his beautiful gesture" and said he might do the same thing one day.
He told Televisa he misses the ability to go out in public without attracting a huge crowd.
"I would like ... to go out one day, without being recognized, and go to a pizzeria for a pizza," he said.
Also Friday, while at a communal penance service at St. Peter's Basilica, the Pope announced a "Jubilee of Mercy" will start in December. The theme will end November 26, 2016, the Vatican said.
There have been 26 jubilees since the first in 1300. The most recent was in 2000.

Comments on short papacy show possible awareness of ancient forecast

An author who successfully predicted Pope Benedict XVI’s resignation now is suggesting Pope Francis may be a believer in an ancient prophecy that foretells disaster for the Roman Catholic Church.
The pope unleashed an international frenzy of speculation when he recently commented, “I have a feeling my pontificate will be brief. … It is a vague feeling I have that the Lord chose me for a short mission.”
Bestselling author Tom Horn, featured on the blockbuster movie, “The Last Pope?,” told WND in an exclusive interview that the statements imply the man once known as Jorge Mario Bergoglio sees himself as part of a prophecy.
Horn stated, “The comments by Pope Francis regarding possible assassination or retirement and that he may not be the pontiff much longer make me wonder if he is a believer in his role as the last pope (pope No. 112 in the ‘Prophecy of the Popes’), which speaks of the destruction of Rome.”
St. Malachy’s “Prophecy of the Popes” is said to be based on his prophetic vision of the next 112 popes, beginning with Pope Celestine II, who died in 1144.
Malachy presented a description of each pope, culminating with the “final pope,” “Peter the Roman,” whose reign would end with the destruction of Rome and judgment.
But other Catholic prophecies also speak of the final subversion of the Roman Catholic Church.
As Horn notes, “Even St. Francis of Assisi – the current pope’s namesake and one of the most venerated religious figures in history – gathered his devotees shortly before his death and prophesied, ‘At the time of this tribulation a man, not canonically elected, will be raised to the pontificate, who, by his cunning, will endeavor to draw many into error and death. … Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it under foot and deny it. … for in those days Jesus Christ will send them not a true pastor, but a destroyer.’”
Horn believes Francis may also see his fate revealed as part of one of the famous “secrets of Fátima.”
“The final secret of Fátima was supposedly given to three Portuguese children, Lucia dos Santos, Jacinta Marto and Francisco Marto, when they saw an apparition of the Virgin Mary (Our Lady of Fátima) in 1917.”
As Horn observed, “There is a great deal of controversy over whether the third secret was ever completely released by the Vatican, but part of what was released describes a city, which some believe to be the Vatican City. The city is attacked and many priests, including the pope (described as the ‘Bishop in White’), are killed by fighters who could easily be interpreted as members of ISIS.”
This section of the prophecy reads,
… before reaching there the Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins and half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the souls of the corpses he met on his way [and] on his knees at the foot of the big cross he was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him, and in the same way there died one after another the other bishops, priests, men and women religious, and various lay people of different ranks and positions.
ISIS has vowed to “conquer Rome” by 2020 and has called for an alliance with the radical left to further its objectives. ISIS has also included Catholic countries like Spain in its vision of the restored caliphate.
Pope Francis seems aware of the danger posed by the terrorist group. Only a few days before musing on the likely brevity of his papacy, the pope spoke fatalistically about the danger of assassination. The pope declared his life or death is “in God’s hands” and joked, “I have said to the Lord, ‘You take care of me. But if it is your will that I die or something happens to me, I ask you only one favor: that it doesn’t hurt.’”
Such levity, says Horn, conceals more disturbing questions about the nature of Francis’ papacy and the manner in which he obtained his office.
Horn explains the Italian newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano claimed to have uncovered a plot in 2012 to assassinate Pope Benedict XVI because of an internal power struggle. Horn asks, “Is that why Benedict ‘retired’ officially in 2012, though not publicly until 2013?”
Pope Francis is doing his best to convince the world about the stability of the papacy. Despite his reputation as an innovator, the pope has expressed opposition to an age limit for future popes.
New York Times bestselling author Jerome Corsi also wonders about instability in the Vatican. In an interview with WND, Corsi said Pope Francis’ comments about a short papacy surprised him.
“With Pope Benedict resigning, a new model of the papacy seems to be developing. Granted, Benedict is not day-to-day active, but he appears to give advice to Pope Francis when consulted. Do we already have two popes?”
“In the future, will popes have terms for which they serve, as presidents in the USA have term limits?” Corsi wondered. “Is Pope Francis the last pope to be appointed for life? Will Francis step down as Benedict did? We do appear to be in a new age where the papacy is undergoing redefinition.”
But Horn said the events in progress may be something far more substantial than simply organizational changes.
“Francis appointed Pietro Parolin as his secretary of state, an Italian (Roman) whose name is Peter,” Horn said. “If the Vatican were attacked or Francis and his Camerlengo (papal administrators) were to be killed at the same time or taken out of the way, this man would sit on the pope’s throne and literally be known as ‘Peter the Roman,’ the final line in the Prophecy of the Popes.”

ARCHBISHOP MAKES DESPERATE PLEA FOR ASSYRIAN CHRISTIANS
'I will die, but I will not abandon my flock'

The pleas are getting louder and more desperate from Middle Eastern Christians whose ancient homelands stand in the path of the rampaging Islamic caliphate ISIS.
The latest sign of desperation came in the voice of the Syrian archbishop, cracking with emotion and dismay as he described the plight of more than 200 Assyrian Christians kidnapped from their homes by ISIS in northeast Syria in late February near the Turkish border.
“Many were plucked from their beds at dawn,” CBS News reported. “A man who refused to leave his home was set on fire along with his house.”
ISIS is still holding as many as 220 of the Assyrians Christians, an indigenous people who trace their roots back to ancient Mesopotamia, where the Apostle Thomas brought the gospel in the first century. It was in Antioch, Syria, where followers of Jesus first called themselves “Christians.”
The archbishop of Aleppo, Jean-Clement Jeanbart, issued an urgent appeal through ABC News on March 8, begging the West to intervene and stop the slaughter of more Christians in his country.
ISIS has torched their churches, some dating back 1,800 years, and destroyed their ancient Bibles and relics.
Their language, Aramaic, is the same language spoken by Jesus. If their communities are destroyed, the language will eventually also disappear from the face of the earth.
“We in this country, Christians in this country, used to live quietly, safely and friendly with the Muslims in Syria,” the Syrian archbishop said. “But now that ISIS came, they are doing whatever they could to frighten Christians, push them away, and perhaps, so often to hurt them in many ways. Execute them.”
Earlier this year, Jeanbart divulged to an Italian publication what he said was a plot to empty the Middle East of all Christians, whom he said ISIS fears more than any other non-Muslims because of their connection to the West.
“As pastor of this church, I will never leave this people,” he told Italian journalists of the 300,000 Christians under his care. “I will die, but I will not abandon my flock. I am convinced that the Lord will ask me an account of my commitment, my courage and my hope for this portion of his people that He entrusted to me.”
The attacks on Christians in Syria were touched off by the so-called Arab Spring, he said.
‘They are killing our history, our memory’
Jeanbart told ABC News he was afraid that America and European countries do not have enough interest or understanding of how desperate the situation is for Syrian Christians.
“We are in front of savagery, and we do not know what they will do if they arrive in other cities,” he told the network. “It’s terrible what we have seen. They are killing our history, our memory. All this culture we had and we have was supposed to help us to find understanding.”
He said Syrian Christians are confused as to why those with the same faith in the West, who are supposed to share the same values of peace, love and freedom, continue to stand off at a distance. Many have called for air raids on ISIS strongholds in Syria.
“They do not understand that civilized countries and people who believe in the freedom and dignity of humans and the rights of human beings may let down human beings, let them die,” Jeanbart said.
“It’s sad. I do not understand that. I do not understand, and I suffer a lot. ”
Dr. Andrew Bostom, author of “The Legacy of Jihad” and several other books about Islam’s history, said even the “peaceful times” that many Middle Eastern Christians refer to is a relative term.
“All the jihad campaigns waged in the Middle East were targeting Christians primarily. That’s why there is so little Christianity left in the Middle East,” said Bostom, a Jewish physician and scholar. “Everywhere you turn, you see the persecution of churches, the burning of churches.”
One of the sources Bostom cites in his research is the 1,000-page tome by Jewish historian Moshe Gil, “A History of Palestine: 634-1099.” In it, Gil says the destruction of Christian communities was so complete that archaeologists were still unearthing destroyed churches from the Byzantine era in the second half of the 20th century.
In “Legacy of Jihad” Bostom includes a table showing the widespread atrocities of the Ottoman Empire’s jihads.
“It takes the reader through all the towns they destroyed. It’s just overwhelming,” he said. “It’s sickening.”
“It’s the Ottomans, it’s the Arabs, the Persians, and it’s just the mass destruction of Middle Eastern Christianity,” he said. “There’s just an overwhelming historic record going back to the beginning of Islam.”
The “living side-by-side in peace” meme is largely a false narrative perpetrated by Western historians, Bostom said. Peace compared to what? ISIS? Perhaps some were not as brutal, but even the most peaceful living arrangements in the Middle East have not involved Christians being treated with equal justice under the law, and having legal and professional opportunities on par with Muslims. That never happens in Muslim countries living under Shariah law, Bostom said.
“It’s not even true of the recent history. Going forward from the genocide of the Armenians and the Syriac Orthodox Church, you will see steady persecution. There was a big program in 1933 in Iraq, a big massacre of the Christians that were left when the Ottoman Empire was defeated,” he said, referring to the slaughter of 3,000 Assyrian Christian men, women and children in northern Iraq by Iraqi soldiers and Kurdish irregulars.
“We see this from every historical period,” Bostom said.
The persecution of Christians in Iraq’s Nineveh plain after the fall of Saddam Hussein went largely unreported in the years after the 2003 U.S. invasion and occupation, but the U.S. did not do a very good job of protecting the Christian minorities there.
‘Crucified just like Jesus’
In 2007, the Assyrian Christians were being forced from their homes in Iraq by Islamic thugs unleashed by the imams. The orders for such activity invariably come from the mosques.
“We’ve got families that are being butchered, crucified, just like in Jesus’ time,” Mona Oshana, an Assyrian activist and author living in Arizona, told reporter Joe Dana of ArizonaCentral.com in September 2007.
“Talk to any local Assyrian (in Phoenix, Arizona), and they will likely be able to tell you a story about a sibling, cousin or friend who has been given the infamous ultimatum by religious Islamist extremists: Convert to the Muslim faith or else you will be forced out of your home,” Dana reported. “The targeted Christians are usually given a couple days to make their decision. If they don’t act, they are killed.”
That was in 2007, four years before anyone in the West had heard the word “ISIS.”
Since then, hundreds of thousands of Syrian and Assyrian Christians have been targeted for religious cleansing by Islamic terrorists. ISIS has picked up where al-Qaida left off, only on a larger scale: crucifying, beheading, burying Christians alive, shooting them execution-style, dowsing them in oil and burning them alive, cutting the Assyrian Christian children in half in front of their parents, raping and murdering girls and women, and selling the most beautiful Assyrian Christian women into sex slavery. The Greek Catholic Relief Agency has reported that 300,000 Syrian and Assyrian Christians refugees have been seeking resettlement in the U.S. through the United Nations refugee program, but they have been rejected by the U.N. and by the Obama administration.
Now, the news is finally starting to get out that Christians in the Middle East are under the gun. The slaying of the 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians in Libya drew massive media attention and is still being talked about in Christian social media circles and blogs. But it’s still hard to get church leaders in the U.S. to take seriously the topic of Christian persecution in the Middle East.
Bill Warner, who has doctorates in physics and math, authors the PoliticalIslam.com blog. For the past 13 years he has dedicated his life to raising awareness about the persecution of Christians living under Shariah law. It’s been a hard road. His audiences are small, and his critics are loud, but he plods forward nonetheless.
“I have spoken almost weekly about what I call the ethical collapse of Christianity, which is quiet in the face of the greatest human rights crime in the history of the world – the persecution of Christians under Islam,” he said. “All religious minorities are persecuted under Shariah, and the Christians are the most persecuted of all.”
Silence in the Bible Belt
Warner lives in Nashville, Tennessee, and concentrates on getting his message out in surrounding areas, although his video blogs reach thousands worldwide on YouTube.
“I live in what’s called the buckle of the Bible Belt, Nashville, and I have to say if this is the buckle, the church’s pants are down around its ankles,” Warner said. “I am condemning 95 percent of the churches. They simply don’t care. If they do care, they care like they care about a drought in California. (Dietrich) Bonhoeffer was right: Silence in the face of evil is the same as evil itself.”
Warner said when he speaks on the radio he is condemned as a bigot and a hater.
“I am not about hating Muslims. I sort of admire Muslims (for their dedication). What I despise is the leadership of the church,” Warner said.
He said his goal through his website and YouTube channel is to provide a voice for the voiceless. He gets little response from Christian media or church leaders. Most pastors, he says, are too concerned about growing their membership and maintaining their tax-exempt status to take on controversial issues like helping persecuted Christians in Iraq, Syria, Egypt or Nigeria.
“I have often said that the favorite Bible verse of many pastors is 501(c)3. They’re concerned about their buildings, and their ministry extends out to their parking lot. I have tried teaching the church for 13 years about the doctrines of Islam,” he said. “It’s like a brick wall for them to learn it. They say they don’t need to know about the doctrines of Islam; they only need to know about the gospel and Jesus.”
So what is the answer? How does one get too comfortable, Western Christians in their comfortable churches, to not only notice what is happening to their Christian brethren in the Middle East but do something about it?
“I say you have to create first an insurrection within your own church. Caesar is running your church,” Warner said.
‘Bring the suffering into the church’
“Bring the suffering Christians into your church, and if you can’t do it physically, bring in their stories,” he continued. “Don’t talk about the Muslims; they’re afraid of them anyway. But are you not concerned about the persecuted churches? You need to teach what a dhimmi is, the fact that Christians are being taken as sex slaves and women are being raped and mutilated. So bring the suffering into the church. After a while, somebody might say, ‘Hey, why are they doing this?’ That’s when you say, ‘Aha, now you are ready to meet Muhammad.’”
Someone will inevitably ask, “Well now, are those real Christians?” Warner said.
“And you can tell them that the Assyrian church was a church 1,800 years before John Wesley. So you’re talking about a church that was following Jesus long before Wesley, long before Luther. So yes, they’re real. And their suffering is real.”
The difference between a lukewarm, do-nothing church and an active, engaged church boils down to the church’s place in American society. Warner and others believe the church has willingly taken a backseat on the sidelines of American culture. It sits in the background, marginalized, mocked and no longer respected.
“When you look at the early church, you have to look at the ethos of what Islam came out of. The church used to be a civilizational force and a religious force,” Warner said. “Today the church is only religious. It is no longer a civilizational force. The tragedy is, it is content with these crumbs.”
The Muslims, while they make up only about 2 percent or less of the U.S. population, are much more aggressive in getting their message out.
“The Muslims brought 1,000 people down to rally at the Tennessee Legislature for an issue they were concerned about last year,” he said. “I couldn’t get 50 Christians to rally for the persecuted church. The church wants to tie; the Muslims want to win. The Christians have reduced the gospel down to two words, ‘Be nice.’ As I read the gospel, Jesus was despised, He stirred things up, He irritated powerful people.”
‘The storm is coming to America’
One high-profile Christian leader who has taken a public stand against the violence of Islam and the vulnerability of Christians in the Middle East is Franklin Graham, son of legendary evangelist Billy Graham.
In a recent interview with Gordon Robertson of CBN News, Graham issued a stark warning. He said violent jihad won’t remain in the Middle East or even Europe. “The storm is coming,” he said.
Robertson asked Graham what kind of storm he was referring to.
“The storm of Islam. This isn’t just radical Islam. This is Islam. And they’ve been persecuting Christians, minorities, for centuries. This isn’t something that just started with ISIS,” Graham said in the interview with CBN News. “It goes all the way back to the time of Muhammad. When he began to turn his sword on Christians and Jews in Arabia. At that time, there were large Christian communities in Arabia. Now there is not one Jew, not one Christian left. It’s against the law in Saudi Arabia to have a church. There’s been a very large community of Christians in places like Iraq, but after 9/11 those communities have dwindled down to thousands.”
He said the same thing is happening is Syria, in Egypt, in Sudan and in so-called “moderate” Muslim countries like Indonesia and Turkey.
“There is not any place for these Christians to run anymore. Those that could escape to the West have come, and we’re going to see persecution coming to this country,” Graham said, warning that Muslims have access to President Obama in the White House and that Obama grew up being influenced by Islam, not Christianity.
“Our foreign policy now has a lot of influence from Muslims,” he said. “They hate Israel, and they hate Christians. So the storm is coming, I believe, Gordon.”
Robertson asked, “Why is our government insisting that it’s a religion of peace? And now we have this new phrase, they refuse to call it Islamic terrorism. For the 21 Christians killed in Egypt, they call them laborers; they don’t want to call them Christians. Why is that?”
Graham said the answer to that question requires one to go back to the administration of George W. Bush in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks.
“It’s because the White House has opened the doors. It started after 9/11 when the Bush administration began to allow Muslims to come into various governmental agencies to advise us how to respond to Muslims and how to respond to Islam after 9/11,” Graham said. “What’s happened is you now have radical Islamists that are advising various levels of government, and it’s going to get worse. And nobody seems to be alarmed by it. Nobody is saying anything about this. And we as Christians are going to lose.”
Growing up, Graham said he was influenced by the Christian faith. That left him wanting to emulate “the person of Jesus Christ,” he said. “Jesus Christ died and shed his blood for you and me and for the Muslims and for all the people of the world. I want to follow Christ and I want my life to model His.”
But for the Muslim, the model is Muhammad.
“The followers of Islam. They want to emulate Muhammad. Muhammad was a warrior. He killed people. He was a brutal person, and so what you see with ISIS and the other groups is they’re just emulating Muhammad. So this is Islam, and we’ve got to wake up to the truth of Islam. And we talk about radical Islam … radical Islam are the people who go to the mosque. The millions of moderate Muslims out there, they don’t go to the mosque; they don’t want anything really to do with it. But they were born into Islam, and they can’t get out of it because if you try to leave Islam, they’re going to kill you. So they have to stay there, but they just don’t participate. They just sort of sit on the sidelines, and they want to live their life and go on. Those are the moderates. But the ones who go to the mosque are the ones we have to be afraid of.”
As Muslim immigration continues unabated, there will come a day when many Christians wake up to what is happening. It will be too late. America will be like Europe is now, at the tipping point when civilizational jihad turns into violent jihad. The persecution will be at their doorstep, and they will be unprepared, both spiritually and intellectually, said Warner.
“What church has prepared its children for the coming onslaught of dawah (or Muslim missionary outreach)? What church pastor can give Shariah advice to that question from a young girl, when she says, ‘I am dating a Muslim’ and needs to know the rules of life in an Islamic marriage.”
“If we don’t have answers, we are complicit in the greatest evil on the face of the earth, the persecution of all religious minorities, and there appears to be nothing that will motivate the preachers of Tennessee,” Warner said. “We have textbooks in our schools now that represent Islam as the greatest civilization and that denigrate Christianity. We held a rally against the textbooks in Murphreesboro, and one pastor came. There is no limit to the passive evil in the church. And when I talk about these things, I am called the old man who frightens people. I am the bigot; I am the hater. I used to talk to the preachers, but they don’t want to talk to me anymore. There will be a great judgment on the church in America one day, and it will be bitter. And no one cares. I’ve harangued groups publicly, and they just sit there and take it. They say, ‘Well, what can we do?’ I say start by teaching your own children about Islam.”

Suicide bombings in Christian area of Pakistani city kill at least 14 people

The explosions, which struck the Nishtar Colony area in the city of Lahore, wounded at least 78 people, said Dr. Muhammed Saeed Sohbin, medical superintendent at Lahore General Hospital.
Video from the scene aired by CNN affiliate GEO News showed twisted metal, shattered glass and panicked residents outside a church compound. Ambulance and security personnel were seen moving in. Later footage showed water cannons arriving to disperse the crowd.
Pakistani Taliban reunited
Ehsanullah Ehsan, a spokesman for the Pakistani Taliban, said by telephone that his group was responsible for the suicide bombings, declaring that such attacks would continue until Sharia law is implemented in Pakistan.
After a period of disunity, the terrorist group's three major splinter groups announced last week that they were joining forces again under the name Tehrik-i-Taliban, or TTP.
Prime Minister condemns attack
The Pakistani military has been waging a campaign against the militant group in North Waziristan, one of the loosely governed tribal areas bordering Afghanistan.
Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, whose government held unsuccessful peace talks with the TTP last year, strongly condemned Sunday's attack, according to a statement from his office.
Sharif asked provincial governments to tighten security and "take all possible measures" to protect people and property, the statement said.
Christian couple burned
The last major attack on Pakistan's Christian community took place in 2013, when suicide bombers struck a church in the northwestern city of Peshawar, killing more than 80 people.
More recently, a Christian couple was burned to death in November by mob that accused them of blasphemy.
"The Christian community is a soft target for militant outfits in Pakistan," said Rabia Mehmood, a researcher at the Jinnah Institute, a Pakistani think tank. "But generally Christians and other religious minorities are under a constant threat by the extremist elements in the society and rampant religious intolerance."
Other minorities in the predominantly Sunni Muslim nation have also been targeted this year. Last month, an attack on a Shiite mosque in Peshawar killed at least 19 worshipers and injured dozens of others. The Pakistani Taliban reportedly claimed responsibility for that attack, too.

Right-wing media outlet Israel National News published an opinion piece Tuesday calling on Israel to launch nuclear bombs at Iran and Germany, only days after the outlet came under fire for publishing a piece accusing a war widow of killing her husband over her pro-peace views.
In the opinion article published Tuesday, the author claims that only through nuclear annihilation of Iran and Germany, with 20 or 30 nuclear bombs each, can Israelis prevent the state’s destruction. dfp adslot
“If Israel does not walk in the ways of God’s Bible,” author Chen Ben-Eliyahu wrote in Hebrew, “it will receive a heavy punishment of near complete destruction and doom and only a few will be saved.”
One of Israel’s missions is to remember the crimes of Amalek, a tribe representative of pure evil in the Bible, whom Jews are commanded to obliterate. Among those descended from the band, the author writes, are Iranian leaders Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and current President Hassan Rouhani.
“They don’t miss an opportunity to discuss the need for the annihilation of Israel,” he wrote.
To combat this Israel must respond in kind, Ben-Eliyahu declared. “To an existential threat we must respond with an existential threat,” he wrote, “not with speeches in Congress. We must make it clear to the Iranians that Israel will wipe out their nuclear program and Tehran and Isfahan as well.”
“If [an enemy] rises up to destroy you, rise earlier to destroy him: twenty, thirty nuclear bombs will do to assure the job gets done,” he continued.
He also called on Israel to remember its near destruction at the hands of the Nazis and exact revenge on Germany, now a staunch ally of Israel.
When the Messiah comes, Ben-Eliyahu wrote, Israel will reverse the Final Solution. “Twenty, thirty atomic bombs on Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, Nuremberg, Cologne, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Dresden, Dortmund and so on to assure the job gets done. And the land will be quiet for a thousand years,” he wrote.
Israel National News refused to comment on the website’s decision to run the op-ed.

Why was a statue dedicated to the Hindu Lord Nataraja, also known as the “dark one”, at the CERN collider? Because the New World Order is sending you a message.

Now here is where it gets interesting. The significance of the Lord Nataraja sculpture is that the Hindu god Shiva is shown as first destroying the world, then recreating it. A Bengali chant talking about this says:

The bible clearly tells us that the Hindu “dark one” who inhabits the “burning ground” is none other than Satan himself. Is the picture starting to become clear to you now?

France Moves to Make ‘Conspiracy Theories’ Illegal by Government Decree

Political elites and super-bureaucrats are worried. It’s becoming harder to control consensus reality.
A history stitched together by lies and cover-ups, political assassinations, slight-of-hand false flag deceptions, secret societies, dual loyalties and stolen fortunes – this have been the privilege of ruling elites for centuries.
Putting aside history’s ‘big ticket’ items though, the real reason for this authoritarian trend is much more fundamental. By knocking out their intellectual competition, political elites and their media moguls hope to minimalize, and thus eliminate any alternative analysis and opinion by applying the completely open-ended and arbitrary label of “extremist” to speech. They want to wind back the clock, where a pre-internet, monolithic corporate media cartel held a monopoly on ideas.
Although France has taken the lead in this inter-governmental effort, the preliminary assault began this past fall with British Prime Minster David Cameron publicly announcing on two separate occasions, that all of these so-called ‘conspiracy theories’ (anything which challenges the official orthodoxy) should be deemed as “extremist” and equivalent to “terrorist” and should be purged from society on the grounds of ‘national security’. The first came with Cameron’s warped speech at the UN, and afterwards, a similar charge was made by the UK leader against anyone who dares press the issue of institutional paedophilia and child abuse.
As yet, few are aware of how in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo shootings, French Prime Minster, Francois Hollande delivered an official declaration However, Hollande takes it beyond the usual hyperbole and focuses on giving the state an administrative and legal foothold for policing both speech and thought crimes in France. If this is can be accomplished in France, then a European roll-out would soon follow.
Ironically, in order to achieve this fascist leap forward, Hollande has equated “conspiracy theories” to Nazism, and is calling for government regulations to prevent any sharing or publishing of any views deemed as ‘dangerous thought’ by the state. Specifically, Hollande is citing “Anti-Semitism” and also anything which could inspire ‘acts terrorism’ – as the chief vehicles for what the state will be designating as ‘dangerous thoughts’. With the thumb of Hebdo still pressing down, this may just sound like politics writ large by the French leader, but in reality it’s full-blown fascism.
Worse yet, with all of the world leaders gathered togther in Paris in January supposedly marching solidarity for ‘free speech’ and proudly chanting “Je Suis Charlie” (image above), that Hollande would use this as political cover to restrict free speech in Europe should shock even.
RINF reports how the new censorship regime has already been implemented this week:
“Earlier this week, the Interior Minister of France — with no court review or adversarial process — ordered five websites to not only be blocked in France, but that anyone who visits any of the sites get redirected to a scary looking government website, saying:
While it could be argued that the four websites initially listed by the government for ‘blocking’ were exclusively for ISIS/ISIL-related activity and thus, should be kept hidden, the government has made no caveat in its reams of policy literature, other than some vague language as to what it defines as ‘extremist’, as to where this growing list will stop, or indeed, if it has any limits at all. Because this process is extrajudicial, then there will be no warning to gov’t targets of this new regime. In fact, as RINF reports, this has already happened:
“In that first batch was a site called “islamic-news.info.” The owner of that site not only notes that he was never first contacted to “remove” whatever material was deemed terrorist supporting (as required by the law), but that nothing in what he had posted was supporting terrorism.”
Will French gov’t censors also block this website – because it is challenging the government’s new public filtering program? Are we entering a new intolerant, Chinese-style policing culture in Europe, and throughout the west? Certainly they have the ability and the legal clearance to do just that right now.
Fear of losing control over manipulative narratives has always been a primary obsession with those in power, and clearly, based on what we’ve seen here – governments are making an aggressive move on free speech now. Skeptics will no doubt argue that this 21WIRE article itself constitutes a conspiracy theory. If that was the case, then why have western governments, particularly those in the US and Britain, already spent millions, if not billions in state funds in order to infiltrate, disrupt, and occupy forum websites, and social networking groups of so-called ‘conspiracy theorist and even creating entirely new groups just to contradict them? Does that not already prove what the government modus operandi is?
As if that wasn’t enough already, now France wants to take it to a whole new authoritarian level. It may sound ridiculous, but this is exactly what is taking place in government as we speak.
History shows that once this new regime is in place, they will not relinquish any new powers of censorship, and so a long, intellectual dark age is certain to follow…

EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT DECLARES GAY MARRIAGE AND ABORTION ‘HUMAN RIGHTS’

On Thursday, the European Parliament voted to approve its “Annual Report on Human Rights and Democracy in the World 2013 and the European Union’s policy on the matter,” which declares both same-sex marriage and abortion to be fundamental human rights.
The Parliament, which enjoys freedom from voter accountability, continues its legislative activism, pushing member states toward more liberal positions on virtually every social issue, and slinging loose language such as “homophobia.”
The report says it is “regrettable” that women and girls’ bodies “still remain an ideological battleground,” and calls for the EU and its member states to recognize the inalienable rights of women, including “the right to access voluntary family planning and safe and legal abortion.”
It also states that “the denial of lifesaving abortion amounts to a serious breach of human rights.”
In the area of sexual orientation, the report urges the Commission “to raise the issue of LGBTI rights in political and human rights dialogues with third countries and multilateral forums” and enjoins its policy-working group, the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) to “support organisations defending LGBTI rights by empowering them to challenge homophobic and transphobic laws and discrimination against LGBTI people.”
The report applauds the legalization of same-sex marriage in an increasing number of countries (17 to date), and encourages the EU institutions and the member states to frame “the recognition of same-sex marriage or same-sex civil union as a political, social and human and civil rights issue.”
It is “regrettable,” the report states, that in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia “a bill constitutionally banning same-sex marriage is currently being considered in parliament,” claiming that “such developments contribute to a climate of homophobia and discrimination.”
The Federation of Catholic Family Associations in Europe said that the resolution’s position on marriage “threatens the right of children to have a father and a mother.” It said children’s best interest should be considered, and their needs “should be respected” and “cannot be neglected in favor of adults’ desires.”
An overwhelming majority approved the report Thursday, with 390 voting yes, 151 no, and 97 abstaining, during the plenary meeting of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
Liberal parliamentarian Antonio Panzeri prepared the report, which has come to be known simply as the “Panzeri Report.”

Irish town builds memorial to thank Native Americans who helped during Famine

A sculpture of nine eagle feathers will be installed in Bailic Park, in Midleton, Co Cork to thank the Choctaw Indians for their kindness and support during the Great Irish Famine.
Despite the oppression faced by the Choctaws in the years preceding the famine, on hearing of the plight and hunger of the Irish people in 1847, they raised $170 to send to the Irish people and ease their suffering. This figure is equivalent to tens of thousands of dollars in today’s currency.
The sculpture, consisting of nine giant, stainless steel eagle feathers, is currently being completed by Cork sculptor Alex Pentek. Speaking to the Irish Examiner, Pentek says, “I wanted to show the courage, fragility and humanity that they displayed in my work.”
The $111,000 (€100,000) sculpture will be officially unveiled in a few months and invitations have been sent by Joe McCarthy, East Cork’s municipal district officer, to Choctaw leaders.

In what is one of the most surprising and generous contributions to Irish famine relief, a group of Choctaw people gathered in Scullyville, Oklahoma, on March 23, 1847 to collect funds for the starving Irish people. They passed money collected onto a U.S. famine relief organization, in an extraordinary act of kindness from those who already had so little.
Just 16 years prior to this collection, the Choctaws were among one of the so-called “civilized tribes”, who were forced off their land by President Andrew Jackson (the son of Irish immigrants) and forced to complete a 500-mile trek to Oklahoma that would become known as the Trail of Tears.
Despite the allegiance shown by the Choctaws to General Jackson during the War of 1812, the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek signed on September 27, 1830, resulted in the Choctaws signing away the remainder of their traditional homelands in Alabama, Mississippi and Florida and undertaking a forced march off the land. Over half the 21,000 Choctaws forced on this march perished on the trail due to malnutrition, disease and exposure. The winter the Choctaws spent on the Trail of Tears was one of the coldest on record and even those who survived the journey to Oklahoma faced further hardships in creating new communities for themselves, along with new homes, schools, and churches.
It is this terrible journey that inspired Pentak for his creation, “To see members of your family drop to the side of the road and to be powerless. To change that course of history. That stirred my imagination.”

The Choctaws themselves felt an affinity with the Irish people because of this hardship and, on hearing of their suffering, they wished to contribute. Both were communities who had fallen foul of the conquests of others which had in turn led to loss of property, forced migration and exile, mass starvation, and cultural suppression (most notably language).
This is not the first time that the Choctaw nation has been honored in Ireland. In 1990, Choctaw leaders traveled to County Mayo to take part in a reenactment of the desperate walk undertaken by locals to their landlord in 1848. The gesture was returned in 1992, when Irish commemoration leaders took part in a 500 mile trek from Oklahoma to Mississippi. Former Irish President Mary Robinson has also been named an honorary Choctaw chief.
A plaque acknowledging the contribution of the Choctaw people to the one million Irish people starving during Black ‘47 , the worst year of the famine, is mounted in Dublin’s Mansion House and reads, "Their humanity calls us to remember the millions of human beings throughout our world today who die of hunger and hunger-related illness in a world of plenty."

Some Cognitive Skills Peak At Age 70: New Views On Intelligence Bring Hope For Lifetime Of Ability

Many recent studies place a cap on our mental abilities at ridiculously young ages — some of the most current research reports cognitive peaks in young adulthood, and, no exaggeration, some go so far as to say late adolescence. From there, many scientists imply, it’s just a slow and exhausting descent into dementia. It's refreshing, then, to learn of a team of researchers who come to far different conclusions. Their recent work indicates aspects of our intelligence peak at different ages and stages, with some of our abilities rising to their heights only once we have reached our 70s.
In fact, not only is there no single age at which we perform at peak levels for all mental tasks, there may not be a stage when we are best at most tasks.
“A lot of abilities — like processing speed or memory — peak relatively early in life. But our ability to use all the skills and knowledge we’ve accumulated over a lifetime (called crystallized intelligence) peaks much later,” Dr. Joshua Hartshorne, co-author of the research and a postdoc at MIT's Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences, told Medical Daily. “In fact, crystalized intelligence continues to accumulate quite late — at least as measured by vocabulary, it continues to accumulate almost as late as American life expectancy!”
Web-Based Study
It’s tough work studying how mental abilities change with time because it’s difficult to get large numbers of people to come to a psych lab and participate in experiments. Hartshorne and his co-author Dr. Laura Germine confronted that problem head on by running large-scale experiments on the Internet. They created two web sites, gameswithwords.org and testmybrain.org, that feature cognitive tests which can be finished in just a few minutes. Over the past several years, they accumulated data from nearly three million people through these sites.
“One of the exciting things about this work (I think) is that we've shown that by using Web-based quizzes,” Hartshorne explained to Medical Daily, “we can study development and aging at a level of detail that wasn't really possible before.”
Analyzing the gathered data, the researchers found a very clear picture showing that each tested skill peaked at a different age. For example, raw speed in processing information appears to peak around age 18 or 19, then immediately begins its decline. Meanwhile, short-term memory continues to improve until around age 25, when it levels off and then begins to drop around age 35. However, other skills reach their heights later.
“Social perception continues to get better well into middle age, and it doesn't decline much with age after that. This suggests that older adults may be in a particularly good position to read and understand others,” according to Hartshorne.
Most surprisingly, their data identified a peak in vocabulary during the late 60s or early 70s, in stark contrast to the Weschler IQ test, which points to the late 40s.
“Vocabulary is peaking later and later with each generation,” Hartshorne commented in his email to Medical Daily: “So either we are getting better at learning or remembering words, or we are continuing to encounter new words much later into life than previously.” He and Germine believe this may be a result of better education, more people having jobs that require a lot of reading, and more opportunities for intellectual stimulation for older people.
Meanwhile, the two researchers search for ways to apply and deploy their new findings. While the results may not cleanly map onto policy recommendations, it “should be obvious why, as we better understand how ability changes over the lifespan, we'll be in a better position to design (lifelong) education, plan careers, and so on,” Hartshorne said.
Still, he offers one caveat: The need to keep individual variation in mind. Some teens may have better social perception than some middle-aged people, while, conversely, some 40-somethings may be faster on their feet than some 20-year-olds. Isn’t it time to legislate against ageism, along with the increasing tendency to belittle older workers?
“Tom Brady is well past the typical peak age for a football player,” Hartshorne said. “I'd still rather have him as my quarterback than pretty much anyone else.”

A close friend and colleague of ours, Simon Peterson, contacted us recently concerning a project he is interested in producing.
Simon has been a faithful missionary for many, many years having spent the past sixteen years in Uganda with his wife and family.
Simon hosts a daily Gospel oriented radio program in Uganda called “Nightlight”. An international edtion of this program is also enjoyed by listeners all around the world.
Simon has recorded audio books of the King James Bible and many classic Christian daily devotionals. He is also overseeing the recording of a number of audio Bibles in East African languages that have never before had a Bible.
In the 1990's Simon also narrated and produced two widely acclaimed documentaries that were translated into numerous languages and seen by millions around the world, "Countdown to Armageddon” and “Beyond Armageddon”.
Simon now has two new projects which he described in a recent news letter.
“An ambitious project for 2015 is to produce one or two new End time videos. Joseph
Candel is already working on a completely updated “Countdown to Armageddon” script.
This will be a completely new video, with new narrations and video footage.
The other video we are praying about would be something like “Beyond Armageddon”, but more centered around Jerusalem, its history, its present situation, and most importantly, its future. It would be filmed in Jerusalem later this year. I’ve invited Robert (of “People of the Keys”) to collaborate with me on the scripting and possibly even the filming of this video. The working title for the documentary is “Oh, Jerusalem!””
In our recent conversations with Simon, we have decided because of the world situation that sooner rather than later would be advantageous. We are now hoping to film in mid (April and complete the filming some time in May.) This has been changed from May to June.
