One Christian dreamed that she saw three others at prayer. As they knelt, the Master drew near to them.
As He approached the first of the three, He bent over her in tenderness and grace, with smiles full of radiant love and spoke to her in accents of purest, sweetest music. Leaving her, He came to the next but only placed His hand upon her bowed head, and gave her one look of loving approval.
The third woman He passed almost abruptly without stopping for a word or glance. The woman in her dream said to herself, "I wonder what she has done, and why He made so much difference between them?" As she tried to account for the action of her Lord, He stood by her and said: "O woman! How wrongly hast thou interpreted Me. The first kneeling woman needs all the weight of My tenderness and care to keep her feet in My narrow way. She needs My love, thought and help every moment of the day. ... The second has stronger faith and deeper love, and I can trust her to trust Me however things may go and whatever people do.
"The third, whom I seemed not to notice, and even to neglect, has faith and love of the finest quality, and her I am training by quick and drastic processes for the highest and holiest service.
"She knows Me so intimately, and trusts Me so utterly, that she is independent of words or looks or any outward intimation of My approval. She is not dismayed nor discouraged by any circumstances through which I arrange that she shall pass; she trusts Me when sense and reason and every finer instinct of the natural heart would rebel--because she knows that I am working in her for eternity, and that what I do, though she knows not the explanation now, she will understand hereafter.

Week after week, with unfaltering and steadfast spirit, Elijah watched the dwindling brook; often tempted to stagger through unbelief, but refusing to allow his circumstances to come between himself and God. Unbelief sees God through circumstances, as we sometimes see the sun shorn of his rays through smoky air, but faith puts God between itself and circumstances, and looks at them through Him. And so the dwindling brook became a silver thread; and the silver thread stood presently in pools at the foot of the largest boulders; and the pools shrank; the birds fled; the wild creatures of field and forest came no more to drink; the brook was dry. Most of us would have gotten anxious and worn with planning long before that. We should have ceased our songs as soon as the streamlet caroled less musically over its rocky bed; and with harps swinging on the willows, we should have paced to and fro upon the withering grass, lost in pensive thought. And probably, long ere the brook was dry, we should have devised some plan, and asking God's blessing on it, would have started off elsewhere.
God often does extricate us, because His mercy endureth forever, but if we had only waited first to see the unfolding of His plans, we should never have found ourselves landed in such an inextricable labyrinth; and we should never have been compelled to retrace our steps with so many tears of shame. I try to see the dry period as a time of waiting. After all, I gladly wait for loved ones when their planes are delayed, wait on hold for computer help lines, wait in line for a concert I want to attend. Waiting need not kill time; it uses time, in anticipation of something to come.
Sometimes I come to God out of sheer determination of will, which may seem inauthentic. When I do so, however, I need not put on a mask. God already knows the state of my soul. I am not telling God anything new, but I am bearing witness to my love for God by praying even when I don't feel like it. I express my underlying faith simply by showing up.
When I am tempted to complain about God's lack of presence, I remind myself that God has much more reason to complain about my lack of presence. I reserve a few minutes a day for God, but how many times do I drown out or ignore the quiet voice that speaks to my conscience and my life? "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock," have become familiar words from Revelation, often stretched into an evangelistic message. But Jesus addressed those words to a church full of believers. Quite a few people seem to have trials and battles because they don't feel close to Jesus. They think, "I must not be close to the Lord, because I just don't feel close to Him!"
The Bible makes it very clear that we are to walk by faith, not sight. If we start trusting or relying too much on our feelings as an indicator of how well we're doing spiritually, we're going to be very unstable. We would be continually tossed to and fro by every wind of feeling that happens to come along.6 We'd never know how we were going to be doing tomorrow, as that would be determined by how we feel when we get up in the morning.
Regardless of how we may happen to feel, if we love the Lord and are walking by faith and obeying His Word, then we know that our relationship with the Lord is firm. And we certainly know that His love for us is unchangeable, unwavering. He says, "I have loved thee with an everlasting love." PART 7: RECURRENCE OF 2012 & 2016
A New Investigation by Tom Horn
A couple of points need clarification at the beginning of this entry having to do with 1) date-setting; and 2) extra-biblical sources for interpreting end-times prophecy. Setting dates in particular for eschatological affairs have been illustrated historically to be unwise, discrediting those who make such predictions concerning the timing of future events. In general, Christians should simply always be ready for the end of the age and the coming of Christ, because, "Ye know not what hour your Lord doth come" (Matthew 24:42). Jesus further told His followers that the exact date of His arrival would be known by "no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only" (Matthew 24:36). While the particular moment of His appearance thus remains a mystery, elsewhere Jesus explained that the "signs of the times" can be discerned (Matthew 16:3), and when His closest disciples asked Him frankly, "What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?" He provided a long list of specific indicators that would herald His arrival. He then added that, "When ye shall see these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled" (Matthew 24:3; 33 - 34). Therefore, while most Christians agree they cannot know the exact "hour" of Christ's coming or the end of the age, they can know the "season."
Another issue when interpreting end-time "signs" comes from the use of non-canonical sources. This is obviously problematic when it includes occult sources such as the writings of famous seers like Edgar Cayce or Jeane Dixon. However, aside from such spirit mediums, it is helpful to recall other bona fide revelations that arrived from sources that today would not set well in our denominational boxes. For instance, Nebuchadnezzar's dream from Daniel 2. God chose to reveal a prophecy spanning from 605 BC through the second coming of Christ to an arrogant narcissistic pagan king and then required his holy servant, Daniel, to interpret the dream for him. Similarly, God used Balaam, a darkened wizard who now lives in prophetic infamy (2 Peter 2:15; Jude 11; Revelation 2:14) to prophesy, "I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth" (Numbers 24:17), a text which scholars today believe spoke unmistakably of the coming of the Messiah. This Pethorian prediction was well over one thousand years before the birth of Christ and from a hostile source, yet it is probably what led the Magi to Bethlehem. The nameless author of the allegedly lost La profezia used Balaam as an example as well, remarking that the gift of prophecy "is essentially a free supernatural gift, in which God certifies the truth of His faith by communicating to different souls, sometimes even infidels like Balaam, in whom altered states have occurred inspiring them spontaneously to speak marvelously of the most sublime mystery of God."[i] Of course we are instructed in the New Testament not to despise prophesying (1 Thessalonians 5:20) as it is a part of the Church Age.
Having stated the above, not everybody accepts the wisdom of discussing ancient extra-biblical texts or dates such as the years 2012 and 2016 in particular, most publicly identified with the end of the Mayan Calendar Long Count and Precession Cycle. Yet we do so precisely because the upcoming release of Zenith 2016 and others we have written intend to unveil not just what Bible scholars believe about the end times, but what occultists are convinced of and are dedicated to fulfilling. Knowledge is power, we believe, and prayer is most effective when the target is understood. Our enemy is definitely scheming over particular dates, and from Scripture we learn that demons know something about times and dispensations and plot within them, something they most assuredly want Christians to remain ignorant of. For instance, recall when Jesus went into the valley of the Gadarenes and two exceedingly fierce men possessed with devils came out of the tombs crying, "What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?" (Matthew 8:28 - 29; emphasis added). The Greek word for "time" in this verse is kairos, and means a fixed and definite period of days, a decisive epoch waited for. Somehow
the evil spirits knew the dispensation of their judgment had not yet arrived, and knowing they perceive such things, it is not hard to imagine extra-biblical prophecies by those such as the Maya or the Cumaean Sibyl having been infused with occult energy providing supernatural perception and deception. This was illustrated again in the story of Jannes and Jambres (2 Timothy 3:8), who withstood Moses in the Old Testament, and the Pythian priestess in the New Testament (Acts 16:16 - 17), who somehow knew that God had sent Paul. This fact--that demons can prophesy, know something of times and seasons, and want true Christians to remain ignorant of their schemes related to those specific periods--is especially important at this juncture because while the first part of the "final mystery of the Great Seal" involves who is prophesied to rule the novus order seclorum, the second, more disturbing, aspect of the US national cipher has to do with when this deity--and its Nephilim army--are predicted to arrive.
From Christians to New Agers, skeptics to historians, the world was enthralled until recently with the meaning of the year 2012. In general, the excitement (or dread, as the case may be) surrounded a variety of predictions made by ancient and modern sources concerning a portentous moment in time. Mankind was on course toward unprecedented global upheaval, according to these experts, when the Earth, and all life upon it, will undergo apocalyptica marked by the "thirteenth baktun" of the Mesoamerican Mayan Long Count. The exact end date of this calendar was December 21, 2012, when during the winter solstice at 11:11 GMT (Greenwich Mean Time), the sun arose in Sagittarius, the centaur with a bow--the symbol for Nimrod coming out from the mouth of Leviathan and the sun "god" rising again--Nimrod/Osiris/Apollo. The Mayans predicted this conjunction, interpreting it as a harbinger of the end of the world as we know it and the beginning of a final era. While the Maya were not alone among ancient cultures in this regard--for instance, the Hindu Kali Yuga calendar started approximately during the Mayan Fifth Great Cycle and also predicted global Earth changes following the year 2012--it is the Maya who were mostly credited with fixing the importance of this date. Researchers say cataclysmic events associated with this final dispensation have already started, including geologic upheaval, drought, famine, mass extinction, and the arrival of solar maximum following the year 2012.
Like the Aztec and Inca, the Maya believed Earth seasons and celestial cycles were affected by otherworldly and prophetic significance. Mayan priests interpreted such activity and coupled it with the mathematics of their calendars, making predictions based on the terrestrial and celestial cycles.
Early on, the only known Mayan inscription that elaborated on the specific significance behind the end of the thirteenth baktun--December 21, 2012--was discovered on Monument 6 at Tortuguero, in Tabasco, Mexico. Though defaced from area construction and previous looting of the archaeological location, scholars were able to partially translate the monument, finding that it referred to the year 2012 and a return of the spirit of Bolon Yokte K'u, the underworld lord who represents the solar system and the nine support gods orbiting the Sun.
The inscription: Tzuhtz-(a)j-oom u(y)-uxlajuun pik (ta) Chan Ajaw ux(-te') Uniiw. Uht-oom ? Y-em(al)?? Bolon Yookte' K'uh ta ?
The interpretation: "The Thirteenth 'Bak'tun" will be finished (on) Four Ajaw, the Third of Uniiw (K'ank'in). ? will occur. (It will be) the descent (??) of the Nine Support? God(s) to the ?."
While New Agers admitted the end of the Mayan calendar thus heralded the return of the spirit of Bolon Yokte K'u to Earth beginning in 2012 (the date the Toltec prophesied the return of the spirit Quetzalcoatl), a few rightly claimed this advent and the roll-over of the Mayan calendar and Jaguar prophecies accompanying it did not forecast the end of the world but rather a new dispensation or Golden Age of ascended consciousness.
And the Maya were not the only ancient society to foresee the beginning of a new epoch starting in 2012.
For instance, the "Cherokee Rattlesnake Prophecies," also known as the "Chickamaugan Prophecy" or the "Cherokee Star Constellation Prophecies," are part of a series of apocalyptic prophecies made by members of the Cherokee tribe during 1811 - 1812. The prophecies are very similar to Mesoamerican belief, and are viewed by scholars as likely referring to the return of Quetzalcoatl in 2012 - 2016. Like the Maya, the Cherokee calendar ended mysteriously in the year 2012 when astronomical phenomena related to Jupiter, Venus, Orion, and Pleiades caused the "powers" of the star systems to "awaken."
A portion of the "Rattlesnake Prophecy" reads:
At this time [the end of 2012] of the fingers striking Jupiter that Orion Star System will awaken. And the Pleiades and Orion will war once again as in old. Jupiter and Venus will awaken to its destiny of Time/Untime of cycles. Orion will war with Pleiades, Jupiter will war with Venus....
[Following] the year...2012 an alignment will take place both on the Cherokee calendar and in the heavens of the Rattlesnake Constellation.... It is the time of the double headed serpent stick. It is the time of the red of Orion and Jupiter against the white blue of Pleiades and Venus...the Cherokee Rattlesnake Constellation will take on a different configuration. The snake itself will remain, however; upon the Rattlesnake shall be added upon its head feathers, its eyes will open and glow, wings spring forth as a winged rattlesnake. It shall have hands and arms and in its hands shall be a bowl. The bowl will hold blood. Upon its tail of seven rattles shall be the glowing and movement of Pleiades.
The Rattlesnake shall become a feathered rattlesnake or feathered serpent of Time/Untime [Quetzalcoatl?].
And upon the Rattlesnake is also the Milky Way. A crossing of the Milky Way shall be seen at these times.
And the Cherokee calendar shall end in the year 2012...[heralding] the coming of the Pale One once again.
2012 and Prophecy from the Zohar on Messiah's Return
Widely considered the most important work of Jewish Kabbalah, the Zohar is a collection of books written in medieval Aramaic over seven hundred years ago containing mystical commentary on the Pentateuch (five books of Moses, the Torah). In addition to interpreting Scripture, the Vaera section (volume 3, section 34) includes, "The signs heralding Mashiach," or, "The coming of the Messiah." The fascinating date for "his" appearance is set in the Zohar during 2012 - 2013. Given the rejection of Jesus by orthodox Jews as Messiah, this seven-hundred-year-old prediction indicates the Antichrist "arrived" circa 2012 - 2013.
The Eight-Hundred-Year-Old Prophecy of Rabbi Judah Ben Samuel
Will the years immediately following 2016 be prophetically important for Israel and the world? Earlier we noted when seventy years (a biblical generation) is added to 1948--the year Israel was formally recognized as an independent nation by the United Nations--it brings us through the year 2018. Does this mean the year 2019--exactly seven years after 2012--would mark the year that Jesus Christ returns with the armies of heaven to establish His rule over Earth? According to an eight-hundred-year-old prophecy, it certainly could. Before he died of cancer, J. R. Church analyzed the ancient predictions of Rabbi Judah Ben Samuel and noted:
Ludwig Schneider, writing for Israel Today (March 2008) said, "Some 800 years ago in Germany, Rabbi Judah Ben Samuel was a top Talmudic scholar with an inclination for the mystical. Before he died in the year 1217, he prophesied that the Ottoman Turks would conquer Jerusalem and rule the Holy City for 'eight Jubilee Years.'" A biblical Jubilee year consists of 50 years. Fifty multiplied by eight equals 400 years.
Afterwards, according to Ben Samuel, the Ottomans would be driven out of Jerusalem, which would remain a no-man's land for one Jubilee year. In the tenth Jubilee year [2017]...the Messianic end times would begin....
Looking back at Ben Samuel's prediction, we should note that the Ottoman Empire did conquer Jerusalem in 1517, exactly 300 years after the rabbi's death, and was defeated 400 years later in 1917.
In Israel Today, Ludwig Schneider continues, "This came to pass 300 years after Ben Samuel's death. He could not have based this prophecy on events that could be foreseen, but only on the results of his study of the Bible.
According to Leviticus 25, the nation is reunited with its land in the year of Jubilee. Therefore, the Jubilee year plays an important role in Israel's history. In this case, the Jubilee began with the defeat and conquest of the Mamelukes in Jerusalem by the Ottoman Kingdom in 1517. The Turks reigned over Jerusalem until the British General Edmund Allenby defeated them exactly eight Jubilees later in 1917.
"Ben Samuel's prophecy was fulfilled precisely because 1517 to 1917 is exactly 400 years. Afterward, Jerusalem was a no-man's land for 50 years during the time of the British Mandate (1917 - 1967) and the time of Jordanian rule (1947 - 1967), another Jubilee year. During the Six Day War in 1967, Israel captured Jerusalem from Jordan and the city returned to the Jewish people after nearly two millennia of exile. After that, the countdown for the Messianic age began."
Schneider assumes that since Rabbi Judah Ben Samuel's prediction appears to be fulfilled to date, then 2017 should launch the beginning of the Messianic era.
2012 and Matthew 24
Is it possible that Jesus marked the year 2012 as the start of the final age? When His disciples asked, "Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world [aion]?" (Matthew 24:3), Jesus answered, "as the Days of Noe [Noah] were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be" (Matthew 24:37).
The word aion in this text is not the general word for "time" (chronos) in Greek. Aion is the word the Greeks used to designate an actual cycle of the Milky Way alignments or the span of an age. Before he passed away, David Flynn emailed me to say: "The answer Jesus provided His apostles for 'when' the end of the aion would occur was specific. The astronomical signs in the heavens would be just as those during the days of Noah when Leviathan encircled the horizon in the dawn of the Summer solstice. There could have been no more accurate comparison made between our present time than the age of Noah.... The present aion is coming to a close. Like the sunteleia before, there will be great upheaval and change."

Yet of all such fascinating findings Dr. Hutchings describes in The Great Pyramid: Prophecy In Stone, the sections in his book I found most interesting focus on the missing head cornerstone (apex stone, capstone) of the Great Pyramid, and the curious verses in Psalms 118:22 and Acts 4:11 pertaining to Jesus as the "stone" the builders rejected and that has become the "head cornerstone." As Hutchings points out, the only kind of building in all the world that requires a head cornerstone is a pyramid. Because of this, Hutchings believes the "pillar" that Isaiah (Isaiah 19:19 - 20) said would stand as a "sign and for a witness unto the Lord" in the end times may be the Great Pyramid on the old border that separated lower and upper Egypt.
Conversely, a few years ago, another friend named Patrick (Paddy) Heron wrote a book entitled Pyramid of the Apocalypse, in which he postulated that the Great Pyramid at Giza had been built by the nephilim, the offspring of Watchers. Besides associated legends, part of his reasoning had to do with the scale of the massive undertaking and the same biblical parallels--the one hundred forty-four thousand, the missing capstone, etc.--which Heron viewed as the Watchers trying to copy, plagiarize, mimic, or borrow from the fame of something known only to the angels, namely, the design of the New Jerusalem in heaven, whose height and width are the same, as in a pyramidal structure (as opposed to those who believe the New Jerusalem will be cube-shaped).

Giant Sphinx Discovered Among Bermuda Triangle Pyramids

Perhaps overshadowing the discoveries of the tomb of King Tut and Troy is the discovery of Atlantis. Now two bold scientists, Paul Weinzweig and Pauline Zalitzki, say they have found it. They discovered the ruins of the ancient city submerged off the coast of Cuba. In the distant past the region was dry land, but now only the island of Cuba remains above water. The ancient city is 600 feet below the ocean and the team of researchers led by Zalitzki Weinzweig is convinced that it is Atlantis, the city lost by more than 10,000 years. Two scientists, Paul Weinzweig and Pauline Zalitzki, working off the coast of Cuba in a submersible robot, have confirmed that there is a huge city on the ocean floor. The site of the ancient city - including several sphinxes and at least four giant pyramids and other structures - is surprisingly within the boundaries of the legendary Bermuda Triangle.
According to a report from Terra Forming Terra Arclein, Cuban Subsea Pyramid Complex, the evidence suggests that the city was flooded simultaneously with the rising waters and land subsidence in the sea. This corresponds exactly to the legend of Atlantis. The disaster could have occurred at the end of the last Ice Age. As the Arctic ice sheet melted catastrophically causing the sea level to rise rapidly around the world, especially affecting the Northern Hemisphere. The coastlines changed; land was lost, islands (including the island continent) disappeared completely. At end of the last ice age sea level were lower than today's levels of nearly 122 meters. Theoretically, any technology then or now, could have saved Atlantis from its watery grave. The evidence that the earth, in what is now the Caribbean, also sank in the sea seems pretty certain.
Arclein observes: "when large portions of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge also decreased including Lyones and islands and land mass around the Azores. Even if this has not happened, this collapse was big enough. "This would have produced an orthogonal pressure forcing the collapse of East or West. Since the cord between Cuba and Yucatan is the natural point of weakness between the subsidence of the basin subsidence Gulf and Caribbean basin, naturally gone deep. The driver of this was the hydrostatic changes caused by both the original cortical change 12,900 years ago I called the Pleistocene Nonconformity and slowly lift the basin of Hudson Bay prompted by the end of the Ice Age. "
Cuban Missile Crisis Halts Research
According to journalist Luis Mariano Fernandez the city was first discovered decades ago, but all access to her was arrested during and after the Missile Crisis. "The U.S. government discovered the alleged place during the Missile Crisis Cuba in the sixties, nuclear submarines cruising structures found (in the deep sea) with a pyramid in the Gulf. Immediately shut down the site and took control of it and objects, so that will not reach the hands of the Russians. "
The scientific team of experts from the ocean, oceanographers and archaeologists found ruins of ancient buildings of 183 meters below the ocean. They say the city is Atlántida (Atlantis).
The evidence that the island of Cuba is the remnant of a once mighty culture is supported by the discovery of the island Zalitzki containing symbols and pictograms extremely old identical to those observed in the structures submarines. Utilizing submersibles, they discovered structures, including pyramids, similar (even higher than) the pyramids in Giza, Egypt. They believe that the pyramids of Atlantis are built with stones of several hundred tons. The ancient city also has magnificent sphinxes and "stones which are arranged like Stonehenge, and a written language engraved in stones," advises Fernandez . A Discovery That Rewrites History
Could this discovery change the vision of the history of mankind? Yes, it could change everything.
Fernandez writes, "It has been confirmed that the stones were cut, carved and polished to make them fit and form larger structures. In the strange inscriptions, some of them similar to Egyptian hieroglyphics, very little is known, except that they are very abundant and are found in almost all parts of the field. They have also appeared symbols and drawings whose meaning is unknown. "
The exploration of Atlantis, called Project Exploramar, is expanding to discover more of the mysteries of the mega-ciudad.Hablando with a scientist about the possibility that the ruins are, in fact, the Atlantis, FernanEdez reports that the expert answered :
"... In today's Yucatan cultures may even Aborigines are those places perhaps the Olmecs or some very primitive civilization of Yucatan, the northern part of Central America - as they originated on an island that sank by cataclysm. This island is called Atlanticú. "
It also adapts to the stories about the sudden disappearance of Atlantis wonderfully.
Atlanticú. Atlantis. Aboriginal natives still call in its history. The Olmecs and other native peoples all have primary morphology marking the arrival of this continent. This means coming from the direction of Cuba, and had to occur in a very large earthquake where their land sank. Morphologies indicate that they belong to three families who were saved. Forebodings were voiced Wednesday, May 29, by senior Israeli military officers in the face of the widening military intervention in the Syria civil war by Russia, Iran, Hizballah and latterly Iraq too. They have made Syria's civil war the platform for a Russian contest against the West and a ladder up which Iran and its proxy Hizballah are climbing to top Middle East regional power spot. - Russia, Iran and Hizballah are winning the contest by default against an unresisting US-led West and a hesitant Israel. - A senior IDF officer acknowledged on Wednesday, May 29, that Israel's government and military leaders are at a loss on how to proceed. They have yet to recover from the calamitous miscalculation that Bashar Assad's days were numbered to which they clung stubbornly for almost eighteen months.
Even today, some spokesmen refer to a "disintegrating Syria," thereby losing sight of the major strategic and military changes overtaking the country that are entirely to Israel's detriment as well as eroding its options against a nuclear Iran. - At a time that the US and Israel should be using their heaviest military guns to slow Iran's race for a nuclear bomb, Tehran with Moscow's backing has brought its military assets up close to Israel's borders in Syria and Lebanon and openly threatens to use them.
Unlike Syria and Iran, Israel can't count on military intervention against an aggressor by supportive big powers. According to DEBKAfile's Washington sources, no part of the Obama administration, including its military and intelligence arms, favors military action in Syria. - Even the direct evidence of chemical warfare already afoot in Syria is unavailing.
In Addis Ababa, US Secretary of State John Kerry repeated the administration's mantra Wednesday by denying "concrete evidence" of the use of chemical weapons in Syria. - The Secretary and the rest of NATO were deaf to the vivid testimony brought to Le Monde Wednesday by two reporters, who risked their necks by spending two months concealed in the Jobar district of Damascus. They discovered Russia or Iran had developed a chemical weapon that does not explode. The release of its poisonous gases sounds like popping the top off a can of soda and has "no odor, no smoke, not even a whistle to indicate the release of a toxic gas." - So what does happen?
The Le Monde reporters provided a graphic first-hand description.
"The men cough violently. Their eyes burn, their pupils shrink, their vision blurs. Soon they experience difficulty breathing, sometimes in the extreme; they begin to vomit or lose consciousness. The fighters worst affected need to be evacuated before they suffocate." - Wednesday morning, the Israeli Home Front rehearsed an attack on a Jerusalem suburb by a chemical-tipped missile.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who watched, said the exercise is designed to protect Israeli civilians "from the threats pilling up around us." Israel's home front is the best protected in the world but also the most threatened, he said: "We must make sure that defense is in place before an attack. - Tuesday, Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon voiced his certainty that the Syrian President would not use chemical weapons against Israel or treat Israelis the way he treats his own people. There is no indication that anyone in the region intends to challenge us any time soon with unconventional weapons, said the defense minister.
DEBKAfile's military sources find Ya'alon's comment delusory. They don't see why Assad would treat Israelis differently from his own people - especially since the IDF has presented him with no real deterrent. After all, none of Israel's three air strikes in January and May stopped the flow of Hizballah fighters into Syria. And meanwhile, Syrian and Hizballah leaders are declaring loud and clear that a war front against Israel is already operating from the Syrian Golan and Lebanon. - The question is who in Israel is listening. And what is being done to make sure that Assad will be prevented from using chemical weapons against Israeli military and civilian targets at a time of his convenience. - The spate of events in the last 48 hours is troubling - to say the least. - Monday, US Senator John McCain was reported to have paid a secret visit to Syria. What did this "visit" consist of? DEBKAfile reports: The senator entered Syria from Turkey through the Kilis corridor which is the main supply route for the rebels in Aleppo, one of the few still under their control. McCain penetrated some 300 meters into Syria, had his picture taken, and left.
A US publication reported Wednesday that President Barack Obama had ordered the Pentagon to draw up plans to establish no-fly zones over Syria against Syrian warplanes. The Pentagon thereupon issued a denial: "There are no new American operational plans," said the spokesman.
Moscow's response was ready in place even before the report was published. - Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said the S-300 anti-air missiles that Russia was supplying the Assad regime were a "stabilizing factor" that could dissuade "some hotheads" from entering the conflict.
In the grades Moscow handed out for foreign interventionists: The US and Israel and their leaders were "hotheads" while Moscow, the calm, rational stabilizer. - In that capacity, DEBKAfile's military and intelligence sources reveal that a huge Russian cargo plane landed in Latakia airport Wednesday with 60 tons of "humanitarian aid for Syria." - The nature of this cargo was not disclosed, but the last thing it must have been was "humanitarian" given the massive military aid Moscow is extending Assad's army. - Moscow also knocked on the head the timorous decision by European Union foreign ministers Tuesday to lift the arms embargo for Syrian rebels, which they carefully combined with a decision not to send them weapons.
In sum, the US is not doing anything to help the rebels, Europe is not sending arms, the rebels' Persian Gulf patrons have bowed to pressure from Washington and slashed their weapons aid, while Israel declares it wants no part of the Syrian civil war - even after it assumed the calamitous proportions of a world power contest with Israel's arch foes gaining the upper hand. - So who is feeding the flames of the Syrian conflict with a generous supply of military hardware? Who but Russia, the self-styled "stabilizing factor"
The Free Syrian Army's Supreme Commander Gen. Salem Idris made a desperate show of bravado Wednesday, by threatening to strike Hizballah strongholds in Lebanon if Hassan Nasrallah does not pull his brigades out of Syria within 24 hours.
Hizballah knows perfectly well that Gen. Salem is starved of weapons, just he knows that the US, Europe or Israel will not interfere with the stream of fighting strength he is pumping into Syria. - At worst, a few rockets will hit Hizballah centers in Beirut and the Beqaa Valley. Early Tuesday morning, the rebels tried to ambush Hizballah forces near the eastern town of Arsal. Their operation went badly wrong and mistakenly killed three Lebanese soldiers manning an army checkpoint. - The senior Israeli officer interviewed by DEBKAfile put all these forebodings into words when he said: "A military and strategic catastrophe for the West and Israel is in full flight in Syria, and no one in Washington or Jerusalem is lifting a finger. Israel's government and military heads never imagined that the Syrian war would take this turn. But we had better wake up at this eleventh hour - before it is too late."

Turkish Police find Chemical Weapons in the Possession of Al Nusra Terrorists heading for Syria

According to a report in Turkey's state media agency Zaman, agents from the Turkish General Directorate of Security (Emniyet Genel Müdürlüğü) ceased 2 kg of sarin gas in the city of Adana in the early hours of yesterday morning. The chemical weapons were in the possession of Al Nusra terrorists believed to have been heading for Syria.
Sarin gas is a colourless, odorless substance which is extremely difficult to detect. The gas is banned under the 1993 Chemical Weapons Convention.
The EGM identified 12 members of the AL Nusra terrorist cell and also ceased fire arms and digital equipment. This is the second major official confirmation of the use of chemical weapons by
Al-Qaeda terrorists in Syria after UN inspector Carla Del Ponte's recent statement confirming the use of chemical weapons by the Western-backed terrorists in Syria.
The Turkish police are currently conducting further investigations into the operations of Al-Qaeda linked groups in Turkey.[1]
This further confirmation that the Syrian 'rebels' are using chemical weapons while also using Turkey as a base of terrorist operations against Syria, could cause further domestic problems for Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, whom Turkish opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu has called the 'chief of the terrorists'.[2]
The Syrian National Coalition abroad has persisted in accusing the Syrian government of using chemical weapons. The Syrian National Coalition Head of Media Khaled Saleh told Al Jazeera on May 26th that Turkish authorities were certain about the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian government.
Saleh also claimed that he was in contact with several 'brigades' fighting in Syria. Perhaps, Mr. Saleh should be advised to consult the Turkish police now that one of his 'brigades' has been arrested in possession of chemical weapons.[3]
Unsurprisingly, this Turkish report failed to make international headlines. From the beginning of the Syrian war, the international press agencies have attempted to portray the Al-Qaeda invasion of Syria as a 'popular revolution', which started out as a 'peaceful protest' against a 'brutal regime'. The fact that there was never a modicum of evidence to support such claims has not hindered the avalanche of vituperation and demonization of Syrian president Bashar Al-Assad and the Syrian Arab Republic.
France's daily Le Monde published an 'exclusive' report on the 27th of May 2013 which claimed to have 'proof' that the Syrian government was using chemical weapons 'against its own people'. However, the report simply relied on statements by 'activists' and 'rebels', who most serious commentators have described as unreliable sources of information.
Le Monde's report came just in time as the French government was pushing the European Union to lift the embargo on arms to the terrorists in Syria. The confirmation by previous articles in Le Monde that the opposition in Syria is in fact Al Qaeda [4],
together with the reluctance of EU partners Germany, Austria, and other countries to openly back the terrorists, has isolated Paris and London, exposing the British and French governments as state sponsors of terrorism.
In January 2013, Russian television station RT published leaked documents from British corporation Britam Defense, which revealed a plan by Qatar to deliver chemical weapons to Homs in Syria, with the aid of Britam Defense. The British company was to provide Ukrainian personnel to act as Russian military advisors in order to implicate the Russian government in the crime. The email suggested that the Qataris were providing 'enormous' amounts of money for the plan and that it was approved by Washington. [5]
The Japhat Al-Nosra terrorist organization has not hidden its desire to gas the Alawite minority in Syria. A video was posted on U Tube on December 4th 2012 showing terrorists testing chemical weapons on rabbits, while vowing to exterminate Alawite Syrians in a similar fashion.[6]
Iran's Press TV also published a report which showed terrorists using chemical weapons.[7]
As the Western-backed terrorists lose ground to government forces in Syria, the likelihood of further massacres committed by the terrorists and blamed on the Syrian government grows. However, as more and more reports contradict the official media narrative on the Syrian war, the voices of truth are acquiring critical mass, threatening to bring down once and for all NATO's oppressive media empire.

Is Houston, Texas a Tar Sands "Sacrifice Zone"?

Much of the debate around the Keystone XL pipeline has focused on the dangers of extracting and transporting the tar sands. Left out, however, are those in the United States who are guaranteed to feel the impacts of increased tar sands usage. Spill or no spill, anyone living near a tar sands refinery will bear the burden of the refining process.
Tar sands oil is produced from a mixture of sand, clay, water, and the sticky, peanut-butter like form of petroleum known as bitumen. Unlike conventional crude, it's essentially solid at room temperature, has a higher heavy metal content, and has to be diluted for transport. The diluents are trade secrets, and the content mixture - which often contains benzene, a human carcinogen - isn't something companies are required to report.
DeSmogBlog has covered the impacts of tar sands extraction on indigenous communities, and the dangers of moving tar sands through a network of pipelines is aptly covered here. And while major nonprofits have completed studies on the dangers of transporting tar sands, there is significantly less information available on how refining tar sands differs from processing conventional crude.
Additional heavy metals and benzene might sound like a recipe for disaster anywhere, but the location of several major tar sands refineries is already overburdened with pollutants. In Harris County, Texas - home to the city of Houston - people are already surrounded by refineries and factories spewing toxins into the air. And as the southern leg of the Keystone XL project slowly fills in its missing pieces, the spectre of toxic bitumen looms.
Harris County, Texas, is home to the Lyondell Houston Refinery. The Lyondell facility is expanding its ability to refine tar sands bitumen, attempting to more than double its capacity to process Canadian crude. Nevermind that the refinery already has numerous Clean Air and Clean Water Act violations. If the facility expands as planned, its capacity will increase from 60,000 to 175,000 barrels a day.
The air quality in Harris County is already dangerous without the added burden of tar sands pollution. Although levels of many chemicals have decreased in recent years, residents are reaping the rewards of living so close to massive amounts of carcinogenic pollution. A 2006 study by the Texas government found increased rates of certain cancers in the Harris County population.
Children living in the areas with the highest level of 1,3 butadiene had a 153% higher chance of developing acute myeloid leukemia than those living in areas with the lowest concentrations of the same chemical. A 2003 study found a positivecorrelation between ozone density and asthma in Harris County residents, and the cancer risk of Houston residents living in the most contaminated areas is increased by a factor of 1000.
Though the Lyondell website advertises winning "13 national safety awards in the past five years," the Lyondell Chemical Co. has the second highest rate of disposing of toxics of any industrial facility in Harris County. The more you learn, the worse it gets. In 2011, Harris County accounts for 14.74 percent of total Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) measured chemical releases and transfers in Texas. Texas is already ranks 3rd highest (worst) in terms of pounds of toxics released an or transferred - out of 56 states and territories.
Lyondell Chemical Co. owns Houston Refining, a facility in Manchester, Texas which has been the subject of four formal EPA enforcement acts in the last five years. The company was fined $549,055 for violating the Clean Air Act, and yet, as of April, 2013, the facility has had 12 consecutive quarters of non-compliance. The area around Houston refining is 80% minority, with about one out of every four people below the federal poverty line.
Despite these grim statistics, the refinery was granted a pollution permit from the Texas Council on Environmental Quality without the requested public hearing in 2010. Residents were concerned about benzene exposure, which is likely to increase with greater refining of the tar sands. Already, the neighborhood has seen struggles over controlling the amount of benzene in the air.
A 2011 report by the Texas Center for Environmental Quality revealed decreasing levels of toxins in the air, but some residents claim that the data is based off of faulty and broken air quality monitors. Still, the decreasing levels are likely unsafe: Texas has some of the highest 'safe' benchmarks for carcinogens in the country. Additionally, the cummulitave effect of lifetime exposure to a "toxic soup" of "safe" levels of chemicals is unknown.
With toxic chemical exposure nearly certain, it is unclear what the next step will be for residents of Harris County. It's clear the area isn't facing the impacts of the Keystone XL on the same timeline as the rest of the nation. President Obama already approved the lower leg of the pipeline, and the connection from Cushing, OK to Port Arthur, TX is almost complete.
Once built, the Cushing hub will connect to other pipelines and transportation systems moving tar sands from Alberta. For many residents of Harris County, this is a life or death struggle more immediate than the "what-if" of a pipeline spill. And it's not a "what-if." For Harris County, the fight is "right now."
