Greetings. This has been another week in which world events seem to have continued to move at a frenetic pace. The roller coaster ride of the stock markets around the world, while continuing their ever downward spiral. The news that the big three auto makers in the US, General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler, are on the verge of bankruptcy and the cataclysm that would ensue if or when such an event would occur, more job lay offs worldwide, almost seventy thousand factories closing in China in the past few months, more chain store bankruptcies and closures, etc. We are truly living in incredible times. In fact the End Times.

We would however like to return to the theme of our "Weekly Editorial" of two weeks ago. (To read the entire editorial go to the Weekly Editorial archive for "Age of Deception".)

In that editorial we discussed 1Samuel Chapter eight describing how the people of Israel demanded that Samuel give them a king and that Israel be ruled as other nations, under a king and not ruled by a prophet. Samuel did as they demanded, at God's instructions, but Samuel also told them what would be the consequences of their demand. 1 Samuel 8:12 reads "This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots. (Drafted them into the military.)

This is where we would like to continue this week. There is a possible "plan" being prepared that could affect large numbers living in the United States. What we are referring to here will be a policy that is being proposed by the incoming new administrations Chief of Staff, Rahmn Emanuel. told of requiring students to serve

The official website of President-Elect Barack Obama, Change.gov, originally announced that Obama would "require" all middle school through college students to participate in community service programs; but after a flurry of blogs protested children being drafted into Obama's proposed youth corps, the website's wording was softened.

"Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by developing a plan to require 50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year," the site announced.

The language of requiring students to serve and the creation of a "Classroom Corps" sparked a surge of criticism from bloggers for bringing back memories of the much-publicized video of marching Obama youth and Obama's "civilian national security force," which the candidate said in July as the U.S. military.would be just as powerful and well-funded

Following the furor raised by bloggers, however, the website's wording was changed.

The word "require" was stricken from the website yesterday, replaced with the phrase "setting a goal" and now also listing tax credits toward college tuition.

In all fairness, we can't really call Obama's proposed national service plan a new draft. First, he's not talking about requiring young people to do military service. Second, we are getting decidedly mixed signals as to whether the service will be compulsory. At first, the word "required" was used freely; now we see much talk of tax credits, less talk of requirement.

Nevertheless, this new program certainly feels like the next step toward a new draft. Just as Ike's planners made sure that the national highway system could see usage as a military transport system, Obama's civilian service corps could make mustering a draft army much, much easier.

You probably already know this quote, from a speech he gave in Colorado Springs:

"We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

Obama now seems to have drawn this big idea from Rahm Emanuel, who wrote the book ominously called The Plan:

"It's time for a real Patriot Act that brings out the patriot in all of us. We propose universal civilian service for every young American. Under this plan, All Americans between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five will be asked to serve their country by going through three months of basic training, civil defense preparation and community service. ..."

"Here's how it would work. Young people will know that between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five, the nation will enlist them for three months of civilian service. They'll be asked to report for three months of basic civil defense training in their state or community, where they will learn what to do in the event of biochemical, nuclear or conventional attack; how to assist others in an evacuation; how to respond when a levee breaks or we're hit by a natural disaster. These young people will be available to address their communities' most pressing needs."

Wittily, Emanuel adds: "This is not a draft."

I always get a little worried -- more than a little, truth be told -- when politicians insist that our post-Apocalypse clean-up crew is insufficiently staffed. That sort of talk makes me wonder what they're up to. Especially when we think back to the ominous words of one Joseph Biden:

"It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking... Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

What you do regarding this information is of course entirely up to you. There is a saying that says "to be forwarned is to be forarmed".

Our only hope in this world today is Jesus! John 16:13 says " Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come." This is referring to the Holy Spirit. If you do not know what to do regarding this or any situation the best thing you could do is to call on Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Jeremiah 33:3 says, "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."

If you have not already called on Jesus for salvation you can do so right now, then you will know that no matter what happens in the world, you future is secure with Him. Just pray this prayer to make sure your place is reserved in Heaven: Dear Jesus I know I have been bad at times in the past. I need your forgiveness and ask that you do forgive me for my sins and short comings. I ask you to please come into my life and heart, forgive my sins and give me eternal life, in Jesus name I pray.
