He is attributed as being the first to say, “In war, truth is the first casualty”.
And how like a Greek tragedy the world of today seems, to be heading with breakneck speed to its tragic end.
And how easily can Aeschylus' quote; “In war, truth is the first casualty” be seen. It seems to be engulfing the planet in the absurd flood of propaganda of the thousands upon thousands articles issuing from the pens of those attempting to influence the minds of the worlds masses. And according to the Bible it is only going to get worse!
This immense flood of lying propaganda is definitely one of the signs we are living in the End Times!

In many cases it is true that the general public has a short memory, but do the powers that control the nations think the public has no memory at all. Think Libya, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc. and now the Ukraine.
Because the Ukraine is so prominent in the news, and rightly so, our first several articles deal with this subject.
The article, Washington’s Arrogance, Hubris, and Evil Have Set the Stage for War, by Paul Craig Roberts, former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy and associate editor of the Wall Street Journal would seem to sum up the situation in the Ukraine.
No matter what excuse is given for the pretext of initiating war, the Bible nailed the reason that is really in the hearts of those who perpetrate the action that causes such misery and suffering in the lives of hundreds of millions of innocent people around the world.

Crimea votes to join Russia, accelerating Ukraine crisis

SIMFEROPOL, Ukraine (Reuters) - Crimea's parliament voted to join Russia on Thursday and its Moscow-backed government set a referendum on the decision in 10 days' time in a dramatic escalation of the crisis over the Ukrainian Black Sea peninsula.
The sudden acceleration of moves to bring Crimea, which has an ethnic Russian majority and has effectively been seized by Russian forces, formally under Moscow's rule came as European Union leaders held an emergency summit groping for ways to pressure Russia to back down and accept mediation.
U.S. President Barack Obama took the first steps to punish Russians and Ukrainians involved in what he called "threatening the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine", ordering the freezing of their U.S. assets and a ban on travel to the United States.

Estonia has confirmed the authenticity of a leaked telephone call between its foreign minister and an EU chief which suggested the sniper killings in Ukraine last month were ordered by the new coalition.
The 11-minute call between the EU's foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton and her Estonian counterpart Urmas Paet was made on February 25 in the aftermath of the massacre.
During the call, Paet claims a doctor told him both protesters and police were shot by snipers during clashes in Kiev allegedly on the orders of the opposition.
But while the Baltic state acknowledged the audio was genuine, it denied that it had blamed opponents of Ukraine's deposed president for sniper killings during last month's unrest.

The recording, published on YouTube, was picked up by Russian state television and was the top item on state news agency RIA-Novosti.
Rossyia-24 state TV dubbed parts into Russian and suggested the EU now had proof that sniper shootings at police and protesters had been carried out by the same people.
At least 88 people were killed in gunbattles between police and anti-government protesters in late February in Ukraine's worst violence since Soviet times. Each side has blamed the other for using snipers.
In the leaked audio, Paet, speaking in imperfect English, says a doctor identified only as Olga had told him on a visit to Kiev that snipers may have come from the opposition.
'The same Olga told that, well, all the evidence shows that people who were killed by snipers from both sides among policemen and then people from the street,' Paet says.
Protesters were set on fire as they ran through burning barricades to avoid the sniper fire
'So that there is now stronger and stronger understanding that behind the snipers it was not Yanukovich, but it was somebody from the new coalition,' he said, referring to the former opposition to deposed President Viktor Yanukovich.
He added that Ukrainians do not trust the Maidan leaders as all the opposition politicians have a 'dirty past'.
In a statement, the Estonian government denied Paet viewed the opposition as being involved in the sniping.
'Foreign Minister Paet was giving an overview of what he had heard the previous day in Kiev and expressed concern over the situation on the ground,' it said.
'We reject the claim that Paet was giving an assessment of the opposition's involvement in the violence.
A spokeswoman for Ashton declined to comment on the leaked conversation.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has not reacted officially, but Itar-Tass news agency quoted a source at the ministry on Wednesday as saying that Moscow was 'surprised' that the EU was not commenting on the intercepted phone chat.
The leak could have major implications for the new leaders of Ukraine, who ousted Yanukovych last week following days of violent protests following the shootings.
94 people were killed and another 900 injured during the standoff between police and protesters at Independence Square in Kiev.
Outrage over the incident led to protesters taking to the streets in greater numbers and saw the United States impose visa bans on 20 Ukrainian government officials it considered 'responsible for ordering human rights abuses related to political oppression'.
The European Union also introduced a visa ban and a financial asset freeze against those it believed to responsible for the shootings, and a ban on exporting equipment that may be used for repression in Ukraine.
The agency said a spokesperson for Ms Ashton claimed to have 'no comment' on the alleged leak.
Russia Today said the clip was uploaded by officers of Security Service of Ukraine, who remain loyal to Yanukovich. They claimed the officers hacked Paet’s and Ashton’s phones to obtain the audio.

In some quarters public awareness is catching up with Stephen Lendman, Michel Chossudovsky, Rick Rozoff, myself and a few others in realizing the grave danger in the crisis that Washington has created in Ukraine.
The puppet politicians who Washington intended to put in charge of Ukraine have lost control to organized and armed neo-nazis, who are attacking Jews, Russians, and intimidating Ukrainian politicians. The government of Crimea, a Russian province that Khrushchev transferred to the Ukraine Soviet Republic in the 1950s, has disavowed the illegitimate government that illegally seized power in Kiev and requested Russian protection. The Ukrainian military forces in Crimea have gone over to Russia. The Russian government has announced that it will also protect the former Russian provinces in eastern Ukraine as well.
As Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn pointed out, it was folly for the Communist Party of the Soviet Union to transfer historic provinces of Russia into Ukraine. At the time it seemed to the Soviet leadership like a good thing to do. Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union and had been ruled by Russia since the 18th century. Adding Russian territory to Ukraine served to water down the nazi elements in western Ukraine that had fought for Hitler during World War 2. Perhaps another factor in the enlargement of Ukraine was the fact of Khrushchev’s Ukrainian heritage.
Regardless, it did not matter until the Soviet Union and then the former Russian empire itself fell apart. Under Washington’s pressure, Ukraine became a separate country retaining the Russian provinces, but Russia retained its Black Sea naval base in Crimea.
Washington tried, but failed, to take Ukraine in 2004 with the Washington-financed “Orange Revolution.” According to Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, since this failure Washington has “invested” $5 billion in Ukraine in order to foment agitation for EU membership for Ukraine. EU membership would open Ukraine to looting by Western bankers and corporations, but Washington’s main goal is to establish US missile bases on Russia’s border with Ukraine and to deprive Russia of its Black Sea naval base and military industries in eastern Ukraine. EU membership for Ukraine means NATO membership.
Washington wants missile bases in Ukraine in order to degrade Russia’s nuclear deterrent, thus reducing Russia’s ability to resist US hegemony. Only three countries stand in the way of Washington’s hegemony over the world, Russia, China, and Iran.
Iran is surrounded by US military bases and has US fleets off its coast. The “Pivot to Asia” announced by the warmonger Obama regime is ringing China with air and naval bases. Washington is surrounding Russia with US missile and NATO bases. The corrupt Polish and Czech governments were paid to accept US missile and radar bases, which makes the Polish and Czech puppet states prime targets for nuclear annihilation. Washington has purchased the former Russian and Soviet province of Georgia, birthplace of Joseph Stalin, and is in the process of putting this puppet into NATO.
Washington’s Western European puppets are too greedy for Washington’s money to take cognizance of the fact that these highly provocative moves are a direct strategic threat to Russia. The attitude of European governments seems to be, “after me, the deluge.”
Russia has been slow to react to the many years of Washington’s provocations, hoping for some sign of good sense and good will to emerge in the West. Instead, Russia has experienced rising demonization from Washington and European capitals and foaming at the mouth vicious denunciations by the West’s media whores. The bulk of the American and European populations are being brainwashed to see the problem that Washington’s meddling has caused in Ukraine to be Russia’s fault. Yesterday, I heard on National Public Radio a presstitute from the New Republic describe Putin as the problem.
The ignorance, absence of integrity, and lack of independence of the US media greatly enhances the prospect for war. The picture being drawn for insouciant Americans is totally false. An informed people would have burst out laughing when US Secretary of State John Kerry denounced Russia for “invading Ukraine” in “violation of international law.” Kerry is the foreign minister of a country that has illegally invaded Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, organized the overthrow of the government in Libya, tried to overthrow the government in Syria, attacks the civilian populations of Pakistan and Yemen with drones and missiles, constantly threatens Iran with attack, unleashed the US and Israeli trained Georgian army on the Russian population of South Ossetia, and now threatens Russia with sanctions for standing up for Russians and Russian strategic interests. The Russian government noted that Kerry has raised hypocrisy to a new level.
Kerry has no answer to the question: “Since when does the United States government genuinely subscribe and defend the concept of sovereignty and territorial integrity?”
Kerry, as is always the case, is lying through his teeth. Russia hasn’t invaded Ukraine. Russia sent a few more troops to join those at its Black Sea base in view of the violent anti-Russian statements and actions emanating from Kiev. As the Ukrainian military in Crimea defected to Russia, the additional Russian troops were hardly necessary.
The stupid Kerry, wallowing in his arrogance, hubris, and evil, has issued direct threats to Russia. The Russian foreign minister has dismissed Kerry’s threats as “unacceptable.” The stage is set for war.
Note the absurdity of the situation. Kiev has been taken over by ultra-nationalist neo-nazis. A band of ultra-nationalist thugs is the last thing the European Union wants or needs as a member state. The EU is centralizing power and suppressing the sovereignty of the member states. Note the alignment of the neoconservative Obama regime with anti-semitic neo-nazis. The neoconservative clique that has dominated the US government since the Clinton regime is heavily Jewish, many of whom are dual Israeli/US citizens. The Jewish neoconservatives, Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland and National Security Adviser Susan Rice, have lost control of their coup to neo-Nazis who preach “death to the Jews.”
The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported on February 24 that Ukrainian Rabbi Moshe Reuven Azman advised “Kiev’s Jews to leave the city and even the country.” Edward Dolinsky, head of an umbrella organization of Ukrainian Jews, described the situation for Ukrainian Jews as “dire” and requested Israel’s help.
This is the situation that Washington created and defends, while accusing Russia of stifling Ukrainian democracy. An elected democracy is what Ukraine had before Washington overthrew it.
At this time there is no legitimate Ukrainian government.
Everyone needs to understand that Washington is lying about Ukraine just as Washington lied about Saddam Hussein and weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, just as Washington lied about Iranian nukes, just as Washington lied about Syrian president Assad using chemical weapons, just as Washington lied about Afghanistan, Libya, NSA spying, torture. What hasn’t Washington lied about?
Washington is comprised of three elements: Arrogance, Hubris, and Evil. There is nothing else there.

Why Is The Mainstream Media Ignoring The Rabid Anti-Semitism In The New Ukraine Government?

In World War II, the United States fought against rabidly anti-Semitic fascists. In 2014, the United States helps them overthrow democratically-elected governments. And the sick thing is that the mainstream media is acting an an accomplice because it is purposely ignoring or greatly playing down the rabid anti-Semitism in Ukraine.
The anti-Semitism of many of the “reformers” that have seized power in Kiev does not fit with the narrative that the U.S. government is trying to push, so the mainstream media conveniently turns a blind eye to the fact that the United States is essentially helping neo-Nazis take power. In fact, leaders of the Svoboda Party have been appointed to numerous important positions throughout the new government. As you will read about below, the head of the Svoboda Party has denounced the “criminal activities” of “organized Jewry”, another top Svoboda official regularly quotes Joseph Goebbels, and the Party itself was known as “the Social-National Party” (in reference to National Socialists) until 2004. There is a long history of anti-Semitism in Ukraine, but our politicians in Washington D.C. don’t seem to care about that. All they seem to care about is making sure that there is not a pro-Russian government in Ukraine no matter what the cost.
There is a reason why Russian President Vladimir Putin cited “ultranationalists” as one of the reasons why Russian troops had to intervene in Ukraine. What we are seeing in Ukraine right now is eerily reminiscent of what we saw in Nazi Germany before World War II. The following comes from a recent Gawker article…
Earlier this week, a synagogue in the country’s southeast was firebombed. There have been multiple reported beatings of Jews and acts of vandalism at Kiev synagogues. A leading rabbi in Kiev has called for Jews to leave the city and the country, if possible—though he later said he was stressing that it’s dangerous for everyone out there—and the Israeli embassy has reportedly advised members of the Jewish community to stay off the streets.
Some people are dismissing these as “isolated incidents”. Well, then how do you explain the white power flags and other neo-Nazi symbols that have been going up all around Kiev? In the video posted below, you can see a white power flag that has been erected in a city government building in Kiev…
The truth is that it is not a good time to be a Jewish person living in Ukraine. Just like in so many other nations around the planet, anti-Semitism is on the rise. The following is from an article about the rising anti-Semitism in Ukraine that comes from a news source in Israel…
“We are aware of a terrible situation unfolding there,” Frenkel noted. She receives updates on the crisis from a friend of her son’s; the contact has described attacks and accusations being leveled at Jews on a regular basis. Among other things, Frankel has been notified that a grenade has been lobbed into a synagogue, a hareidi man assaulted on his way home from synagogue on Shabbat, and anti-Semitic graffiti has cropped up in several places.
Earlier I mentioned the Svoboda Party. It is one of the primary political parties that make up the new governing coalition in Ukraine. Unfortunately, this party has historical roots in Nazism and nobody disputes this.
According to Slate Magazine, the Svoboda Party was even called “the Social-National Party” until 2004…
The party traces its roots to a Nazi-allied partisan army during World War II and was known as the Social-National Party—in reference to National Socialism—until 2004.
And the current leader of the Svoboda Party, Oleh Tyahnybok, is quite a piece of work. The following is what Stephen Lendman had to say about him…
“Washington openly backs fascist Svoboda party leader Oleh Tyahnybok…In 2004, Tyahnybok was expelled from former President Viktor Yushchenko’s parliamentary faction. He was condemned for urging Ukrainians to fight against a “Muscovite-Jewish mafia.”
In 2005, he denounced “criminal activities” of “organized Jewry.” He outrageously claimed they plan “genocide” against Ukrainians.”…
Tyahnybok extremism didn’t deter Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland. On February 6, she met openly with him and other anti-government leaders.
In early January, 15,000 ultranationalists held a torchlight march through Kiev. They did so to honor Nazi-era collaborator/mass murderer Stepan Bandera. Some wore uniforms a Wehrmacht Ukrainian division used in WW II. Others chanted “Ukraine above all” and “Bandera, come and bring order.”
Isn’t that lovely?
And another top Svoboda Party official loves to quote Joseph Goebbels and other top Nazis from the World War II era…
Another top Svoboda member, Yuriy Mykhalchyshyn, a deputy in parliament, often quotes Nazi Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels, as well as other Third Reich luminaries like Ernst Rohm and Gregor Strasser.
You would think that the U.S. government would want nothing to do with such people.
But instead, the U.S. government has actively aided their rise to power, and now members of the Svoboda Party have been appointed to very important positions throughout the new government in Ukraine…
As the fires die down from the turmoil in Kiev, a political party that has been accused of promoting anti-Semitism and xenophobia is set to reap the benefits of the new government arrangement.
The Svoboda Party will take control of not one, but three ministries in the interim government.
These posts include the deputy prime minister and the heads of the agriculture and environmental ministries. In addition to these positions, a Svoboda lawmaker was appointed the new prosecutor general in the interim government.

If I was a Jewish person living in Ukraine, I would be trying to get out as fast as I could.
Fortunately, there are some people that are seeking to help them. In fact, they will soon receive a million dollars from one organization to help with security…
Ukrainian Jews are slated to receive $1 million to increase security against possible upticks in anti-Semitic behavior in the wake of the country’s massive political upheaval.
The money is coming from the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, the Jewish Week reported, and is going toward protection for places where Jews gather, as well as for the elderly and poverty-stricken.
“From the many conversations I’ve conducted this week with Jewish leaders in the Ukraine, we understood that the situation on the ground is critical,” organization founder and president Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein said. “Rabbis and communal leaders feel under threat.”
Hopefully as word gets out about the extreme anti-Semitism of some of these Ukrainian politicians, our politicians in Washington D.C. will start to change their tune.
But we have seen this kind of thing before. The Obama administration helped al-Qaeda take power in Libya, it is helping al-Qaeda try to overthrow the Syrian government, and now it is helping neo-Nazis rise to power in Ukraine.
It is almost as if a case of collective insanity has gripped the people running things in Washington.
I truly fear for what is ahead.

Obama’s Strategy Of Fomenting Revolution In Ukraine Is Backfiring Dramatically

When the Obama administration was plotting to overthrow the democratically-elected government of Ukraine, what in the world did they expect to happen in the aftermath? Did they just expect Russia to roll over and play dead as the U.S. and the EU installed a rabidly anti-Russian government in Kiev?
Over the past few years, the U.S. government has chosen to foment violent political revolutions all over the globe. We have seen violent revolutions overthrow governments all across the Middle East and Africa, but when the U.S. government decided to do the same thing in Ukraine they went way too far. When you mess with Ukraine, and when you mess with Crimea in particular, you are crossing a huge red line as far as the Russians are concerned. By crossing that red line, the Obama administration has ensured that the relationship between the United States and Russia will never be friendly again.
If you have not listened to the conversation between Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland and Ambassador to the Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt that was leaked a little over a month ago on YouTube, please click on the video posted below. As Robert Wenzel recently discussed, this video is solid proof that Obama administration officials were plotting who the new leaders of Ukraine would be several weeks before a violent revolution ousted President Viktor Yanukovych from power…
During the clip, Nuland and Pyatt discuss their desired outcome for the crisis in Ukraine. Now that 3 weeks have passed since the leak and events have developed, it is instructive to listen to the recording once again. (See below.) Keep in mind that this leak was made on February 2, which means the conversation occurred before that date. Viktor Yanukovych did not lose power over the Ukrainian government until more than three weeks later February 24th.
The recording reveals Nuland and Pyatt discussing whether Vitali Klitschko, sometimes referred to as “Klitsch” in the recording, should be named the deputy prime minister and seems to assume that Arseniy Yatseniuk, sometimes referred to in the recording as “Yats,” will become prime minister. Since that conversation, Yatseniuk has, indeed, become prime minister. Anybody that tells you that the US is not running the “revolution” from behind the scenes is blowing smoke.

Thanks to the meddling of the United States and the EU, the situation in Ukraine is now a giant mess. Russian troops have moved into Crimea to protect Russian interests, and Ukraine stands on the brink of civil war.
Sadly, when Barack Obama’s national security team met on Saturday to discuss the crisis in Ukraine, Obama didn’t even show up.
Obama did speak with Vladimir Putin for 90 minutes on Saturday, but that didn’t solve anything of course.
And with each passing day, Obama’s foreign policy is looking like an even bigger joke.
Even U.S. Senators are mocking him. Just check out what U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham had to say on the matter…
“Every time the president goes on national television and threatens Putin or anyone like Putin, everybody’s eyes roll, including mine.”
Conservative commentator Mark Levin was even harsher when he stated that he “can’t think of anything he [Obama] touches that doesn’t turn to crap!”
But of course Obama has been completely and totally clueless when it comes to Russia for a very long time.
During one of the presidential debates during the last election, Obama made the following statement to Mitt Romney when Romney suggested that Russia is a serious threat…
“The 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back because…the cold war’s been over for 20 years.”
Who looks like the fool now?
And Obama especially looks foolish since his “democratic revolution” is starting to backfire dramatically. Just consider the following facts…
-It is estimated that approximately 675,000 Ukrainians have fled into Russia during January and February. Why would they be going into Russia for protection if Russia is the “bad guy”?
-The head of Ukraine’s navy has defected and is now working with the Russians.
-The flagship of the Ukrainian Navy has switched sides…
Ukraine’s Navy flagship, the Hetman Sahaidachny frigate, has reportedly refused to follow orders from Kiev, and come over to Russia’s side and is returning home after taking part in NATO operation in the Gulf of Aden flying the Russian naval flag.
There has been conflicting information on where exactly the vessel is, but a Russian senator has confirmed to Izvestia daily that the frigate defected to the Russian side.
-A large number of high ranking Ukrainian military officials have switched sides…
A number of high ranking Ukrainian military and security officials in Crimea have sworn their allegiance to the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, as Simferopol pushes for its autonomy from the self-imposed government in Kiev.
The head of the Security Service of Crimea Petyor Zima, Chief of Department of Internal Affairs in the Crimea Sergey Abisov, the head of Service for Emergency Situations Sergei Shakhov and acting Chief of the Border Guards of Crimea Victor Melnichenko all took an oath of allegiance to the people of Crimea.
-It is being reported that many of the Ukrainian troops stationed in Crimea have turned on the government in Kiev…
Crimea-stationed Ukrainian troops have switched sides to join forces with local pro-Russia authorities in the Russian-dominated autonomous republic of Crimea, a source in the region’s administration has said.
The source has stressed the transition was peaceful and without a single shot being fired.
Some of the servicemen reportedly left their posts without prior warning, while others surrendered letters of resignation but the majority went over to the Crimean government.
-The pro-Russian revolution that is sweeping Crimea is starting to spread to other regions as well…
In the economically important eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk, hundreds of pro-Russian protesters massed Saturday in the main square and took over a main government administration building, and raised the Russian flag, according to local residents and news outlets. It was unclear whether the protesters were local residents. The number of protesters was also unclear; Russian and Ukrainian media had wildly different estimates of crowd strength.
The Donetsk city council issued a statement demanding a referendum over whether the mining region with strong ties to Russia should remain part of Ukraine.
By nightfall, the area around the Donetsk main square was quiet. A reporter from Ukrainian national television said that the protesters remained inside the building, drinking tea and planning new pro-Russia protests for Monday.
And this is probably what Russia is planning to do.
Instead of taking Ukraine militarily, they hope to enable a “new revolution” to swing things back their way. The following is an excerpt from an NBC News article…
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Sunday that Ukraine’s leaders had seized power illegally, and predicted their rule would end with “a new revolution [and] new bloodshed.”
Medvedev said that, while Viktor Yanukovych had practically no authority, he remained the legitimate head of state according the constitution, adding: “If he is guilty before Ukraine – hold an impeachment procedure … and try him.”
“Everything else is lawlessness. The seizure of power,” Medvedev said on his Facebook page. “And that means such order will be extremely unstable. It will end in a new revolution. New bloodshed.”
Of course large numbers of Russian troops will be on hand to make sure that this “counter-revolution” succeeds. Even as you read this, more Russian forces continue to pour into Crimea…
Meanwhile, in Crimea, Ukrainian Defense Ministry spokesman Vladislav Seleznyov told CNN on Monday that up to 12 trucks full of Russian troops have crossed into the eastern Crimean city of Kerch from Russia.
Additionally, Ukrainian Border Service Assistant Chief Colonel Sergei Astakhov described Russian troop movements by ferry from Russia across the Strait of Kerch in a phone conversation. Astakhov said the first two ferries carrying armed men were navigating towards the ferry dock and border post in Kerch. As the ferries approached the port, 10 heavily armed troops from the Russian Black Sea Fleet attacked the border post from land and used force to overwhelm the Ukrainian border guards, Astakhov said.
The upper house of Parliament in Moscow has given President Vladimir Putin the authority to use “the armed forces of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine until the normalization of the socio-political situation in that country“, and even U.S. officials are admitting that the Russian military has “complete operational control of the Crimean Peninsula” at this point.
And this may just be the beginning. Reportedly, during his 90 minute conversation with Obama on Saturday Putin hinted that Russian military intervention “could go beyond Crimea”…

That’s according to the Kremlin’s brief account of the phone call, initiated by Obama.
“Vladimir Putin stressed that in case of any further spread of violence to Eastern Ukraine and Crimea, Russia retains the right to protect its interests and the Russian-speaking population of those areas,” it said.
So what is going to happen next?
Nobody knows for sure.
But without a doubt, Obama’s strategy of fomenting revolution in Ukraine is backfiring dramatically.

Debate Over Temple Mount Heats Up While Rebuilding Preparations Continue

While the Israeli Knesset debated the future sovereignty of Jerusalem’s temple mount, protesters were rioting on the Holy Site. Rioters were arrested during the latest series of uprisings this month. Arab demonstrators object to any Jewish presence on the holy site.
An impassioned MK Fieglin declared, “Without the temple Mount, we have no home, not in Tel Aviv, not in Haifa, and not anywhere else. The time has come to stop the erosion of our sovereignty in the heart of Jerusalem.”
Fieglin continued by describing the destruction of archeological artifacts on the Mount, stating that behind the nations back, we gave up every remnant of Israeli sovereignty on the mount. Any terrorist organization can wave their fag, but the Israeli flag? Unmentionable.”
“When the Jews in exile prayed to return to Zion, I think they prayed to return… to the Temple Mount. If we allow the situation to continue, we will fail in our mission to Jewish continuity.” Added coalition chairman Yariv Levin.
Left leaning MK’s see the Temple Mount controversy as a “powder keg waiting to explode” said Meretz leader Zehava Gal-On. Gal-on also stated that “No one doubts that the Jews have a right to ascend the temple Mount” but questioned the wisdom of exercising this right.
PM Benyamin Netanyahu was quoted as saying in 1995, “Jews should be able to pray on the temple Mount.” He was absent from the current debate.
MK Moalem-Refeali spoke of the hypocrisy of some on the left who’ believe in freedom of worship, but only for Arabs.
As expected, the Knesset debate sparked angry reactions in Jordan and elsewhere in the region.
Some Jordanian legislators called for a cancellation of Jordan’s peace treaty with Israel and a return of the Jordanian envoy to Amman.
The Temple Mount, captured by the IDF during the Six Day War, was placed under custodianship of the Wakf Muslim religious trust in 1967, following the war.
As for a possible shared Temple Mount solution, in a Haaretz report as late as February 16, 2014 Palestinian President Abbas stated that the” PA would not agree to share sovereignty over the Al-Aqsa Mosque (the temple mount) in Jerusalem as part of a peace deal but would allow freedom of worship for the Jews at the Western Wall Plaza.”
2500 years ago, the Hebrew prophet Daniel, under divine inspiration, while living in exile in Babylon, saw the future of the Temple Mount and recorded its destiny for us. Daniel foresaw a rebuilt temple in the time of the man of lawlessness, prior to the return of Jesus to Jerusalem. (Daniel 9)
Daniel further explains s the importance of the Temple in the 70 weeks prophecy in Chapter 9 vs. 27. According to Daniel, in the middle of the 70th week, sacrifices will be cut off and an event described as the abomination of desolation will occur in the Temple.
Jesus Christ also referred to Daniels prophecy in His Olivet discourse, when he identified the “abomination of desolation” as a significant event of the Tribulation period.
The Apostle Paul additionally, speaks about the rebuilt temple and the man of sin who would exalt himself as God in the third temple. (2 Thessalonians 2: 3, 4)
In fulfillment of prophecy, plans for rebuilding continue.
On November 28, 2013, the Israel National News reported that "a Cohen – pries training program" is currently training priest to officiate in the coming Temple with at least 40 men with the correct lineage being trained in this program. According to Rabbi Yisrael Ariel, the Director of the Temple Institute, ”Traditional priestly garments have been made in various sizes to accommodate the trained priests.”
Rabbi Ariel concluded by saying "All of this is in the hope that we will soon, please GOD, erect the third temple with our own hands, and be able to perform these priestly duties in the Temple courtyard".
According to the Christian Post, “rabbis have been visiting the temple mount in unprecedented numbers”. It is also reported that the temple items required for sacrifice and worship, and the hand hewn cornerstone have been prepared and are in fact, ready to be used.
Of interest also, is the shift in the Israeli government toward a more right leaning, religious, and conservative base. This also, bodes well for the rebuilding. A recent survey revealed that 64 % of the population favors rebuilding the temple.
Many wonder if the current peace negotiations will open the door for further progress towards the the rebuilding of the Temple.

'End to negotiations?' Netanyahu's speech sparks furious reaction from Palestinians

Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday implored Palestinian leader, Mahmud Abbas, to recognize Israel as a Jewish state and to "abandon the fantasy" of refugees returning to Israel, fueling anger from the Palestinians.
Netanyahu, speaking at a meeting of the influential American Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in Washington on Tuesday, appealed directly to the Palestinian leader with Israel’s demands before a peace agreement can be reached.
"It's time the Palestinians stop denying history. Just as Israel is prepared to recognize a Palestinian state, the Palestinians must be prepared to recognize a Jewish state," he said.
The Israeli leader then hit upon two controversial issues in a single sentence.
"President Abbas: recognize the Jewish state and in doing so, you would be telling your people to abandon the fantasy of flooding Israel with refugees," he said.
His words sparked an immediate backlash from Ramallah.
Senior Palestinian official, Nabil Shaath, told AFP that Netanyahu's demand was tantamount to "an official announcement of a unilateral end to negotiations."
"This is like telling the Palestinians they did not exist all these hundreds and thousands of years, that this historically has been a Jewish land," Hanan Ashrawi, a senior member of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), was quoted by Reuters as saying.
"Palestine historically has been diverse. There have been many tribes here. Our history is not going to be something we can deny," she said at a recent news conference.
Abbas says the PLO already made a major concession in 1993 when it acknowledged Israel's right to exist and agreed that their future state should be built on land seized by Israel in the 1967 Six-Day War.
The UN puts the number of Palestinian refugees and their descendants at 4.98 million - over half Israel's present population of some 8.1 million people.
In a speech last month, Abbas said: "We do not seek either to flood Israel with millions (of refugees) or to change its social composition."
At the same time, however, Palestinian officials say they cannot agree to the demands that millions of refugees and their families be barred from returning to Israel.
But that seems to be exactly what is preventing the Israelis and Palestinians from reaching a mutual understanding that could finally lead to a two-state solution: neither side is able to ignore the disputed history of the land.
For the Palestinians, the controversy dates back to 1948 when Israel was given state status by the United Nations. Although a huge victory for the Jewish people, it led to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their homes. Netanyahu has said Israel flatly refuses to allow these displaced Palestinians from returning to the place of their birth.
The Palestinians have based their acceptance of an Israeli state on the "right to return," as well as having East Jerusalem be declared the capital of the new Palestinian state.
However, this is just one of the many thorny issues that US Secretary of State John Kerry is attempting to resolve between the two sides in a diplomatic rush to extend direct peace talks beyond an April-29 deadline.
Before Netanyahu’s arrival in Washington, Obama warned that the United States may not be able to protect Israel if a two-state solution with the Palestinians fails.
If Netanyahu “does not believe that a peace deal with the Palestinians is the right thing to do for Israel, then he needs to articulate an alternative approach,” Obama told Bloomberg in an interview. “There comes a point where you can’t manage this anymore, and then you start having to make very difficult choices.”
Another seemingly impassible chasm to cross is Netanyahu’s demand to maintain troops along the Jordan Valley, which borders the eastern side of the West Bank, saying he would not cede security to foreign peacekeepers.
"Experience has shown that foreign peace-keeping forces, keep the peace only when there is peace, but when subjected to repeated attacks, those forces eventually go home... The only force that can be relied on to defend the peace… (is) the Israeli army," he said.
Netanyahu also slammed the Palestinian-led movement to boycott, divest from and sanction (BDS) Israel over its ongoing settlement development in the occupied territories.
"The BDS movement is not about legitimate criticism, it's about making Israel illegitimate," he said. "That movement will fail."
But BDS spokeswoman, Rafeef Ziadah, called the Israeli leader’s comments a "desperate attack," saying that governments were starting "to take action to hold Israel accountable for its violations of international law."
However, some of Netanyahu’s comments were more upbeat, alluding to the economic opportunities that a successful peace agreement would create.
"Peace with the Palestinians would turn our relations with them and with many Arab countries into open and thriving relationships," he said in positive remarks more commonly heard from reputed moderates like Israeli President Shimon Peres.
"The combination of Israeli innovation and entrepreneurship could catapult the entire region forward. I believe together we could solve the region's water and energy problems."
Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas is scheduled to meet with President Obama at the White House on March 17 to continue the negotiation process.

Israel’s Knesset on Monday signed into law a bill that legally distinguishes between local Christians and the bulk of the Arabic-speaking population, which is primarily Muslim.
The stated goal of the law is to boost Christian employment rights by recognizing them as an independent minority, and thereby granting them separate representation on local councils and employment committees.
Israeli Arab (mostly Muslim) members of Knesset blasted the new law, insisting it would undermine Arab identity in the Holy Land.
But beyond the increased employment rights, that is precisely the point for many Arabic-speaking Christians in Israel.
“This is a historic event for us,” Shadi Haloul, spokesman for the Christian IDF Forum and chairman of the Aramaic Christian Association in Israel, told Israel Today.
“We as Christian with Aramaic roots deserve the right of self identity and national identity with our own representatives in all Israeli institutions,” he added.
Haloul and many others like him have long been pointing out the dire situation in which most Christians across the Middle East now find themselves, concluding, “Thank God we live in Israel. Christians here are protected, and now they are recognized without being lumped together with any Arab party.”
But this new law isn’t the end of the effort for Haloul.
“We are part of Israeli society, and will defend it and continue our path for coexistence with the Jews in this blessed country,” he vowed. “All of us at the Christian IDF Forum, including our spiritual leader Father Gabriel Nadaf (pictured), are part of this success, and we look forward to more laws fulfilling our Christian needs in Israel.”

Nine new Qumran scrolls discovered

They were hidden inside some phylacteries discovered during some excavations sixty years ago but never opened. The news was announced at a conference at the Faculty of Theology in Lugano The Qumran grottoes on the Dead Sea [Credit: Vatican Insider]
They lay inside the desert grottoes for centuries and remained hidden for another sixty years inside what were catalogued as tefillin, the phylacteries worn by observant Jews during prayer. This is the background to the sensational discovery of nine new Qumran scrolls. The Dead Sea area of the Qumran is the site where hundreds of fragments of texts from the Torah and Jewish literary pieces dating back to two thousand years ago were discovered in the mid Twentieth century. The scrolls remained in tact thanks to the microclimate of a complex of desert grottoes and have become a key reference point in biblical science studies. These grottoes were inhabited by a community about which many theories have emerged.
So there are now nine Qumran scrolls to keep experts busy. The discovery was made very recently and was announced a few days ago at the international research seminar “The history fo the Qumran grottoes” organised by the Faculty of Theology in Lugano and coordinated by Professor Marcello Fidanzio. The news was announced by the archaeologist Yonatan Adler of Israel’s Ariel University which found the scrolls inside the tefillin that were being kept at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, in the Qumran artifact section. The material comes from grottoes 4 and 5, where most of the manuscripts were found during the 1952 excavations led by Dominican French archaeologist Roland de Vaux. The three tefillin in question were examined by the Israel Antiquities Authority using a special photography technique which showed that there were three scrolls inside each phylactery. The material is extremely fragile so much care will need to be taken when removing them from the recipients and the process will take some time.
There will undoubtedly be those who will snatch at the opportunity to stress the arguments contained in the literature on this subject, which claim that the Qumran holds the key to certain mysteries that will rewrite the history of early Christianity. But any such surprises are unlikely, at least as far as the tefillin are concerned. These should contain traditional Torah texts, probably some verses from Deuteronomy. But from a biblical archaeological point of view, this is precisely why said material is so valuable.
“The new discovery shows that the research being carried out on the Qumran is not complete yet. There are a thousand reasons, especially political ones, why the material unearthed is still being studied and why the the findings have not yet been published. What is causing the greatest suspense now is the wait to find out the precise contents of the new scrolls. But another important aspect is the fact that great progress has been made in the more than sixty years since the excavations were carried out in the grottoes, thanks to technologies used. This may help us gain a better understanding through these new scrolls.”

Canadian researcher John Smith, a research scientist at Canada’s Bedford Institute of Oceanography in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, has now found Samples of cesium-134 and cesium-137 from Fukushima, Japan in the waters off Vancouver, BC., as the radioactive plume from Fukushima, Japan has just begun to arrive off our city of Vancouver, BC. and are expected to peak by 2016.
The dangers to human health of cesium-134 and cesium-137 however low are cumulative in the human body.

South Central US Poisoned by New Mexico Nuke Garbage Dump
Enough to Kill 35,500 People Released so Far

(San Francisco) – Feb 28, 2014 – Carlsbad, New Mexico is the site of the nation’s only nuclear weapons program garbage dump. Plutonium is used in making The Bomb, it melts at 640 Deg C or 1,184 Deg F, and is made in reactors. It is not mined anywhere on Earth. Reactors exist to make Bombs.
The Carlsbad Bomb making garbage dump is on fire. The burning radioactive metal does not go away, it turns to dense black radioactive smoke. The black smoke is very obvious in the daytime and it streamed from several ventilator shafts during a fire at the dump two weeks ago.
The shafts were then closed and the visible smoke kept underground. Plutonium does not need oxygen to burn and escaped anyway. The HEPA filters are not good enough to contain the very small Plutonium particles; that’s because nothing is. The fire very well could still be burning Plutonium and Uranium in the salt mine.
The special Bomb making isotopes catch fire easily and burn at unearthly high temperatures – nothing can contain a fire in the underground garbage dump. Since Uranium and Plutonium burn at higher temperatures than rock salt, there is a remote possibility the underground dump itself is on fire.
This is all about the contaminated garbage left over from making nuclear and thermonuclear bombs. That is the source of the poisonous garbage buried 2200 ft, or 670.56 meters, beneath the southeastern New Mexico desert.

The nation manufactures and maintains more than 60,000 nuclear and thermonuclear weapons. Bomb production has not necessarily stopped. All the contaminated garbage, trucks, tools, junk, wipes and clothes, etc from 70 years plus of nuclear weapons production is stuffed down a hole in New Mexico.
13 People Poisoned So Far
As of Feb 28, 2014 the mine operator, a private corporation, had announced that 13 employees were radiologically contaminated inside their bodies. The poison will probably kill them all. Dog studies done with living animals show us how they will die. From the few reports that surfaced in the past two weeks enough plutonium was released to kill 35,500 people.
The Department of Energy (DOE) has legal title to all the nation’s thermonuclear weapons and is one point of possible responsibility. The DOE announced six areas of potential contamination spreading outward from the garbage dump.
All adults in the First Contamination Zone, up to 100 miles or 160km, from the Carlsbad dump are eligible for free whole body scans. This is of little value in Plutonium Contamination since it is a different form of radioactive energy. The expensive scans take about an hour and, of course, will find nothing. That’s a typical Scam of the DOE.
It’s amazing. A normal human couldn’t make this up if they tried. That’s life in the DOE and the nation’s nuclear weapons program. It is just bizarre.

Bone tumors found in 93 dogs were the most common cause of death. Lung tumors found in 46 dogs were the second most common cause of death. Liver tumors, which were found in 20 dogs but were the cause of death in only two dogs, occurred later than the tumors in bone and lung. Tumors in these three organs often occurred in the same animal and were competing causes of death. These findings in dogs suggest that similar dose-related biological effects could be expected in humans accidentally exposed to 238PuO2.

Massive Dinosaur Soft Tissue Discovery In China – Includes Skin And Feathers!

A fossil bed in China that is being called “Jurassic Park” has yielded perhaps the greatest dinosaur soft tissue discovery of all time. According to media reports, “nearly-complete skeletons” have been discovered that even include skin and feathers. But of course if these dinosaurs are really “160 million years old”, that should be absolutely impossible.
Needless to say, this shocking discovery is once again going to have paleontologists scrambling to find a way to prop up the popular myths that they have been promoting. What they have been telling us simply does not fit the facts. The truth is that this latest find is even more evidence that dinosaurs are far, far younger than we have traditionally been taught.
Once upon a time, scientists believed that it would be impossible to find anything other than the hardened fossilized remains of extinct dinosaurs. And if those dinosaurs really were millions of years old, those scientists would have been 100% correct. But instead, we are now starting to find dinosaur soft tissue all over the place. The following is an excerpt from a recent Daily Mail articleabout this new discovery in China…
Almost more impressive than the diversity of the biota is the preservation of many of the vertebrate specimens, according to the study published in the Journal of Vertebrate Palaeontology.
Fossils include complete or nearly-complete skeletons associated with preserved soft tissues such as feathers, fur, skin or even, in some of the salamanders, external gills.
One is the feathered dinosaur Epidexipteryx whose soft tissues have been revealed by the use of ultraviolet light scanners.
A fossil of the salamander Chunerpeton shows not only the preserved skeleton but also its skin and external gills.
Wow.
Hopefully scientists in the west will get a chance to closely examine these soft tissue samples.
Prior to 1991, you would have been laughed out of the room if you had suggested that we might dig up the soft tissue of dinosaurs someday.
But all of that changed when Mary Schweitzer, a molecular paleontologist at North Carolina State University, did something that was absolutely unthinkable. The following comes from an article in Smithsonian Magazine…
In 1991, Schweitzer was trying to study thin slices of bones from a 65-million-year-old T. rex. She was having a hard time getting the slices to stick to a glass slide, so she sought help from a molecular biologist at the university. The biologist, Gayle Callis, happened to take the slides to a veterinary conference, where she set up the ancient samples for others to look at. One of the vets went up to Callis and said, “Do you know you have red blood cells in that bone?” Sure enough, under a microscope, it appeared that the bone was filled with red disks. Later, Schweitzer recalls, “I looked at this and I looked at this and I thought, this can’t be. Red blood cells don’t preserve.”
Schweitzer showed the slide to Horner. “When she first found the red-blood-cell-looking structures, I said, Yep, that’s what they look like,” her mentor recalls. He thought it was possible they were red blood cells, but he gave her some advice: “Now see if you can find some evidence to show that that’s not what they are.”
What she found instead was evidence of heme in the bones—additional support for the idea that they were red blood cells. Heme is a part of hemoglobin, the protein that carries oxygen in the blood and gives red blood cells their color. “It got me real curious as to exceptional preservation,” she says.

Of course since that time, many others have also dug up dinosaur soft tissue. At this point, more than thirty specimens have been discovered and tested, and the specimens have come from an impressive array of various dinosaurs…
The dinosaurs and other Mesozoic creatures that have yielded their biological material are hadrosaur, titanosaur, ornithomimosaur [ostrich-like dinosaurs], mosasaur, triceratops, Lufengosaurs, T. rex, and Archaeopteryx.
When Schweitzer originally made her discovery public, she was viciously attacked by other evolutionists who insisted that finding dinosaur soft tissue that was millions of years old was absolutely impossible.
And those evolutionists were right.
If the dinosaurs were really that old it would be impossible.
But now sample after sample and test after test have proven without a shadow of a doubt that we really are digging up dinosaur soft tissue.
Schweitzer and other paleontologists that are desperate to prop up their existing theories are now suggesting that “iron in the blood” could have preserved the soft tissue that we are finding for all of these millions of years.
If you believe that laughable theory, I have a bridge to sell you.
But there are a lot of people out there that are so desperate to keep believing their flawed version of “the truth” that they are actually buying it.
And of course it is not just soft tissue that scientists have to account for…
It is not just dinosaur soft tissue, either, but the presence of detectable proteins such as collagen, hemoglobin, osteocalcin, actin, and tubulin that they must account for. These are complex molecules that continually tend to break down to simpler ones.
Not only that, but in many cases, there are fine details of the bone matrix, with microscopically intact-looking bone cells (osteocytes) showing incredible detail. And Schweitzer has even recovered fragments of the even more fragile and complex molecule, DNA. This has been extracted from the bone cells with markers indicating its source such that it is extremely likely to be dinosaur DNA.
In this case, I think that it would be very appropriate to apply Occam’s razor. The reason why we are finding dinosaur bones with soft tissue in them is because they simply are not very old.
And when we carbon date dinosaur bones, it tells us the exact same thing.
Due to the rate that it decays, there should be absolutely no measurable radioactive carbon left in anything that was once living that is greater than 100,000 years old.
So there should be absolutely no measurable radioactive carbon in dinosaur bones.
But instead, that is precisely what we find. Here is one example…
“In June of 1990, Hugh Miller submitted two dinosaur bone fragments to the Department of Geosciences at the University in Tucson, Arizona for carbon-14 analysis. One fragment was from an unidentified dinosaur. The other was from anAllosaurus excavated by James Hall near Grand Junction, Colorado in 1989. Miller submitted the samples without disclosing the identity of the bones. (Had the scientists known the samples actually were from dinosaurs, they would not have bothered dating them, since it is assumed dinosaurs lived millions of years ago—outside the limits of radiocarbon dating.) Interestingly, the C-14 analysis indicated that the bones were from 10,000-16,000 years old—a far cry from their alleged 60-million-year-old age.”
And the truth is that radioactive carbon is being found in dinosaur bones that have been excavated all over the planet…
Real Science Radio interviewed a scientist returning from the American Geophysical Union’s conference in Singapore where his international team presented results from five respected laboratories documenting significant quantities of Carbon 14 in bones from ten dinosaurs excavated from Alaska, Europe, Texas, Montana, and China’s Gobi Desert.
Additional evidence for the young age of dinosaurs comes from the fact that we find very accurate depictions of dinosaurs in ancient artwork all over the planet. This is something that I covered in my previous article entitled “Why Does Ancient Art Contain Depictions Of Flying Aircraft, Helicopters And Dinosaurs?”
Considering the fact that we only started digging up dinosaurs a couple hundred years ago, how did those ancient people know what they looked like?
That is something to think about.
I realize that this article is going to directly challenge things that a lot of people have believed all of their lives.
But we are never going to get anywhere if we just have blind faith in whatever the system tells us to believe.
It pays to question everything and to allow logic and reason to lead us to the truth.

Japanese Scientists Prove That Auras Actually Exist
A group of Japanese scientists from the University of Tokyo under the supervision of Mio Watanabe, conducted a series of experiments by which they managed to visually capture the aura of a person, thus proving its existence! With the assistance of highly sensitive cameras the scientists were able to photograph a person’s special glow. Notably, the glow appears brightest in the morning and seems to “fade” in the evening. It is most visible around the face, mouth, cheeks and neck. Experts believe that this technique could become a new tool for use in the diagnosis and treatment of many diseases. A faint glow around certain body parts may indicate the presence of a disease or disorder.
It is astounding that the existence of an aura remains in doubt if techniques for photographing it have existed for decades? The pioneers in this field, in fact, are the Kirlians, to this day any halos around photographed objects are referred to as the “Kirlian effect”. In their time the couple patented many inventions to photograph the glow and captured many images of it. Over time, they noticed that the images varied from person to person.
From the intensity of the glow, the Kirlians learned to determine the total activity of the body, the efficiency of different drugs and treatments, as well as the state of organs and systems. Today the GDV method is fairly well developed and can be used to conduct a general analysis of the whole body. The pictures are qualitatively and objectively interpreted reducing the risk of medical errors. The effectiveness of different treatments can be detected individually.
GDV is based on light emissions which appear in high voltage electromagnetic fields. If it were to become widely used in traditional diagnosis then, with its help, doctors could not only easily carry out common diagnosis at a given moment but also identify diseases which may occur in the future. This could greatly improve the quality of preventive care.
Needless to say, that in the traditional ancient oriental medicine the concept of the aura is well understood and commonly accepted. Eastern practices, both medical and spiritual, are initially directed at correcting the aura i.e. the spiritual body rather than the physical. Recovery on a physical level, therefore, is only a consequence of balancing the aura. These ancient texts also offer a very detailed analysis of the spiritual body – the energy centers, meridians, channels, etc.

Why do we value gold?

Mankind's attitude to gold is bizarre. Chemically, it is uninteresting - it barely reacts with any other element. Yet, of all the 118 elements in the periodic table, gold is the one we humans have always tended to choose to use as currency. Why?
Why not osmium or chromium, or helium, say - or maybe seaborgium?
I'm not the first to ask the question, but I like to think I'm asking it in one of the most compelling locations possible - the extraordinary exhibition of pre-Columbian gold artefacts at the British Museum?
That's where I meet Andrea Sella, a professor of chemistry at University College London, beside an exquisite breastplate of pure beaten gold.
He pulls out a copy of the periodic table.
"Some elements are pretty easy to dismiss," he tells me, gesturing to the right-hand side of the table.
"Here you've got the noble gases and the halogens. A gas is never going to be much good as a currency. It isn't really going to be practical to carry around little phials of gas is it?

"And then there's the fact that they are colourless. How on earth would you know what it is?"
The two liquid elements (at everyday temperature and pressure) - mercury and bromine - would be impractical too. Both are also poisonous - not a good quality in something you plan to use as money. Similarly, we can cross out arsenic and several others.
Sella now turns his attention to the left-hand side of the table.
"We can rule out most of the elements here as well," he says confidently.
"The alkaline metals and earths are just too reactive. Many people will remember from school dropping sodium or potassium into a dish of water. It fizzes around and goes pop - an explosive currency just isn't a good idea."
A similar argument applies to another whole class of elements, the radioactive ones: you don't want your cash to give you cancer.
Out go thorium, uranium and plutonium, along with a whole bestiary of synthetically-created elements - rutherfordium, seaborgium, ununpentium, einsteinium - which only ever exist momentarily as part of a lab experiment, before radioactively decomposing.
Then there's the group called "rare earths", most of which are actually less rare than gold.
Unfortunately, they are chemically hard to distinguish from each other, so you would never know what you had in your pocket.
This leaves us with the middle area of the periodic table, the "transition" and "post-transition" metals.
This group of 49 elements includes some familiar names - iron, aluminium, copper, lead, silver.
But examine them in detail and you realise almost all have serious drawbacks.
We've got some very tough and durable elements on the left-hand side - titanium and zirconium, for example.
The problem is they are very hard to smelt. You need to get your furnace up into the region of 1,000C before you can begin to extract these metals from their ores. That kind of specialist equipment wasn't available to ancient man.
Aluminium is also hard to extract, and it's just too flimsy for coinage. Most of the others in the group aren't stable - they corrode if exposed to water or oxidise in the air.
Take iron. In theory it looks quite a good prospect for currency. It is attractive and polishes up to a lovely sheen. The problem is rust: unless you keep it completely dry it is liable to corrode away.
"A self-debasing currency is clearly not a good idea," says Sella.
We can rule out lead and copper on the same basis. Both are liable to corrosion. Societies have made both into money but the currencies did not last, literally.
So, what's left?
Why is gold golden?
Gold's golden colour has been a mystery until very recently, says Andrea Sella.
The secret lies in its atomic structure. "Quantum mechanics alone doesn't explain it," he says.
"When you get to gold you find the atom is so heavy and the electrons move so fast that you now have to include Einstein's theory of relativity into the mathematics.
"It is only when you fold together quantum mechanics with relativity that suddenly you understand it."
Unlike other metals, which in their pure form reflect light straight back, electrons in the gold "slosh around a little," Sella says, with the result that gold "absorbs a bit of the blue spectrum light, giving the light that is reflected back its distinctive golden colour".
Of the 118 elements we are now down to just eight contenders: platinum, palladium, rhodium, iridium, osmium and ruthenium, along with the old familiars, gold and silver.
These are known as the noble metals, "noble" because they stand apart, barely reacting with the other elements.
They are also all pretty rare, another important criterion for a currency.
Even if iron didn't rust, it wouldn't make a good basis for money because there's just too much of it around. You would end up having to carry some very big coins about.
With all the noble metals except silver and gold, you have the opposite problem. They are so rare that you would have to cast some very tiny coins, which you might easily lose.
They are also very hard to extract. The melting point of platinum is 1,768C.
That leaves just two elements - silver and gold.
Both are scarce but not impossibly rare. Both also have a relatively low melting point, and are therefore easy to turn into coins, ingots or jewellery.
Silver tarnishes - it reacts with minute amounts of sulphur in the air. That's why we place particular value on gold.
It turns out then, that the reason gold is precious is precisely that it is so chemically uninteresting.
Gold's relative inertness means you can create an elaborate golden jaguar and be confident that 1,000 years later it can be found in a museum display case in central London, still in pristine condition.
So what does this process of elemental elimination tell us about what makes a good currency?
First off, it doesn't have to have any intrinsic value. A currency only has value because we, as a society, decide that it does.

As we've seen, it also needs to be stable, portable and non-toxic. And it needs to be fairly rare - you might be surprised just how little gold there is in the world.
If you were to collect together every earring, every gold sovereign, the tiny traces gold in every computer chip, every pre-Columbian statuette, every wedding ring and melt it down, it's guesstimated that you'd be left with just one 20-metre cube, or thereabouts.
But scarcity and stability aren't the whole story. Gold has one other quality that makes it the stand-out contender for currency in the periodic table. Gold is... golden.
All the other metals in the periodic table are silvery-coloured except for copper - and as we've already seen, copper corrodes, turning green when exposed to moist air. That makes gold very distinctive.
"That's the other secret of gold's success as a currency," says Sella. "Gold is unbelievably beautiful."
But how come no-one actually uses gold as a currency any more?
The seminal moment came in 1973, when Richard Nixon decided to sever the US dollar's tie to gold.
Since then, every major currency has been backed by no more than legal "fiat" - the law of the land says you must accept it as payment.
Nixon made his decision for the simple reason that the US was running out of the necessary gold to back all the dollars it had printed.
And here lies the problem with gold. Its supply bears no relation to the needs of the economy. The supply of gold depends on what can be mined.
In the 16th Century, the discovery of South America and its vast gold deposits led to an enormous fall in the value of gold - and therefore an enormous increase in the price of everything else.
Since then, the problem has typically been the opposite - the supply of gold has been too rigid. For example, many countries escaped the Great Depression in the 1930s by unhitching their currencies from the Gold Standard. Doing so freed them up to print more money and reflate their economies.
The demand for gold can vary wildly - and with a fixed supply, that can lead to equally wild swings in its price.
Most recently for example, the price has gone from $260 per troy ounce in 2001, to peak at $1,921.15 in September 2011, before falling back to $1,230 currently.
That is hardly the behaviour of a stable store of value.
So, to paraphrase Churchill, out of all the elements, gold makes the worst possible currency.
Apart from all the others.
(One thing to keep in mind is that gold does not go up and down in value, the fiat currencies of the world go up and down in value against gold. Although there has been an artificial attempt for the past ten years to suppress the value of gold, this is beginning to unravel as the world's financial crisis, especially in the US, becomes progressively worst leading to a world wide crash. When the world loses faith in the dollar, the euro, etc. gold will appear to greatly increase in value. What will really happen is the dollar, etc. will greatly decrease in value making it necessary to use many more dollars then previous to buy the same amount of gold.)
