And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
(Matthew 16:16)
Thou Art The Christ

Dear Friends,
In the New Testament we read the following scriptures:

“And it was revealed unto him (Simeon) by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.

“But, lo, he (Jesus) speaketh boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?”

The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou (Jesus) art the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Luke 2:26, John 7:26, John 4:25-6 Matthew 16:16

As we have said before the word “Christ” is not so much a name but more of a title, or possibly a job description.

How is that Simeon, some of them of Jerusalem, the woman at the well, and Simon all refer to Jesus as “Christ”?

Obviously “Christ” was expected as we can see from the above verses, but how did all these witnesses come to use the term “Christ”.

If you look in your Old Testament, or concordance, or do and online search it is unlikely you will find the term Christ in the Old Testament.

But is that really the case?

As we have pointed out in the past, modern Hebrew, Masoretic Hebrew, has virtually nothing in common with original Paleo Hebrew found in the Dead Sea Scrolls.

“The Masoretic Text is the authoritative Hebrew and Aramaic text of the 24 books of Tanakh for Rabbinic Judaism. It is not the original text (Urtext) of the Hebrew Bible: Urtext has never been found. It was primarily copied, edited and distributed by a group of Jews known as the Masoretes between the 7th and 10th centuries of the Common Era (CE).” Wikipedia

It has been said that Moses, who wrote the book of the laws, would not be able to even recognize modern Masoretic Hebrew. It is important to point out that the vast majority of English Bibles were translated from the Masoretic Hebrew including the King James version.

There is however another version of the Old Testament translated from the original Koine Greek called the Septuagint.

“The Septuagint (or “LXX: or “Greek Old Testament”) is a translation of the Hebrew Old Testament and certain Apocrypha, which was sponsored according to tradition in the late 3rd century BC by Ptolemy II Philadelphus, the king of Ptolemaic Egypt (283BC to 246 Bc). The Greek translation was originally created for use by the Alexandrian Jews who were fluent in Koine Greek, but not in Hebrew. Thus the Septuagint is sometimes called the “Apostle's Bible” and was the one that Jesus and His disciples would have had access to. It is quoted in the New Testament by writers such as the Apostle Paul, and remained the Scripture of use by the Apostolic Fathers.

The translation of the Septuagint into English by Sir Lancelot C. L. Brenton was first published in 1851 and was based primarily upon the Codex Vaticanus, one of the oldest extant manuscripts of the Greek Bible. It remains the standard of use by many scholars and students of Scripture and History.” Thomas Horn

If we look in the Septuagint we find something very interesting.

“The Lord has gone up to the heavens, and has thundered: he will judge the extremities of the earth, and he gives strength to our kings, and will exalt the horn of his Christ. “And I will raise up to myself a faithful priest, who shall do all that is in my heart and in my soul; and I will build him a sure house, and he shall walk before my Christ for ever.” 1 Kings 2:10, 35 (KJV 1 Samual 2:10, 35 uses the word anointed)

“The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers gathered themselves together, against the Lord, and against his Christ;” Psalms 2:2 (KJV uses anointed)

“Now I know that the Lord has saved his Christ: he shall hear him from his holy heaven: the salvation of his right hand is mighty.” Psalms 20:6 (KJV anointed)

“And thou shalt know and understand, that from the going forth of the command for the answer and for the building of Jerusalem until Christ the prince there shall be seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks; and then the time shall return, and the street shall be built, and the wall, and the times shall be exhausted.” Daniel 9:25 (KJV-Messiah)

For, behold, I am he that strengthens the thunder, and creates the wind, and proclaims to men his Christ, forming the morning and the darkness, and mounting on the high places of the earth, The Lord God Almighty is his name.” Amos 4:13 (KJV- thought)

Conclusion

This is how Simeon, some of them of Jerusalem, the woman at the well, and Simon all refer to Jesus as Christ, they knew the Greek Old Testament where the word “Christ” appears six times.

Why was this changed from the Paleo Hebrew, correctly translated into the Koine Greek, and expunged in the Mosoretic Hebrew. Why do you think? Write us and let us know you thoughts on the matter.

“And Pilate wrote a title, and put [it] on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS. This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, [and] Greek, [and] Latin.” John 19:19-20

Super Wolf Blood Moon to Occur This Month, Is This a Sign of War in the Middle East?

Kayla Koslosky | ChristianHeadlines.com Editor | Monday, January 7, 2019

A Super Blood Wolf Moon is set to grace the night sky between January 20 and January 21 this year, and some are marking it as a sign of war in the Middle East.

First thing is first, what is a “Super Blood Wolf Moon?”

A Super Blood Wolf Moon is first a Super Moon. A Super Moon occurs when the moon is at the point in its orbit when it is closest to the Earth. According to USA Today, the moon can look up to 14 percent bigger during this point in its orbit.

Second, it is a Blood Moon. Blood Moons were given their name because of the brassy-red color the moon turns when the Earth blocks the majority of the sunlight from reaching it. Just like how your finger turns red when you press your finger against your phone light, the moon will shine as red because light is still passing through Earth’s atmosphere, only the blue is being filtered out, USA Today reports.

According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, a Full moon in January is called the Wolf Moon. The Almanac notes that this specific type of moon has been referred to as a Wolf Moon since Native American and Colonial times because it “appear[s] when wolves howled in hunger outside of villages.” Essentially the wolf part of the name refers to the fact the moon is full.

Now we have a massive, full, red-colored moon… so what? Well, it’s about to eclipse.

According to Mental Floss, the Super Blood Wolf Moon is set to totally eclipse Between 9:12 pm on January 20 and 12:12 am on January 21. The eclipse, which will be seen in North America, comes exactly one year after a Super Blood Wolf Moon total eclipse occurred over the Middle East and it also happens to occur on the same day President Trump was inaugurated two years ago, WND reports.

In his book on the Biblical significance of blood moons, Pastor Mark Biltz notes that celestial bodies work “as signs to mark sacred times.”

Blitz made all sorts of connections between the Super Blood Wolf Moon and history, telling WND, “Trump was born on the night of June 14, 1946, within 15 minutes of a total lunar eclipse and 700 days before the state of Israel was established. When he was sworn in as president on January 20, 2017, he was 70-years-old, seven months and seven days. Also, very significantly, the Super Blood Moon also falls on the Jewish holiday of Tu B’Shevat. Even more significant is the fact that there was another Blood Moon on Tu B’Shevat last year! Last year the blood moon was seen over the Middle East and this year will be seen over the U.S.”

Blitz continued. “The Bible says that everything is to be established by two or three witnesses,” “As a matter of fact the Bible says in Psalms 89 that God’s covenant with Israel and King David is forever and the sun and the moon are to be His faithful witnesses in heaven confirming that,” he added.

The Pastor then cited several passages in Zechariah, Leviticus (19:23-25), and Revelations (6), and noted that based on his Biblical analysis, this Super Wolf Blood Moon indicates, not the end of the world, but a war in the Middle East. He said, “I’m not saying it is the end of the world or that anything will happen on the 20th. I am saying the patterns show this year could possibly bring a war to the Middle East but Israel will be victorious and we may see a declaration for the rebuilding of the Temple.”

Israeli Police Fire Tear Gas at Palestinian Christians Protesting Israeli Exhibit Mocking Jesus Christ

Celine Hagbard

January 12, 2019

Hundreds of Palestinian Christians and their supporters gathered Friday in Haifa, in northern Israel, to protest an Israeli exhibit that featured Ronald McDonald taking the place of Jesus on the cross.

The so-called “McJesus” exhibit was created by Finnish artist Jani Leinon, and has been on display at a gallery in Haifa as part of a gallery exhibition called ‘Sacred Goods’.

It recently came to the attention of church authorities in Haifa, who called for the protest.

The Greek Patriarchate said “While we express freedom of expression, this should not include mocking and targeting our religion and religious figures”.

The Patriarchate added that they blame the municipality of Haifa for this exhibit. They said that the Municipality collects taxes, including from those Christians that were insulted by this exhibit. This was especially insulting because the timing of the exhibit came just as the Greek Orthodox Christians were celebrating Christmas, according to their calendar.

The Israeli authorities claimed that the night before the protest, an unknown person threw a flaming bottle at the museum, causing minimal damage.

During the protest on Friday, Israeli police say that three of their officers were hit by rocks and bottles and injured. Dozens of Palestinian protesters were treated for the effects of tear gas inhalation.

The Israeli Cultural Minister, Miri Regev, on Thursday weighed in on the issue, saying that she had received “ many complaints of serious offense caused to the Christian community’s feelings”, and asked the Director General of Haifa Museums to remove the controversial artwork.

School: Kids can't share details on Bible promotion

January 13, 2019

A lawsuit has been filed against the Huntington Beach, California, City School District for banning students from sharing information with each other about a promotional “Bring Your Bible to School” day.

The lawsuit was filed in federal court in California by the non-profit Freedom X Law on behalf of Holly and Jason Bausch, who have two children in the school district.

The complaint charges the district violated the First Amendment and other constitutional rights of the children by ordering them not to exchange information on brochures with other students about the annual event.

The event is sponsored by Focus on the Family, the evangelical Christian organization founded by Dr. James Dobson.

“For several years, Focus on the Family has sponsored its nationwide Bring Your Bible to School Day event designed to empower students to celebrate religious freedom – and share God’s hope with their friends – by taking a simple action: bringing their Bible to school,” the legal team said.

“Under well-settled constitutional law, the First Amendment applies to all student oral expression and literature distribution during non-instructional time, regardless of religious content. School officials may not prohibit this expression out of fear that allowing religious speech will offend some members of the community,” Freedom X explained.

“This, by the way, is a school district that has no trouble teaching Islam. But that’s another story. When the two brothers sought to obtain the school’s permission, they were in for a rude awakening. Despite being provided with a legal analysis explaining the boys’ right to hand out their flyers, the school’s principal, Constance E. Polhemus, responded to their mother, ‘As a public school we cannot approve the distribution of religious materials to students during school hours.'”

District officials declined to respond to a WND request for comment.

“Principal Polhemus and the Huntington Beach City School District are about to learn a hard lesson in constitutional law,” said Freedom X president and chief counsel Bill Becker.

“Students, regardless of grade level, have a First Amendment right to express a religious viewpoint to another student, including the right to distribute religious flyers, without fear,” he said.

“One wonders how school administrators come to believe that the voluntary expression of religious viewpoints in a public school is somehow forbidden but everything else (including the perverse indoctrination of LGBT propaganda) is permissible.”

The complaint explains that the boys wanted to exchange information with friends during noninstructional time, such as lunch and recess. The principal, however, declared they could give friends information only before or after the school day.

But that, the complaint argues, violates not only the First Amendment but also the 14th Amendment.

The school, after all, lets students hand out flyers with “non-religious” messages during those times, it argues.

But the principal’s decision regarding the Bible promotion was that as “a public school we cannot approve the distribution of religious materials to students during school hours.”

When the parents presented the school with a legal memorandum that explains students’ rights include handing out brochures during non-instructional time, “regardless of religious content,” the school still was uncooperative, the claim says.

The plaintiffs had received flyers distributed by other students and by the school on prior occasions during the school day, including those from Boys & Girls Club and a chess club.

The Bible brochures should be handled the same way, the case contends.

The complaint alleges violations of the First Amendment’s free speech and religious exercise clauses, as well as the 14th Amendment’s equal protection and due process provisions. It seeks a declaration of the constitutional violations, nominal damages for loss of constitutional rights and compensatory and punitive damages.

Battering-ram attack on homeschoolers gets court OK

January 13, 2019

The European Court of Human Rights has issued a ruling supporting a decision by German authorities to demand parents relinquish their children to state socialization in public schools, accompanied by the right of government to remove those children – through methods including police battering-ram assaults on the family home – to make sure that happens.

The stunning verdict comes in the case involving the Wunderlich family, on whose trials WND has reported over the years.

It was in August 2013 that WND’s report on the battering-ram attack grabbed the attention of millions of readers.

At the time, four children, ages 7-14, of Dirk and Petra Wunderlich were forcibly carried out of their parents’ home by police officers. Those cops had arrived while they were homeschooling, and were armed with a battering ram to knock down the front door.

Dirk Wunderlich’s quick actions, in seeing the officers out the window and noticing their attack preparations and then opening the door, prevented the actual physical attack.

But his children were taken by the government, kept in detention for several weeks, and only later returned. But even then the government refused to give parental authority over the children back to their parents.

The Wunderlichs long have fought Germany’s demand that all children submit to indoctrination in public school because of the anti-Christian values taught there. They have argued in multiple court cases over fines and the like that the state schools are, in effect, teaching an anti-Christian faith system to which they do not want their children subjected.

Government officials there have said their Christian values are of no account.

It was a combination of court and social work action against the Wunderlichs in Germany that had authorized police to use force against the family, who were in violation of a law first imposed in Germany under the Hitler regime that requires kids to be in public schools.

The police raid took place at 8 a.m. as the children were beginning their day’s homeschool classes, and observers described it at the time as “brutal and vicious.”

According to officials with the Alliance Defending Freedom International, representing the family, the children were “traumatized” by the government attack on the family, and their only option remaining is to take their case against the government to the Grand Chamber of the ECHR.

“We are extremely disappointed with this ruling, which disregards the rights of parents all over Europe to raise their children without disproportionate interference from the government,” said ADF International Director of European Advocacy Robert Clarke.

“Petra and Dirk Wunderlich simply wanted to educate their children consistent with their convictions and decided their home environment would be the best place for this. Children deserve this loving care from their parents. We are now advising the Wunderlichs of their options, including taking the case to the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights,” he said.

More than 30 police officers and others had been assembled for the assault on the family in 2013.

“The authorities brutally removed the children from their parents and their home, leaving the family traumatized. The children were ultimately returned to their parents, but their legal status remained unclear as Germany is one of the few European countries that penalizes families who want to homeschool,” the ADF reported.

“It is a very disheartening day for our family and the many families affected by this in Germany,” said Dirk Wunderlich, the father of the children, in a statement released by the ADF.

“After years of legal struggles, this is extremely frustrating for us and our children. It is upsetting that the European Court of Human Rights has not recognized the injustices we have suffered at the hands of the German authorities.”

“This ruling ignores the fact that Germany’s policy on homeschooling violates the rights of parents to educate their children and direct their upbringing,” said ADF International Executive Director Paul Coleman. “It is alarming to see that this was not recognized by the most influential human rights court in Europe. This ruling is a step in the wrong direction and should concern anyone who cares about freedom.”

Homeschooling has been surging around the world and is protected in many nations. The eruptions of anti-homeschooling activism that have erupted largely have been in more-socialist countries like Germany, which demands that no children be allowed to learn about “parallel” societies.

In fact, homeschoolers mostly get far superior scores on standardized tests to those attending public schools.

The court ruling adopted the position that socialism is something that governments can demand of their citizens. In fact, it noted that Germany filed criminal charges against the parents in the case.

“The state, in introducing such a system, had aimed at ensuring the integration of children into society with a view to avoiding the emergence of parallel societies,” the group of judges concluded.

The aim, the court said was to “prevent social isolation.”

It concluded that wasn’t changed by the fact that the children “had sufficient knowledge, social skills and a loving relationship with their parents.”

It justified the German government’s plans for violence against the family because social workers did not know those details.

The opinion, significantly, fails to even mention the anti-Christian theologies in Germany’s schools to which the parents objected.

Two years ago the family fought back, going to the international court.

Dirk Wunderlich explained at the time, “Our youngest daughter was only 4 years old when the authorities broke into our home and took our children without warning. She couldn’t stop crying for 11 days. Her older sister hasn’t laughed since this incident. We chose to educate our children at home, because we believe this to be the best environment for them to learn and thrive.”

While Germany’s ban on homeschooling dates back about a century, the nation since then has signed a number of international human rights agreements explicitly providing protections for the rights of parents to direct the education of their children.

It was Adolf Hitler who denounced homeschooling and stated the government’s claim to the minds of children.

“The youth of today is ever the people of tomorrow,” he said. “For this reason we have set before ourselves the task of inoculating our youth with the spirit of this community of the people at a very early age, at an age when human beings are still unperverted and therefore unspoiled. This Reich stands, and it is building itself up for the future, upon its youth. And this new Reich will give its youth to no one, but will itself take youth and give to youth its own education and its own upbringing.”

Shirley Boone, Pat's love for life, dies at 84

January 12, 2019

Shirley and Pat Boone

It was one of the great entertainment industry love stories ever – Pat and Shirley Boone.

They were married for 65 years until Friday morning when death took her.

But Pat says he will see her soon, seeing as how she just changed address.

In her final moments, Shirley was surrounded by her husband and the couple’s four daughters, Cherry, Lindy, Debby and Laury, all of whom were by her bedside singing hymns as she passed.

It was a peaceful death in their Beverly Hills home due to complications from vasculitis, which she had contracted less than a year ago.

“We lived a wonderful, blessed life together for 65 years,” said Pat. “I’ve parted with my better half for a little while … but we don’t die, we just move on to another place, and today was moving day. She’s changed her address is all and moved to a different mansion that I expect to join her in one day. I’m very confident of that. That took the sting out of what happened today because we know we’re gonna be together again and have a whole new beginning.”

Joseph Farah, a friend of 54 years said that sounded just like Pat.

“Even in such a painful and emotionally tough time, it’s just like Pat to make such a beautiful allusion to their steadfast faith,” he said. “That’s why the Boones have been such stalwart evangelists as long as I have known them.”

Pat and Shirley began their love story at 16-years-old.

“We were very much in love,” Pat revealed.

It wasn’t until they were 19 when Shirley’s family planned to move away, that Pat realized it was time to ask her father – country singing legend Red Foley – for permission to marry Shirley.

“He tearfully asked me one thing, ‘Will you take care of my girl?’ and I said I would,” Pat explained. “And the tears rolled into his coffee because he knew he was moving and planned to take her with him, but he was willing to leave her with me.”

In November 1953, the pair eloped and then settled in Teaneck, New Jersey, where they welcomed their four daughters in five years.

Farah, born in 1954, caught up with the pop star in 1965 at the age of 11. He lived across the street from the church the Boones attended at the time – just a few miles from Teaneck.

“It was the time the Beatles were taking over the pop charts, but Pat was already a legend – with more number-one hits than Elvis,” Farah recalls. “Rolling Stone magazine would figure that out many years later.”

Meanwhile, Pat was graduating cum laude from Columbia University and having a friendly competition with Elvis on the pop charts. Shirley focused on raising the four girls.

They eventually moved to Beverly Hills together, where they resided for more than 50 years, watching their four children, 16 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren grow up. Farah also moved to Los Angeles where he reengaged his friendship with the couple – now as an entertainment reporter.

After the girls were raised, Shirley carved out exciting new roles for herself – best-selling author, recording artist, television hostess and humanitarian.

Shirley was well-known for starting a billion-dollar Christian ministry. The couple’s Christian faith was also a contributing key factor in what drove their marriage to last for so long.

“We didn’t have the perfect marriage, but it helps to marry a magnificent woman,” Pat told People magazine. “You make your commitments to God and each other, and in troubled times, you hang on to the commitment to God and to your kids. You see the problems through and you find you’re stronger because of it.”

Part of her passions were also focused on giving back to others, which she first did through an organization she created called Save the Refugee.

Shirley, along with ministers and other humane organizations, raised over a million dollars in a week’s time, sending food and medicines over to Cambodia to assist with the hunger crisis. Their organization eventually morphed into Mercy Corps, now one of the most prominent worldwide hunger-relief organizations.

“[Mercy Corps] continues to grow, and all of this started from her tears and her conviction that we could do something,” Pat said. “She was always ready to interrupt what she was doing and help somebody else.”

And that desire to give back was one of the things Pat says he will remember most about his wife.

“She had an honest, deep, earnest love for people and her desire to help people as an activist,” he said. “She was so easy to love because she loved so easily and so naturally.”

"Something Biblical Is Approaching" - Here Are The Scenarios Of The Collapse

By Tyler Durden

January 12, 2019

Submitted by Tuomas Malinen of GNSEconomics

2019 has started more calmly after a very volatile year-end in the markets. Focus has been on the trade deal between China and the US and the words of the central bankers, most notably those of Jay Powell. However, this is all just a distraction, a side-show. The market volatility was only the first sign of an approaching global economic crisis, as we warned in December 2017.

As the recent PMI figures across the globe show, a global downturn has started and the world is utterly unprepared for it. The global imbalances that have been growing for years cannot lead to anything else than a global crisis . However, there are different paths the crisis could take.

Here, we present three scenarios that the global economy is likely to follow, when the global downturn morphs into something much more sinister.

We’ll start with the most likely scenario: Global Depression.

Scenario I: Global Depression

In a depression, everything that has been driven the economic expansion goes into reverse. Asset markets experience severe contraction (in excess of 50 percent), credit becomes restricted, corporations and households de-lever fiercely, and global trade flows stall (for more details see Q-review 2/2018). GDP falls dramatically, between 10 to 25 percent. Unemployment skyrockets. The standard means of stimulus by central banks and governments are exhausted without any notable improvement in the economic environment.

The implosion of the current asset bubble will start a relentless unwinding of leverage and risk in the global financial system. Because major central banks are still “all-in” with rates pinned at or near historic lows, and balance sheets bloated to extreme levels, their ability to respond will be highly restricted. Governments are also highly-indebted, and when interest rates rise, some sovereigns are likely to default, aggravating the global banking crisis, which will probably be in motion already. Combined with the zombified global business sector and a hard landing in China, these factors will lead the world economy into a depression. However, a possibility of something even more ominous is lurking in the background.

Scenario II: Systemic Meltdown

Systemic crisis would mean that the global financial melts down due to an existential deficit of trust between counterparties within the system. Before 2008, a systemic meltdown was mostly a theoretical construct. However, in mid-October in 2008, global leaders were faced with the possibility that banks would not open on Monday. The interbank markets had frozen, because no one knew the amount of the losses banks carried on their books. The global financial system was grinding to a halt. Politicians and central bankers saved the day by guaranteeing bank deposits and by providing capital and extraordinary guarantees to keep the important financial institutions standing and credit flowing.

Now the problem is that many of these measures are already in play and when the next crisis hits, the solvency of governments and central banks will also be in question. This creates a perilous situation because, for example, the shares of the global systemically important banks, G-SIBs, have been falling since the beginning of last year, which was also the time when the balance sheet normalization (QT) program of the Fed kicked into full gear. This is no coincidence and it implies that troubles are, once again, brewing in the banking sector.

Because a crash in the asset values would affect the collateral of banks and because global depression would lead to a massive increase in loan losses, the already-impaired banking sector could, again, face collapse. However, this time around, there is very little authorities can do to stem the panic. These factors make the systemic meltdown an ominously-likely scenario.

Systemic meltdown would mean that all banking actions, distribution of money, loans, swaps, banking services, etc., through the banking sector would stop. Credit cards would cease to function, ATMs would not give out money and loans could not be originated or rolled-over. Following the likely collapse of global trade, the world economy would also collapse. This would imply that the global GDP would experience a harrowing fall of 20 to 40 percent. Modern societies would cease to exist in their current form.

Scenario III: The fairy tale

Could this all be averted somehow? We’ve been pondering this for two years now, and our resounding answer is no. The leverage in the system usually results in a crash at some point, and asset bubbles very rarely deflate in a controlled manner. However, CBs can probably still postpone the inevitable, if they could re-start QE programs or find some other way to push artificial central bank liquidity into the financial markets.

To soften the eventual blow, and as an extremely desperate measure, central banks could, at least in theory, engage in a “QE-squared”. In it, major central banks would buy a hefty chunk of global risk assets, estimated to total $400 trillion. This would mean that the balance sheet of major CBs would need to expand at least five-fold from the current level of approximately $20 trillion. To cover the crippling losses to their collective balance sheets that these purchases would be likely to inflict, they would need to use their money-printing ability to paper them over.

Central banks earn seigniorage-revenue from all the money they create. This is the difference between the nominal value and the production costs of the money. Because production costs of digital entries are very close to zero, the seigniorage revenue CBs receive from each entry is close to 1-to-1. Still, this would mean that they would need to create new money in the range of tens of trillions of US dollars. By comparison, in 2017, the global nominal GDP of the world was approximately $75 trillion.

To distribute such incomprehensible sums of new money, central banks would need to give it directly to consumers and governments. Even in normal circumstances, the production side of the economy would be unlikely to be able to respond to such a massive increase in (artificially created) demand, and this time there would have been wide-spread corporate bankruptcies driven by global depression. A hyper-inflation would be likely to follow.

There’s also the alternative that CBs would make a complete U-turn and continue to backstop market losses. This would be the “way of Japan”, where the BoJ already owns over 40% of the sovereign bond universe. It would eventually mean the effective nationalization of capital markets which would continue to function in name only.

We have no historical experience with what the expropriation of modern capital markets would cause. However, it would be unlikely to be anything good as capital markets have been around for several centuries, and they are extremely important in allocating financial capital efficiently. If central banks take a permanent active role in the capital markets, it would lead to financial market socialism. It would be likely to bring similar horrors as regular socialism in the form of lost incentives (breaking down of the risk-reward relationship) and inflated asset values. It is unlikely that global central bankers would be willing, or that they would be allowed, to do so.

The endgame nears

The global balance sheet of central banks turned in August 2018 (see Figure1). This marks the start of global QT and thus the end of the most reckless monetary policy experiment in history.

Figure 1. The combined balance sheets of the Bank of Japan, European Central Bank and the Federal Reserve during 2018. Source: GnS Economics, BoJ, ECB, Fed

When this is combined with the slow-down in China, the engine of the world economy since 2008 (see Figure 2), we have finally entered the endgame of at the current business cycle. The desperate measures of central bankers and China enacted after the financial crisis have pushed the global debt and financial alchemy to never-seen heights. The global financial system has become rigged with leverage, moral hazard and regulatory failures to a point where a “purge” has become all-but-impossible to avoid. This is the end.

Figure 2. Gross capital formation in Australia, Canada, China, euro area, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States in constant (2010) US dollars. Sources: GnS Economics, World Bank

Fortunately, even depressions and systemic crises have the tendency to bottom-out and recover. This is driven by resiliency. Even when faced by cataclysmic economic shock, businesses and people try to move forward, and rebuild their lives. Societies just do not spiral into anarchy and mayhem, even if the system should break down.

Still, every company, household and government should start to make contingency plans. Something ‘biblical’ is approaching.

DARPA PROPOSES AN AI THAT CAN MONITOR THE ENTIRE WORLD FOR THREATS
Chris Mahon

Wednesday, 09 January 2019

DARPA already has a reputation as the mad scientist lab of the defense industry (even if they try to deny their work on metahumans or cyborgs), but their previous projects pale in comparison to the sheer scope of their newest artificial intelligence proposal: KAIROS, short for "Knowledge-directed Artificial Intelligence Reasoning Over Schemas." Its purpose? To gaze at the reams of information coming in from all corners of the world to identify patterns and trends that could lead to terrorist attacks, fiscal crises, or other large-scale cataclysmic phenomena.
Many companies (and state intelligence agencies) have dealt with the rise of "Big Data" by utilizing artificial intelligence to sift through all the noise to find useful information.
Unfortunately, AI still has trouble seeing the big picture, especially when it comes to patterns that are obvious to humans. As DARPA program manager Dr. Boyan Onyshkevych describes it: "The process of uncovering relevant connections across mountains of information and the static elements that they underlie requires temporal information and event patterns, which can be difficult to capture at scale with currently available tools and systems."
So KAIROS is going to have to teach itself, first by learning what "schemas" are. In this case, schemas are like little narratives that help organize different events into recognizable patterns, like the process of going to the store and buying milk because you're thirsty. After building up an archive of recognized schemas, KAIROS will then need to start applying its knowledge to new data, eventually learning to recognize schemas and predict outcomes. Of course, the "new data" that it will be shown could be nearly anything, even seemingly random information.
If KAIROS does its job correctly, however, it should be able to make sense out of the chaos and pick out any hidden patterns, essentially allowing it to get a finger on the pulse of current events... Or even predict what will happen next.

Big Tech's China BETA Test For America: We're Caught In An Electronic Prison Of Our Own Making

Big Tech's China BETA Test For America: We're Caught In An Electronic Prison Of Our Own Making

- And Our Freedoms Were Betrayed Over To Lucifer For His Soul Taking!

While 10's of millions of Americans and countless more people around the world 'slept', we'll posit here with sourced backing in the story below that George Orwell's 'constant surveillance system' from his book "1984" has been built up all around us with the CIA long-funding cutting-edge technology firms and China now 'big tech's' BETA-testing ground for what will soon be coming to America, with it already being unveiled in stages over the past decade and still today as this story is being written.
According to the Wikipedia's entry for 'Big Brother' from Orwell's book "1984", in the society that Orwell describes, every citizen is under constant surveillance by the authorities, mainly by telescreens. With that entry reminding us of this new story over at the website "Study Finds" that the Drudge Report had linked to on Tuesday which reports that the average American spends half of their 'awake' hours every day staring at screens, how long will it be before the government openly admits as Orwell's government did in "1984", "Big Brother Is Watching You!"?
And while in modern culture, the term "Big Brother" has become a synonym for the rampant and seemingly never-ending abuse of government power, particularly in respect to mass surveillance, 'privacy' is gone forever as Steve Quayle warns us we have literally been caught in an electronic prison of our own making. And what is happening now in China with social credit scores following the Chinese people where ever they go is absolutely a BETA test for what 'big tech' and the globalists have coming to America.
And we find it concerning that in Orwell's 1984 and the 'telescreens' forever watching us we see a very concerning parallel with recent remarks made by Russian Orthodox Church Patriarch Kirill who warned that the 'antichrist' will control human beings through 'gadgets' and it will be our very dependence upon modern technologies that will 'usher the antichrist in'.
With America clearly now having reached the point in time warned about by former CIA Director William J. Casey back in February of 1981 when he said "We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false", privacy is clearly gone forever in 2019 due largely to the CIA's ownership and partnership with every big tech/spy tech company in the world as we'll see detailed and sourced below.
While the mainstream media might call it 'fake news', as we reported on ANP back on April 12th of 2018 the ties between Mark Zuckerberg's 'facebook' and the 'deep state' are undeniable with 'facebook' being created the day after the Pentagon killed a project by DARPA called "Lifelog", a project which aimed to database every facet of people's lives. From that story:
All the way back on February 4th of 2004, Wired.com reported that the Pentagon had killed off its ambitious 'LifeLog' project following a massive outcry from civil libertarians over the Pentagon's plans: to build a database that tracked a person's 'entire existence'.
Run by DARPA, the Defense Department's Advanced Research arm, LifeLog aimed to gather in a single place just about everything an individual says, sees or does: the phone calls made, the TV shows watched, the magazines read, the plane tickets bought, the e-mail sent and received. The Wikipedia entry for LifeLog takes it even further:
According to its bid solicitation pamphlet, it was to be "an ontology-based (sub)system that captures, stores, and makes accessible the flow of one person's experience in and interactions with the world in order to support a broad spectrum of associates/assistants and other system capabilities".
The objective of the LifeLog concept was "to be able to trace the 'threads' of an individual's life in terms of events, states, and relationships", and it has the ability to "take in all of a subject's experience, from phone numbers dialed and e-mail messages viewed to every breath taken, step made and place gone".
While researchers close to the DARPA project said they weren't sure why the project was dropped at the end of January of 2004 with DARPA never providing an 'official explanation' as to why the ambitious project was quietly canceled, it's likely much more than just a coincidence that Mark Zuckerberg officially founded Facebook on February 4th, the very day of the Wired story.
Back on February 18th of 2016, Susan Duclos had published this story on ANP titled "From Cashless Society To Killing People According To Meta-Data 'Skynet' Is Real, It Is Live And It Has Already Taken Control - CIA, Google, Facebook Connections" within which she pointed out the ties between the CIA, big tech and the 'skynet' that is still being created all around us while warning that people's 'meta-data' alone was getting them killed.
And all the way back on July 11th of 2011, CBS News published a story titled "Social Media Is A Tool Of The CIA. Seriously", within which they reported upon the slew of investments the CIA was making in 'cutting edge' technology firms via their own technology investment farm called "In-Q-Tel". The following excerpt comes to us directly from that story.:
You don't need to wear a tinfoil hat to believe that the CIA is using Facebook, Twitter, Google (GOOG) and other social media to spy on people. That's because the CIA publishes a helpful list of press releases on all the social media ventures it sponsors, via its technology investment arm In-Q-Tel.
The companies that take In-Q-Tel's money aren't shy about publicizing what they're up to, either. Most recently, GeoSemble announced an update to its GeoXray product, which monitors social media chatter based on location:
This capability benefits business users who may be monitoring competition, supply chain activity or business opportunities in a county, neighborhood or border region.
For governments at the city, local and Federal levels it brings the ability to visualize activity in a given area filtered by topic, time and location.
... we can deliver whatever information is available about that place from websites, blogs, tweets and other social media automatically and accurately ...
Back in August of 2012, Business Insider published this story titled "25 Cutting Edge Companies Funded By The Central Intelligence Agency" while 4 years later in September of 2016 they updated that story with this one titled "14 cutting edge firms funded by the CIA". In both stories they report that the CIA had been pumping huge amounts of money into Silicon Valley's most innovative companies, companies which are using all of the latest modern technologies including artificial intelligence, companies which specialize in 'tracking' and 'monitoring' and 'mapping' as well as companies creating robots.
With robots like the above pictured creation of Boston Dynamics looking more like a contraption that will be used to hunt down and kill human beings than something that will be used for beneficial purposes, the fact that so many of these new emerging technologies will be used for war rather than peace is highly concerning and helps to prove the globalists have no good intentions.
And in Casey's 1981 warning of "knowing their disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false" we also get more recent evidence with tech insiders now warning of fake ads and fake social media posts with even a fake Washington Post being widely distributed across the DC area which read "Unpresidented. Trump hastily departs White House, ending crisis" showing disinformation is being widely now used and disseminated all across the spectrum.
And there's nothing that the globalists like more than a totally dumbed down and submissive populace.
Like the science fiction TV show "Person Of Interest", China's new dystopian social credit system keeps track of everybody via a facial recognition system run via artificial intelligence that many call beyond our worst nightmares. China is actually now using twitter to arrest political dissidents. As our videographer points out, if you want a glimpse into what 'the left' hopes to bring to the United States, we need to look no further than Communist China.
As that story by Kaitlin Bennett points out, this is more evidence that the global elite are using China as a testing ground for their agenda, especially with many big tech firms actually moving to China over the past several years, allowing them to test their Orwellian tech upon 1.3 billion Chinese people already living under 'totalitarianism'.
As one twitter commenter wisely had pointed out while talking about this recent ANP story, it's no wonder that "Person Of Interest" was abruptly canceled, it showed us way too much of the globalists sinister agenda.
With big tech's move to China allowing the totalitarian Chinese government to build a system to monitor every single person within China, allowing them to keep track of purchases made, every movement they take and every keystroke they make the perfect BETA test for what the globalists would like to unveil in America, Steve Quayle's warning that we're now living within an electronic prison system of our own making came with the following closer: "and our freedoms were betrayed over to Lucifer for his soul taking!"

P&G Urges Men to Lose Their ‘Toxic Masculinity’ in Gillette Razor Ad

By Tom Ciccotta

January 14, 2019

Proctor & Gamble is urging men to shave their “toxic masculinity” in a new ad for Gillette razors. The ad shows men fighting, cooking barbecue, and verbally harassing women, interspersed with news reports about the #MeToo movement.

A new ad from P&G razor brand Gillette encourages men to reexamine themselves and the way that they raise young boys. The ad, which is called “We Believe: The Best Men Can Be,” is essentially a two-minute broad generalization about the way that men act and think.

The ad depicts men getting into fights, standing in front of barbecue grills, and verbally harassing women. The ad also heavily features news clips discussing the recent #MeToo movement.

In a comment to the Wall Street Journal, Pankaj Bhalla, Gillette’s brand director, said that the advertisement is a meditation on the changes that men must make in America. “This is an important conversation happening, and as a company that encourages men to be their best, we feel compelled to both address it and take action of our own,” Bhalla said. “We are taking a realistic look at what’s happening today, and aiming to inspire change by acknowledging that the old saying ‘Boys Will Be Boys’ is not an excuse. We want to hold ourselves to a higher standard, and hope all the men we serve will come along on that journey to find our ‘best’ together.”

The ad immediately turned off customers, many of which said that they are done buying Gillette products.

“I am taking action,” one Twitter user said in response to Gillette’s call for action. “I’m researching every product made by Proctor & Gamble, throwing any I have in the trash, and never buying any of them again until everyone involved in this ad from top to bottom is fired and the company issues a public apology.”

“Oh FFS,” another user wrote. “Let me know more toxic masculinity when it saves you from a burning building, goes to war to protect you and your freedoms, or rescues puppies, kittens, and horses from flood waters after a hurricane.”

(It seems that this has become the most disliked item to ever appear on the internet. Ed)

Feds admit they can't protect electrical grid from terror

January n13, 2019

A new federal report, “Surviving a Catastrophic Power Outage,” warns that the United States’ response plans and resources would be hugely “outmatched” by a catastrophic power outage, which could leave society in disarray and many people dead.

“We found that existing national plans, response resources, and coordination strategies would be outmatched by a catastrophic power outage,” said the report, which was released days ago.

“Significant public and private action is needed to prepare for and recover from a catastrophic outage that could leave the large parts of the nation without power for weeks or months, and cause service failures in other sections – including water and wastewater, communications, transportation, healthcare, and financial services – that are critical.”

WND has reported for years on the threat of an electromagnetic pulse attack, or EMP, from a solar flare or a nuclear explosion above the nation.

The President’s National Infrastructure Advisory Council was set up right after 9/11 to advise on practical strategies for industry and government to reduce the many risks from such an event.

But the study looked at not just EMP but at any major power-system failure. And it comes just as the threats of terrorist attacks on the electric grid are rising.

PJMedia reported the newest terror threat on the power grid.

“The image shows a faceless figure in a black hoodie with the Islamic State flag holding a bomb with a lit fuse with transmission towers and lines in the background. Along the power lines is the phrase ‘Just Terror’ – the ISIS slogan for lone jihadist operations – and blood-spattered ground,” the report said. “The poster directs jihadists to ‘make a surprise for the Crusaders.’

“The infrastructure threat is uncommon in ISIS propaganda, which has focused more on knife, vehicle or gun attacks in crowded areas such as festivals or music venues. Suggested targets have ranged from well-fortified locations, such as the U.S. Capitol or UN Security Council, to soft targets with little symbolic significance,” PJMedia reported.

“At the end of last month, another ISIS-allied media group encouraged jihadists to ‘kill the infidels in ways which no one else ever used’ including ‘electricity’ among methods such as snakes, poison gas, poisoned arrows, and wild animals.”

The new NIAC report was based on interviews with dozens of senior leaders and experts, as well as an extensive review of studies and statutes.

The team recommends that the nation “design a national approach to prepare for, respond to, and recover from catastrophic power outages that provides the federal guidance, resources, and incentives needed to take action across all levels of government and industry and down to communities and individuals.”

Then, the report says, leaders need to improve understanding of “how cascading failures across critical infrastructure will affect restoration and survival.”

A number of initiatives already are under way, and they should be continued.

But they’re not enough.

“The solutions we identified will require strong public-private collaboration – as the NIAC has recommended previously – to address the scale and significance of catastrophic power outages,” the report says.

The report advises assigning responsibilities ahead of such an event and ensuring resources are available to minimize the impact and hasten recovery.

It also calls for guidance for locating resources where populations need them for sheltering in a catastrophe.

Fourth would be to design incentives and remove barriers to implementation of precautionary measures.

Region-wide tests are then needed along with standards for transmission lines, wires and pipes.

Finally, a flexible communications system would be needed to connect infrastructure owners-operators, emergency responders and government leaders.

“These actions require a whole-of-nation approach and strong public-private collaboration. Given the importance of this issue and the number of ongoing efforts, we request the National Security Council – working with the lead agencies identified – provide a status update to the NIAC within nine months of the report’s approval on how our recommendations are being implemented, progress being made … or any significant barriers.”

A power outage, the report notes, “is not simply a bigger, strong storm. It is something that could paralyze entire regions, with grave implications for the nation’s economic and social well-being.”

The issue is that when power goes out, so do systems providing water and food, communications, financial services, transportation, fuel, health care and more.

Governments are not the only ones missing the mark.

The report says: “People no longer keep enough essentials within their homes, reducing their ability to sustain themselves during an extended, prolonged outage. … Most preparedness campaigns call for citizens to be prepared for 72 hours in an emergency, but the new emerging standard is 14 days.”

The solution is going to take the efforts of the government, business, industry, society and individuals together, the report says.

The report urges the federal government take the lead on the issue, but “strong and effective public-private collaboration will be crucial.”

Over 770 million email addresses shared online in largest data breach in history

January 17, 2019

File photo: © Global Look Press / DPA / Sebastian Gollnow

A security researcher has blown the lid off the largest data breach in history as over 770 million emails and 21 million unique passwords have been exposed, eclipsing the Equifax and Yahoo hacks by a significant margin.

The breach is being dubbed ‘Collection #1’ and contains a raw data set of email addresses and passwords totalling 2,692,818,238 rows from potentially thousands of different sources, according to digital security expert Troy Hunt.

In total, there are 1,160,253,228 unique combinations of email addresses and passwords contained within over 12,000 separate files, constituting a truly staggering 87GB of data (for context, this is raw text, not 4K video).

In terms of sheer volume, it is being considered the largest data breach in history, second only to Yahoo's high profile cyber security gaffes which affected billions of users, though it is an aggregate of potentially hundreds if not thousands of breaches.

“It just looks like a completely random collection of sites purely to maximize the number of credentials available to hackers,” Hunt told WIRED. “There’s no obvious patterns, just maximum exposure.”

The breach contains previously encrypted passwords that have been “dehashed” or cracked and converted back to plain text and includes files allegedly from as early as 2008. The information wasn't even for sale but was merely dumped on MEGA and subsequently on a popular hacking forum, free for anyone with scroll and click capabilities to review.

As a result, there is a greatly increased risk of so-called credential-stuffing attacks in which hackers spam websites with various combinations of emails and passwords, including – but not limited to – services like Netflix, Facebook or other social media accounts, and online services. The breach doesn't appear to contain social security or credit card data.

Hunt recommends checking your email addresses on the free service provided by Have I Been Pwned.

If you are included in the breach, which is extremely likely, he recommends using a password manager or even going old school and employing gasp a pen and paper to store your passwords offline. Hack that!

“It might be contrary to traditional thinking, but writing unique passwords down in a book and keeping them inside your physically locked house is a damn sight better than reusing the same one all over the web,” Hunt wrote in his blog post on the breach.

A lucky few are claiming to have escaped the breach, but the odds are not in your favor.

Record temperatures of almost 50 deg C (122 deg F): Drought: Millions of dead fish: Wildfires: Crop failure: Bats and birds dying: Australia summer 2019

Thursday, 17 January 2019

<

p>Australians have been warned to stay indoors as the country's heat wave hits a record highs.
In the South Australian town of Port Augusta, temperatures hit 48.5C on Tuesday, the highest since records began in 1962.
According to the country's meteorological bureau, the past four days are among Australia's top ten warmest days on records.
Temperatures were set to soar to more than 45C on Wednesday in parts of New South Wales, South Australia, and Victoria.
"Avoid physical activity, stay well hydrated - it's vital at this time," said Richard Broome, director of environmental health for the New South Wales state government.
He also urged people to stay indoors during the heat of the day.
For the four-fifths of Australia's 25 million people who live on the coast, the summer typically means lazing on the beach and watching cricket.
But the unusually high temperatures add to a sense of exhaustion for a farm economy already reeling from a year of drought.

Photo news-mail.com.au Hundreds of thousands of fish have died in far western NSW as drought conditions continue to grip the state.

"The weather is not good news for summer grain crops such as sorghum," said Phin Ziebell, agribusiness economist, National Australia Bank.
"Many east coast farmers are still reeling from the winter wheat crops, which suffered from recent drought."
Australia, the world's fourth-largest wheat exporter, saw the production of the grain fall to a 10-year low this year when dry weather wilted crops.
With unusually dry pasture, the danger of bushfires looms.
Emergency workers were forced to battle more than 100 fires across the northeast coast late last year when unprecedented hot weather triggered a wave of blazes.
Meanwhile, in New South Wales, the local government announced plans to mechanically pump oxygen into lakes and rivers after hundreds of thousands of fish have died in heatwave conditions.
Up to a million dead fish were found floating last week in the Darling River in western New South Wales state and the state government announced that 1,800 more rotting fish had since been found in Lake Hume in the state's south.

For the third straight year, extreme heat in Australia is causing bats to fall out of trees dead in alarming numbers.
According to The Cairns Post, temperatures higher than 40 deg C, 104+ deg F, have killed hundreds of flying foxes, who just fall to the floor dead or dying from the extreme heat.
The extreme weather has been taking a toll on the Far North’s flying foxes, who are dropping by the dozen from trees — and causing a potential public health risk.
Wildlife carers say they are struggling with the overwhelming numbers of bats becoming affected by heat stress in colonies in Cairns, Edmonton, Gordonvale, and Townsville.

Theresa May’s Brexit plan rejected by British parliament

Jan 16, 2019

The Brexit deal, painstakingly agreed upon with the EU by PM Theresa May last year, has ultimately flopped, as MPs said a firm no. The failure brings even more uncertainty to the fate of May’s cabinet and the whole Brexit process.

UK parliament voted down May’s Brexit plan on Tuesday by 432 votes to 202 – a margin of 230 – following lengthy debates on the matter. The vote was originally set to be held in mid-December, but was postponed amid fears that MPs would reject the unpopular deal between May and Brussels.

The delay failed to prompt any meaningful changes to aid the PM's cause, as it was ultimately rejected by parliament. The development comes just 10 weeks before the UK is set to leave the EU, bringing even more uncertainty to the already turbulent Brexit process.

Responding to the resounding defeat, May promised that her government "respects the will of the House" but said that it was her "duty to deliver" Brexit for British citizens who voted to leave the EU in 2016.

Every day that passes without a deal, May said, means "more uncertainty, more bitterness and more rancour." She said it was not her government's strategy to "run down the clock" to March 29, when the UK is scheduled to leave the EU, adding that she believes the best way to move forward is in an "orderly way."

May had earlier warned that a no-deal scenario made the prospect of a united Ireland, independent Scotland and ultimate breakup of the UK more likely. She called a no-deal scenario "the real threat to our union."

May admitted that it was now necessary to confirm if the House still has confidence in the government and said that if a motion of no confidence was tabled, it would be debated in parliament on Wednesday.

Standing to speak directly after May, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said the prime minister had suffered a “catastrophic defeat” and immediately tabled that motion of no confidence in her leadership.

Shortly after the vote, a spokesman for May said the government would be in contact with Brussels officials over the coming days and confirmed Downing Street had not ruled out a 'no deal' Brexit.

The Irish government said it regretted the outcome of the vote in the British parliament and urged London to set out how it proposes to move forward with Brexit. Referring to the backstop, Dublin said it recalled the "clear position" of the EU that May's withdrawal agreement was not open for renegotiation.

Theresa May: An extinct prime minister and her dead-man-walking government. By George Galloway

George Galloway was a member of the British Parliament for nearly 30 years. He presents TV and radio shows (including on RT). He is a film-maker, writer and a renowned orator.

Even after her historic Commons defeat over the Brexit deal, PM Theresa May is unlikely to be toppled in the upcoming no-confidence vote. That won't help alleviate the chaos her previous bad decisions have started.

There will now be a special glass case in the political museum for May, who has just suffered – by some distance – the worst defeat for any British prime minister in the history of the country. Like the glass case in London's Natural History Museum marked "Dodo" it will contain an extinct entity, an ex-parrot, an ex-prime minister.

May's defeat by 230 votes is worse by some margin than the next largest, that suffered by the first Labour PM Ramsay MacDonald – by 166 votes – before being brought down by the MI6 forgery known as the Zinoviev Letter in 1924. It is in the memorable words of a commentator at "the upper-end of bad." No political adjectives exist to fully describe the stratospheric scale of the defeat.

In any normal polity, I would now be writing the political obituary of a prime minister who had already delivered her seals of office back to Her Majesty the Queen, who would now be testing the claims to office of a successor to Winston Churchill, Anthony Eden, Harold MacMillan, Alec Douglas-Home, Harold Wilson, Edward Heath, James Callaghan, Margaret Thatcher, John Major, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Theresa May – all PMs during Elizabeth II's long reign.

But there is nothing normal about the polity Britain has now.

On paper, the Conservative Party can do nothing to winkle the limpet Prime Minister May out of office. But as Bill Shankly, the famous manager of Liverpool Football Club, once opined when told that on paper he was sure of a victory one Saturday afternoon, "football isn't played on paper, it's played on grass."

Whilst the failed vote of no confidence in the prime minister, tabled within her own party last December, on paper leaves her invulnerable to internal challenge for the rest of this year, my sense is that this part of the story isn't over yet.

In the earlier part of Queen Elizabeth's reign, there were nothing as vulgar as votes as leadership elections inside the Tory party. Instead there was what was known as "the magic circle" – like the camel, difficult to define but easy to recognize – of the great and the good in the Conservative Party who would take "soundings" of course, but would essentially act as a sounding board which then visited the palace and informed the Queen of the name of the candidate they regarded as a "sound chap" worthy of Her Majesty's confidence. They were known (in those old-fashioned days) as "the men in grey suits."

Whilst both the gender-balance and the wardrobes may have changed since, I believe that the same kind of Tory grandees will be whispering sedition even as I write.

It's not necessary to hate the British Prime Minister to conclude that she cannot possibly be the right team captain to continue to lead the batting for Britain in these circumstances, not least that those circumstances are very largely of her own making.

On the morning after the historic referendum victory to leave the EU, I said in a broadcast that the government should reach out to the leader of the Opposition Jeremy Corbyn to form a joint negotiating team to maximise the advantage to Britain of leaving the European Union.

Not only was this approach refused, Theresa May and her party spent the next two years describing the leader of the opposition as various forms of the "enemy within," from an agent of the Kremlin to a friend of terrorism and extremism of all kinds. To say the least, it is difficult to row back from that now.

Secondly, it was Theresa May herself who willfully threw away the parliamentary majority she had in the hope – having believed her own propaganda that Corbyn was an unpopular Russian stooge – of eviscerating the opposition Labour Party and winning a landslide. She called a snap election, lost her majority and had to watch the falsely labelled "Kremlin stooge" increase the Labour vote by more than any leader since 1945 whilst building the largest left-of-centre party in the western world.

Mrs. May's necessary subsequent reliance on the pro-British northern Irish bloc of ten religious fundamentalists was always bound to founder on the rocks of Brexit, because the Republic of Ireland would henceforth become the border between the EU and British state. The irreconcilable demands of no "hard border" between Ireland north and south (mandatory under the Good Friday Agreement which brought about the end of Britain's War in Ireland) whilst drawing a necessary border between the EU 27 and the British state turned out to be just that – irreconcilable.

But the division in the Conservative party goes much deeper than the Irish Question. In truth, they are two parties (as are, in fact, the Labour Party – but that's for another time). The Conservatives are divided right down the middle between what ontologically can be described as a"national-patriotic" capitalist wing and a "globalist" transnational wing, for whom their own country means little beyond being one of many profit-centres. They have moved beyond national boundaries. The problem for them is that their voters have not moved with them.

Whilst the pro-EU Conservatives may be many (including Mrs. May herself) in Parliament, amongst Conservative Party members and voters they are an all but eclipsed minority.

This evening Mrs. May will face a full-dress no confidence motion in the House of Commons, in which the DUP and the 115 Conservative MPs who abandoned her to humiliation last night will be expected to express their full confidence in her 24 hours later. It is unconscionable, wrong, and electorally devastating.

Whilst it's unlikely that the government will be toppled today, the government will remain a dead man walking. It's equally unlikely that the EU can possibly concede anything like the negotiating territory required to close such a massive credibility gap as demonstrated in this historic parliamentary defeat, but in that case the clock will keep on ticking towards a No-Deal Brexit on March 29th.

It's unlikely the government will table the necessary legislation required to delay that deadline, and still more unlikely that the government will legislate for a second referendum on the deal – for both steps would formally, organically, divide their party into two as last happened 150 years ago.

And so a state of chaos exists this day in the once-United Kingdom. The old Queen has never seen anything like it.

The Decline And Fall Of The European Union

By Tyler Durden

January 15, 2019

Authored by Charles Hugh Smith via OfTwoMinds blog,

This exhaustion of the neocolonial-neofeudal model was inevitable, and as a result, so too is the decline and fall of the European integration/exploitation project.

That a single currency, the euro, would fracture rather than unite Europe was understood long before the euro's introduction as legal tender on January 1, 2002. The euro, the currency of 19 of the 28 member states of the European Union, is only one of the various institutions tying the member nations of the European union together, but it is the linchpin of the financial integration touted as one of the primary benefits of EU membership.

Skepticism of the benefits of EU membership is rising, as citizens of the member nations are questioning the surrender of national sovereignty with renewed intensity.

The technocrat elite that holds power in the EU is attempting to marginalize critics as populists, nationalists or fascists, overlooking the untidy reality that the actual source of tyranny is arguably the unelected bureaucrats of the EU who have taken on extraordinary powers to strip the citizenry of member states of civil liberties (i.e. the right to dissent) and of meaningful political enfranchisement.

As I have patiently explained since 2012, the underlying structure of the EU is neocolonialism, specifically, neocolonial-financialization. Stripped of artifice, the financial institutions of the EU core have colonized the EU periphery via the euro and the EU and imposed a modernized system of extractive serfdom on the citizenry of the core and periphery alike.

To understand the neocolonial-financialization model, we must revisit the classic model of colonialism. In the old model of Colonialism, the colonizing power conquered or co-opted the Power Elites of the region, and proceeded to exploit the new colony's resources and labor to enrich the core or center, i.e. the Imperial nation and its ruling elites.

This traditional model of colonialism was forcibly dismantled in the 1940s-1960s. Former colonies established their political independence, a process that diminished the wealth and control of former colonial powers.

In response, global financial powers sought financial control rather than political control. This is the key dynamic of the Neocolonial-Financialization Model(May 24, 2012), which substitutes the economic power of financialization (debt, leverage and speculation) for the raw power of conquest and political control.

The main strategy of financialization is: extend cheap credit to those with limited access to capital. Those with limited access to capital will swallow the bait and willingly agree to onerous conditions.

Then, when the credit expansion reaches levels that cannot be supported, the lenders demand collateral and/or favorable trade and financial concessions.

These tactics have been well-documented in books such as The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism and Confessions of an Economic Hit Man.

But the economic pillaging of former colonies has limits, and as a consequence the global financial powers developed the Neocolonial Model, which turns these same techniques on one's home region.

Thus Greece and other capital-poor European nations were recognized as the periphery that could be exploited by the core, and the euro was the ideal tool to exploit the economies of nations which could never have generated credit/housing bubbles without the wide-open spigots of cheap credit flooding their economies.

In Neocolonialism, the forces of financialization are used to indenture the local Elites and populace to the financial core: the peripheral "colonials" borrow money to buy the finished goods manufactured in the core economies, enriching the Imperial Elites with A) the profits made selling goods to the debtors B) interest on credit extended to the peripheral colonies to buy the core economies' goods and "live large", and C) the transactional skim of financializing peripheral assets such as real estate and State debt.

In essence, the French and German banks colonized Europe's periphery nations via the financializing euro, which enabled a massive expansion of debt and consumption in the periphery. The banks and exporters of the core extracted enormous profits from the periphery via this expansion of debt and consumption.

The assets and income of the periphery are flowing to the core as interest on the private and sovereign debts that are owed to the core's money-center private banks.

Note how little of the Greek "bailout" actually went to the citizenry of Greece and how much was interest paid to the financial powers. The core has stripped Greece of collateral and political independence, just as the colonial powers of the 19th century stripped the African and Indo-Asian regions of income, assets and political independence.

This is not just the perfection of neocolonialism but of neofeudalism as well. The peripheral nations of the EU are effectively neocolonial debtors of the core, and the taxpayers of the core nations are now feudal serfs whose labor is devoted to making good on any financialization schemes that go bad.

Neocolonialism benefits both the core's financial Aristocracy and the periphery's oligarchies. This is ably demonstrated in the essay Misrule of the Few: How the Oligarchs Ruined Greece.

The EU has finally reached the endgame of the Neocolonial-Financialization Model. There are no more markets to exploit with financialization, no more assets to strip, and the serfs (a.k.a. yellow vests) of the core are tiring of being stripmined in service of the EU kleptocracy.

At this point, the financial Aristocracy has an unsolvable dilemma: writing off defaulted debt also writes off assets and income streams, for every debt is the core's asset and income stream. When all those phantom assets are recognized as worthless, the system implodes.

This exhaustion of the neocolonial-neofeudal model was inevitable and as a result, so too is the decline and fall of the European integration/exploitation project.

Trump threatens to ‘devastate Turkey economically’ if it attacks Kurds amid US withdrawal from Syria

January 14, 2019

Donald Trump has warned its NATO ally to beware of the devastative wrath of US economic pressure if Turkey dares to attack the Kurdish allies America is leaving behind in its “long overdue” pull-out of troops from Syria.

The US military, Trump promised, will still use an “existing nearby base,” apparently in Iraq, to attack the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) militants if the terrorist organization re-emerges in Syria. Using his typical mode of communication to reaffirm the withdrawal of American troops from the ground, the US president warned Ankara against seeing this as an opportunity to stage any military campaign against Syrian Kurds.

“Will devastate Turkey economically if they hit Kurds,” Trump tweeted, urging Ankara to create a “20-mile safe zone.”

At the same time, Trump urged the Kurd-dominated Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which the US trained and armed for years, not to “provoke” Turkey.

In an apparent gesture to save face, following a questionable outcome of four years of uninvited American presence in Syria and an abrupt withdrawal, Trump has once-again credited the US military for destroying IS, disregarding the fact that most of the country was liberated from terrorists by the Syrian army, with the help of the Russian military.

“Russia, Iran and Syria have been the biggest beneficiaries of the long term US policy of destroying ISIS in Syria – natural enemies. We also benefit but it is now time to bring our troops back home. Stop the ENDLESS WARS!” Trump tweeted.

Trump made the decision to withdraw some 2,000 American troops from Syria last month, amid consultations with the Turkish military over their planned operations in Syria. National Security Advisor John Bolton even said that US forces will not leave Syria until Turkey guarantees the safety of the US-backed Kurdish militias.

Turkey, however, remains firmly committed to removing what they call a Kurdish “terrorist” threat coming from the Euphrates River valley, and is actively preparing for a possible cross-border operation. “Our preparation continues intensely,” the Turkish defense minister said Friday.

“We have no problems with our Kurdish brothers, Arab brothers in Syria, Turkmens and other ethnic and religious groups. Our only targets are terrorists Daesh and PKK/YPG,” Hulusi Akar added. Ankara sees the YPG Kurdish fighting units of the SDF as an extension of the outlawed Kurdish PKK movement that for decades has waged an insurgency inside Turkey.

American-Turkish relations are far from tranquil and have frayed in the years following the July 2016 coup attempt against Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, which Ankara believes was masterminded by Fethullah Gulen, who is living in exile in Pennsylvania. Washington and Ankara also sparred over the fate of American Presbyterian minister Andrew Brunson, who was convicted in Turkey of aiding terrorism, and who Ankara was forced to extradite after Trump exerted unprecedented economic pressure.

The bilateral relations have been further aggravated by US threats to halt the transfer of military tech to its NATO ally, including the fifth generation F-35 stealth fighter jets, and even to impose sanctions over Turkey’s commitment to purchase Russian S-400 air defense systems, a diversification of weapons suppliers that enhances its national security.

India to outpace US as world’s 2nd most powerful economy — report

By 2030, seven of the world’s top 10 economies will be current emerging markets, according to the latest report by London-based multinational banking and financial service company Standard Chartered.

The long-term projection shows that India is likely to become larger than the US, while neighboring China will reportedly steal the crown of world’s most powerful economy (currently held by the US) as soon as 2020. At the same time, Indonesia may break into the top five economies.

India will likely be the main mover, with its trend growth accelerating to 7.8 percent by the 2020s partly due to ongoing reforms, including the introduction of a national goods and services tax (GST) and the Indian Bankruptcy Code (IBC),” says the report, as quoted by Quartz.

The GST, one of the largest tax reforms to be implemented by Delhi, was rolled out in 2017. The measure is aimed at simplifying the country’s cumbersome tax regime. The IBC, launched in 2016, consolidates the bankruptcy and insolvency laws in India.

The UK firm noted that the aging population is set to have a significant impact on global growth, but India, which is currently ranked as the world’s sixth biggest economy, will remain unfazed, as the country has the world’s largest group of young people. Nearly half of the Indian population is under the age of 25.

“The rising aspirations of a young population will continue to support consumerism in India’s economy,” according to the report.

Standard Chartered also said that the country would need to create 100 million new jobs in the manufacturing and service sectors by 2030 to cope with demand for massive employment.

“India needs to train circa 10 million people annually, but currently has the capacity to train just 4.5 million,” the report reads.
