As the worlds economic storm continues to deteriorate, at what some see as an alarming rate, there is a palpable fear that has started to permeate the minds of many the world over. When looking over just a very few of the headlines from the past week, one can understand the cause for alarm.

The Crash of 2008, which is now wiping out trillions of dollars of our people's wealth, is, like the Crash of 1929, likely to mark the end of one era and the onset of another. The new era will see a more sober and much diminished America. The "Omnipower" and "Indispensable Nation" we heard about in all the hubris and braggadocio following our Cold War victory is history.

Every so often the human race, or major parts thereof, goes through major life changing events: wars, revolutions, economic crisis/recessions/depressions. It is clear that we are now in one of the largest of such events; that we are in a great vortex and we have not even gone half way into this experience.

Terms like "global financial meltdown", "global financial catastrophe", "World War III", "global depression" are becoming standard in describing where we are and where we are headed.

No one knows what will happen next. We are in uncharted waters.

Through his plan, Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson aims to avert a credit freeze that would bring the financial system and the world's largest economy to a standstill. The bill would prevent courts from reviewing actions taken under its authority.”

I am reminded of a story I heard many years ago. During the era before commercial air travel, travel between Europe and the United States was done through ocean going vessels. On one such trip a ferocious storm came up while out at sea. The storm was so bad that it did actually threaten the ship and its passengers. One of the women passengers on board who was very distraught, went to the captain of the ship and asked; "Oh, Captain, what are we going to do?" He said, "I guess we'll just have to trust the Lord." She then said, "Oh my God! Has it come to that?"

Well my friends, it has come or is coming very soon “to that”. This storm is not an accident; it has been planned for years, and something which God is allowing to happen with His permission. Never forget EPH.6:12 “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Where is all this leading? Eventually, and not long from now, to the rise of the antichrist and the mark of the beast. (See our studies sections for more information regarding the rise of the antichrist and the mark of the beast.)

In the end it is really going to come down to faith in God. There will be those who reject the antichrist and his mark, and those who receive the antichrist and his mark and it will involve the financial system. REV.13:17 “And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”

Have faith in God and His Word. MAT.28:20 “and, lo, I (Jesus) am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.” And where do you get this faith? ROM.10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” God’s word from the Bible and also His word through His prophets today.
