An ancient prophecy romanticised by ISIS militants warns of a battle between an Islamic army and an 'infidel horde' in Syria which will herald the destruction of the world.

The 1,300-year-old hadith, which is a report of the deeds, teachings and sayings of the Prophet Mohammed, refers to the 'horde' flying 80 banners as they take on a Muslim army in the Syrian town of Dabiq.

It warns of a 'malahim' - the equivalent to Armageddon in Christian teachings – in which the Muslims ultimately prevail.

The prophecy is said to be a fundamental part of Islamic State's ideology and is being used to fuel recruitment of jihadists who believe they are on the 'cusp of history'.

ISIS supporters on social media have started comparing recent developments in Syria to the prophecy amid warnings the 'malahim' is coming.

Islamic State fighters are said to have drawn on the prophecy even more so since conquering Dabiq in August and the town's name has become a byword for the struggle against the West.

The terrorist group has even named its official magazine 'Dabiq', in which it pushes its extremist views and reports victories.

Supporters appear to be convinced of the prophecy's validity, with one writing on Twitter: 'Dabiq will happen for certain.

'The U.S. and its allies will descend on Syria once they see that the air campaign has failed. That is a promise by God and his Messenger.'

Another, from Tunisia, wrote. 'The lions of Islam have raised the banner of the Caliphate in Dabiq. Now they await the arrival of the Crusader army.'

Shadi Hamid, a fellow at the Brookings Institute, said the hadith is heavily relied upon by ISIS because it 'raises morale'.

He said: 'It is fair to assume that the vast majority of (ISIS) fighters believe in this type of talk.'

Turkish President Erdogan makes eerie presence at party convention 2014

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called on his countrymen to refocus on the Ottoman goal of re-conquering Jerusalem for Islam and uniting Shia and Sunni tribes for that same mission.

In a speech that got almost no coverage in the Western media, Erdogan talked about invading and reconquering Jerusalem, according to an article in the Anadolu Agency of Turkey.

“We Muslims lost our aim to head towards Jerusalem,” he told throngs of adoring Turks while in the state of Erzincan in central Turkey, according to a translation by Walid Shoebat. “The water of our eyes froze making us blind, and our hearts that was destined to beat for Jerusalem is now instead conditioned for rivalry being in a state of war with each other.”

Erdogan was in the city to promote numerous service projects, but the speech focused on Jerusalem.

“When you mention the word ascension, the first thing that comes to mind is Jerusalem and al-Aqsa Mosque,” he said, referring to the mosque that sits on the Temple Mount.

The Mount is controlled by Arab Muslim Waqf officials, who do not allow Jews to pray except at the Western Wall. But apparently Erdogan is not satisfied with this arrangement. He told his countrymen to ask “Allah to restore the Al-Aqsa Mosque to be re-owned by Muslims.”

Erdogan has ruled Turkey for 13 years, but the increasingly vitriolic nature of his anti-Israel rhetoric proves he has consolidated his power over the less strident Islamist views of Fethullah Gulen, a Turk who operates 120 publicly funded charter schools across the United States, says Joel Richardson, a Christian filmmaker and author of the New York Times-best-seller, “The Islamic Antichrist.”

With Erdogan’s rhetoric coming unhinged, Richardson says the Turkish government led by him and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has essentially become the Turkish wing of the Muslim Brotherhood.

“The old form of moderate Turkish Islam has been defeated,” he said.

“They have become the leaders of the Turkish branch of Muslim Brotherhood, and now that the rhetoric coming out of the leaders of the regime is increasingly becoming identical to the inflammatory statements coming out of Iran and even al-Qaida,” Richardson said.

Richardson said Turkey and Iran are natural enemies, but the views of their respective leaders have converged at a commonplace of darkness – Jew hatred. One represents Shia Islam and the other Sunni, but they agree on one thing: Israel must be removed, cut out like a cancerous tumor.
Both are openly anti-Semitic, but Richardson sees Turkey as Israel’s ultimate enemy. Whereas most Bible prophecy teachers have been warning of a revived Roman empire, Richardson has his eye on the re-emergence of the Ottoman Empire, which crumbed in the aftermath of World War I. It’s a theme he discusses in detail in both of his books, “Islamic Antichrist” and “Mideast Beast,” and in his documentary, “End Times Eyewitness.”

“For years, I’ve been warning of a last days’ revival of the Ottoman Empire, and there’s no question that it continues to move in that direction,” Richardson said.

“This is more than just political rhetoric (by Erdogan). We have to remember that the Ottoman Turks controlled Jerusalem for close to 500 years, and there really is this increasing return of the Ottoman aspirations to control the region once again,” he said. “And that means not only Jerusalem but also Mecca and Medina. They’re pretending to form an alliance with Saudi Arabia against Iran and its nuclear program, but Turkey and Saudi Arabia don’t like each other at all. Much of the Islamic world thinks that the Saudi government is just a creation of Western powers. And the whole monarchy thing has no basis in Islamic law.”

The geopolitical landscape as described in the last days by the Hebrew prophets is coming into focus like never before, Richardson said.

“The prophets Joel, Zachariah and Ezekiel all described the surrounded nations gathering together against Jerusalem in the last days,” he said. “Five years ago, it was inconceivable to think the president of Turkey would be talking about the need for the Turks to regain control of Jerusalem.”

With the Middle East and North Africa rapidly devolving into chaos, Turkey bears watching. As a traditional ally of the United States, it will be given freer rein to maneuver and exploit that chaos. Richardson paints a scenario where Turkey will eventually go to war with Egypt, and those two countries have increasingly been at odds since the Muslim Brotherhood government of Muhammad Morsi was defeated in Egypt.

Saudi Arabia has sparred with Iran in Yemen, Syria remains on fire with civil war, and multiple terrorist groups are vying for control of Libya. Erdogan sees all this and believes this state of war has clouded the vision of Muslims from their true aspiration of marching on Jerusalem.

The Turkish president called on citizens to “raise their hands in supplication for this blessed night toward Allah to restore the Al-Aqsa Mosque [Jerusalem] to be re-owned by Muslims, and to remove the mist from their eyes, to see Jerusalem in their hands at every moment and at every opportunity.”

Erdogan has compared himself to Tariq Bin Ziad, who conquered Spain, Alp Arslan and Saladin.

“These are the Muslim leaders who fought Christendom, and Saladin was the one who conquered Jerusalem,” noted the blog Israel, Islam and the End Times. “He wants to declare war on the strongest fortresses to advance his foreign God, Allah, through warfare.”

“Khalifat (Caliph) literally is one who rules the world and now Erdogan wants to fulfill Zechariah 12 and 14 where Jerusalem becomes the ‘cup of trembling’ to ‘all surrounding nations’ when they storm against Jerusalem to annihilate all Israel.”

Israel’s new deputy foreign minister on Thursday delivered a defiant message to the international community, saying that Israel owes no apologies for its policies in the Holy Land and citing religious texts to back her belief that it belongs to the Jewish people.

The speech by Tzipi Hotovely illustrated the influence of hardliners in Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s new government, and the challenges he will face as he tries to persuade the world that he is serious about pursuing peace with the Palestinians.

Hotovely, 36, is among a generation of young hardliners in Netanyahu’s Likud party who support West Bank settlement construction and oppose ceding captured land to the Palestinians. Since Netanyahu has a slim one-seat majority in parliament, these lawmakers could complicate any attempt to revive peace talks.

With Netanyahu also serving as the acting foreign minister, Hotovely is currently the country’s top full-time diplomat.

In an inaugural address to Israeli diplomats, Hotovely said Israel has tried too hard to appease the world and must stand up for itself.

“We need to return to the basic truth of our rights to this country,” she said. “This land is ours. All of it is ours. We did not come here to apologise for that.”

Hotovely, an Orthodox Jew, laced her speech with biblical commentaries in which God promised the land of Israel to the Jews. Speaking later in English, she signalled that she would try to rally global recognition for West Bank settlements, which are widely opposed.

“We expect as a matter of principle of the international community to recognise Israel’s right to build homes for Jews in their homeland, everywhere,” she said.

Hotovely will manage the ministry’s day-to-day functions, but Netanyahu will remain in charge of foreign policy.

During the recent election campaign, Netanyahu angered his western allies by saying he would not permit the establishment of a Palestinian state on his watch. On Wednesday he told the visiting EU foreign policy chief that he remains committed to a two-state solution.

Netanyahu’s spokesman, Mark Regev, declined comment on Hotovely’s speech, but said Netanyahu’s statements Wednesday reflected his policy.

The Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) claims it has access to nuclear weapons through the nation of Pakistan, according to an article by longtime ISIS captive John Cantlie in the latest issue of their official magazine, Dabiq.

In “The Perfect Storm,” allegedly penned by the British Cantlie, the group asserts that they possess billions, enough to buy a nuclear bomb “’from weapons dealers with links to corrupt officials’ in Pakistan.” If they cannot buy the weapon, Cantlie writes, the group would be satisfied with buying a “few thousand tons of ammonium nitrate explosive.”

“Let me throw a hypothetical operation onto the table,” Cantlie allegedly writes. “The Islamic State has billions of dollars in the bank, so they call on their wilāyah in Pakistan to purchase a nuclear device through weapons dealers with links to corrupt officials in the region. It’s the sum of all fears for Western intelligence agencies and it’s infinitely more possible today than it was just one year ago.

“And if not a nuke, what about a few thousand tons of ammonium nitrate explosive? That’s easy enough to make.”

Analysts believe the black-market sales of artifacts and antiques have generated billions for the Islamic State. The militants have destroyed dozens of ancient shrines, churches, and museums, claiming that they promote idolatry. But people within cities tell media outlets these same militants ransack the places of their priceless items to sell on the black market. The terrorist group also forces people within their caliphate to pay enormous fines and taxes. When they captured Mosul, Iraq’s second-largest city, they told the Christians to leave, convert to Islam, or pay a protection tax (jizya).

“They’ll [Isis] be looking to do something big, something that would make any past operation look like a squirrel shoot, and the more groups that pledge allegiance the more possible it becomes to pull off something truly epic,” continued the article. “Remember, all of this has happened in less than a year. How more dangerous will be the lines of communication and supply a year on from today?”

There is no way to confirm that Cantlie wrote the text of the article. ISIS kidnapped the British photojournalist two years ago. He has appeared in many propaganda videos, mainly those intended to show Muslims in the West that life in the Islamic State is normal, if not better, than life for Muslims in the West. The latest video was about Aleppo, Syria, to portray the city “as functional and productive.” However, Cantlie said this video was the last in his series. The militant group did not comment on the video or release any information as to whether Cantlie is still alive.

US did nothing to stop Ramadi fall to ISIL: Commander Soleimani

Iranian commander Major General Qassem Soleimani has slammed the United States over the recent fall of the Iraqi city of Ramadi to the Takfiri ISIL terrorist group.

Soleimani, who is the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps’ Quds Force, said that while the Ain al-Asad air base hosting US fighter jets was very close to Ramadi, the American military forces took no action to stop the ISIL militants fighting to take over the Iraqi city.

“This is not but complicity in [a] conspiracy,” he said during a Sunday gathering of the veterans of the eight-year Iraqi-imposed war against Iran in the southeastern Iranian city of Kerman.

“There is no will to fight the ISIL,” Soleimani said in a reference to the US-led coalition that purports to be targeting ISIL targets inside Iraq and Syria.

He also described the ISIL terror group as a “great plague,” which should be countered.

The group, whose members slaughter human beings in cold blood while chanting religious slogans, is a big threat, he said.

On May 17, the ISIL militants managed to bring Ramadi under their control.

The Popular Mobilization forces, one of the volunteer groups who have joined the Iraqi army, were dispatched to Anbar after Iraq’s Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi called on them to join the fight to drive the Takfiri militants out of Ramadi.

Adrian Edwards, a spokesman for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), said on Friday that around 55,000 people had fled Ramadi since mid-May.

Iraq’s former national security advisor told Press TV on Sunday that most US fighter jets deployed to bomb terrorists in the Arab country return to their bases without engaging terrorist positions.

Mowaffak al-Rubaie sharply criticized the US-led airstrikes against the ISIL as ineffective, saying, "from where I sit in Baghdad, eight out of each 10" aircraft loaded with ammunition return to their bases without striking their targets.

Elsewhere in his remarks, General Soleimani said, “Today, no one stands to take up the fight against this dangerous phenomenon (ISIL) but the Islamic Republic.”

Since August 2014, the US and some of its allies have been conducting airstrikes against what they say are ISIL positions in Iraq. Some members of the US-led coalition also started bombarding ‘ISIL targets’ inside Syria in September last year without any authorization from Damascus or a UN mandate.

This is while many of the countries joining the so-called anti-terror coalition, such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar, have been the staunch supporters of the Takfiri elements.

The ISIL terrorists currently control swathes of territory across Syria and Iraq. They have committed terrible atrocities in both countries, including mass executions and beheading of local residents as well as foreign nationals.

Billy Graham’s Daughter: ‘The Day of the Lord is Near,’ God is ‘Warning America,’ We’re in the ‘Last’ Generation

Anne Graham Lotz, an evangelical preacher, author, and the daughter of pastor Billy Graham, said “the day of the Lord is near,” which is a “time of judgment,” and that God is specifically “warning America.” She added that people must pray for repentance and mercy because, she believes, this is the “last” generation.

“The message was very clear to me and it was that the day of the Lord is near,” said Anne Graham Lotz in a May 20 skype interview with CBN News. She was commenting on a scripture-teaching she had given about the prophetic book of Joel in the Old Testament, an experience that also prompted her to call on Americans to pray for our nation May 15-23, between Ascension and Pentecost.

“That’s the theme of the book of Joel,” she said.  “The day of the Lord is a time of judgment. It’s a time when God’s patience runs out. It’s a day of reckoning. And I felt that God was saying that the day of the Lord is near, and I felt specifically he was warning America.”

And “when the message comes through that the day of the Lord is near, we are to cry out, rend our hearts, which is a deep repentance,” said Anne Graham Lotz, the author of 11 books, including the critically acclaimed Just Give Me Jesus.

“If we cry out and rend our hearts, there is the possibility that instead of bringing judgment, He would leave behind a blessing,” said Graham Lotz, adding that this is what led her to call for the Mayday! Mayday! prayers in May.

When asked by CBN News host Lorie Johnson about warnings from God such as natural disasters and terrorism and whether the Christian church “is getting the message,” Graham Lotz said she did not know and noted that some pastors say these dramatic events “have always happened,” and they “get a little irritated with people like me who try to sound the alarm or blow the trumpet.”

But there is difference, she said, in that “what we’re seeing today is increasing in frequency and increasing in intensity. Jesus said in Matthew 24 that when there’s one generation that includes the Gospel being preached to the whole world, includes the re-birth of the nation of Israel, and all the signs that He gives – and the signs that He gives, he says, are like birth pangs.”

She continued, “the birth pangs, the signs that Jesus gives, whether it’s in the environmental world, or our national world, the wars and rumors of wars, or the persecution of Christians, the persecution of Jews.”

“When we see that ratcheting up, increasing in frequency and in intensity in the same generation that sees the Gospel being preached to the whole world and Israel reborn as a nation, that’s the generation that’s the last,” said Anne Graham Lotz, who was born in 1948, the year in which the modern state of Israel was established.

“I believe, with deep conviction, that it’s my generation,” said Graham Lotz, who holds six honorary doctorates. “I was born the same – just a week – apart from the time when Israel was reborn as a nation, we’re the same age.”

“I believe that in my lifetime, if I live out my natural lifetime, I believe I will live to see the return of Jesus in the rapture when he comes back to take us to be with Himself, which means preceding that there are going to be some signs, there are going to be some warnings,” she said.

“And like the Israelites in Egypt when God sent the 10 plagues on Egypt and forced Pharaoh to let His children go,” she said, the Israelites also suffered under some of the plagues.

“They still came under some of the judgment,” said Anne Graham Lotz. “So before Jesus comes back, He may allow the church to go through some judgment because it purifies us. It helps us get our priorities straight and increases our focus and also our compulsion, I think, to share the Gospel with the people around us.”

And prayer is the only response to the problems today, stressed the evangelist, who is the founder and president of AnGeL Ministries.

“I don’t think the answer is in Washington, I don’t think it’s in our economy, I don’t think it’s in our military,” said Anne Graham Lotz. “Only God can solve the problems we face today. And the world is not going to turn to God. It’s up to God’s people to stand in the gap.”

“God’s people who are called in God’s name, if they will pray and humble themselves and seek His face and turn from our wicked ways, then He’ll hear our prayer, He’ll forgive our sin and God will bless America,” she said. “So I think the blessing on America is directly related to God’s people getting their act together.”

Anne Graham Lotz then referenced Romans 1, explaining that when people reject God, He backs away and “allows us to be subjected to things that He’s been protecting us from for hundreds of years in this country,” and that if people do not repent, He furthers the judgment.”

“The implied truth is that if we would repent, if we would turn to Him, He would stay His hand of judgment,” she said. “So my prayer for Mayday! is that as a result of our prayer, standing in the gap for our nation, that God will either delay His judgment or soften His judgment or perhaps not judge us at all but leave behind a blessing.”

Anne Graham Lotz then explained how people could learn about the prayers and goals of Mayday! at its website, stressing that “we’re not collecting email addresses [and] not asking for money.” The prayers for each day will be sent to those who who want them, and there is also an audio version of each day’s prayer and a video clip about the prophetic teaching in the book of Joel.

“The whole thing is geared to bring people into the presence of God and to really not only intercede for our nation but intercede for the church, intercede for ourselves, and pray that God will bless America once again,” Anne Graham Lotz told CBN News.

Fox network launching new TV series that glorifies Lucifer; marketed with pro-Satan tweets

(NaturalNews) The more subtle side of satanism in Hollywood entertainment is now a thing of the past, as primetime television airs blatantly evil shows like the upcoming Fox drama Lucifer, which glorifies the goings about of the "lord of hell" after he fictitiously leaves the lake of fire and retires to Los Angeles.

The premise behind the absurd drama, which is set to release in 2016, centers around so-called "Lucifer Morningstar" and his new life as the owner of Lux, an upscale nightclub located in the City of Angels.

A trailer for the show portrays Lucifer as a handsome, British-accented, well-to-do ladykiller full of charm and wit.

The real-life Lucifer, of course, wouldn't have things any other way, being the "father of lies" and all. Based on the show's trailer, the Lucifer character will be offered up to the masses who watch Fox as a likable character with moral and ethical convictions, fulfilling the biblical account of this insidious demonic entity.

Described as the wisest creature that God ever created, Lucifer is said to be "full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty" -- that is, before he was cut down and destroyed by his Creator for elevating himself in place of God. Isaiah 14:12 of the Holy Bible describes Lucifer as having "fallen from heaven" due to his sin, only to henceforth become what John 8:44 describes as the "father of lies."

It's only fitting, then, that this modern-day show produced by satanists would portray Lucifer as a type of benevolent god, since this was always his goal -- to take the place of the real God. Whether you believe what the Bible says or not, this is the clear-as-day implication of this upcoming show that will soon be watched by presumably millions of people.

One "tweet" posted to Twitter regarding the Lucifer show, as covered by Fox, reads: "I'm on board for #Lucifer," showing how easily deceived the public is when it comes to embracing evil.

"In something of a departure for badness personified, Lucifer makes nice with humans, and ends up helping a homicide detective try to find the killer of one of his new friends," reads a description by The Verge of how the Lucifer show will play itself out.

The masses are increasingly obsessed with evil, so why not make a show glorifying Satan?

Perhaps this premise of portraying evil as good and good as evil isn't so unusual after all, though. Modern society does this all the time with politicians, CEOs, celebrities, media-obsessed "humanitarians" and many others who are glorified in the limelight as they secretly perform all kinds of evil in the shadows.

Politicians, both Republican and Democrat alike, are a perfect example of this. Clad in tailored suits and plastered smiles, these phonies parade themselves around as champions of the people while quietly accepting bribes from special interests. Many of them are blatant liars, of course, and yet the people keep voting for them.

But as the saying goes, every country has the government it deserves, and perhaps American society's growing obsession with demons, vampires, werewolves and other satanic entities is exactly why evil has become a no-holds-barred pastime for millions of Americans. Just look at all the other television shows, movies and music videos out there that pay homage to "the lightbearer," a.k.a. Lucifer.

A senior NATO official told former NSA intelligence analyst John Schindler that the world would “probably be at war” sometime this summer.

“We’ll probably be at war this summer, if we’re lucky it won’t be nuclear,” the official told Schindler last week.

Although the tweet was retweeted over 400 times, the comment garnered no mainstream media attention whatsoever, which is odd given that Schindler is a former U.S. Naval War College lecturer and is known to have many high level military contacts.

Although not specified, the reference was almost certainly in relation to growing tensions between the United States and Russia.

One analysis of the comment suggests it may have been a “deliberate “leak” from NATO sources, to emphasize how serious the situation is.”

Earlier this month NATO launched its biggest ever wargame exercise on Russia’s doorstep. Moscow responded by conducting “provocative” wargames in the Mediterranean Sea in coordination with the Chinese PLA, the first ever naval drill involving both superpowers.

NATO powers are also taking part in one of Europe’s largest ever fighter jet drills from today, with the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Finland, Norway and Sweden all involved in the 12 day exercise.

Tensions are also building between the U.S. and China, with The Global Times, a state media outlet owned by the ruling Communist Party, today warning that “war is inevitable” if Washington doesn’t halt its demands that Beijing stop building artificial islands in the South China Sea.

“If the United States’ bottom line is that China has to halt its activities, then a U.S.-China war is inevitable in the South China Sea,” the newspaper said. “The intensity of the conflict will be higher than what people usually think of as ‘friction’.”

Last week, CNN revealed how China’s Navy has repeatedly issued warnings to U.S. surveillance planes flying over the South China Sea.

Billionaire investor George Soros also cautioned last week that the planet was heading towards a third world war as a result of a potential economic collapse in China.

Noting that Beijing may need to rally its population around an external threat to avoid an internal collapse, Soros said that, “there is a real danger that China will align itself with Russia politically and militarily, and then the threat of third world war becomes real.”

In a People’s Daily editorial last September, Chinese PLA Professor Han Xudong also warned that Beijing should prepare itself for a third world war which could arise out of the conflict between the United States and Russia over Ukraine.

This October may see the beginning of the end for the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency. Twice every decade the International Monetary Fund meets to discuss their Special Drawing Rights (SDR) currency basket. Currently comprised of the dollar, Japanese Yen, British Pound and Euro, if China has their way a few months from now, we may well see the Chinese Yuan take its place among the world’s most trusted currencies.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew says, “China isn’t ready for currency reserve status,” and would certainly like to see the Chinese blocked from entry, preserving the dollar’s status as the world’s go-to currency and primary mechanism of exchange for global international trade.

But while Lew and his predecessors have presided over the largest growth in national debt in world history, the Chinese have been strategically positioning, much like the United States did in the early 1900’s, to not just become the world’s largest economy, but to be the super power of the 21st century.

Forget for a moment what’s being touted by analysts, forecasters, politicians, and financial officials who say China is not ready. Focus instead on the actions being undertaken by China and you’ll understand why Chinese President Hu Jintao says that the dollar is a product of the past.

The world has an unease about the dollar system… President Hu of China said ‘the dollar is a product of the past.’

There was a time when the U.S. dollar was backed by gold. This backing helped to solidify it as a currency that could be trusted on the open market. Today, however, for all intents and purposes, the dollar is backed by absolutely nothing.

It is this weakness that the Chinese aim to exploit and that’s why they have been actively stockpiling thousands of tons of gold in recent years. But this is only part of the story.

In addition to their physical gold holdings, the Chinese have been using a secret gold accumulation strategy that no one is talking about :

The headlines for gold these past few years have only focused on physical gold accumulation by China, Russia and Eastern central banks. But what they have missed is a 7,000 year-old strategy that China is doubling down on.

According to data compiled by Bloomberg, in 2013 asset purchases by Hong Kong and [Chinese] mainland miners increased to a record $2.2 billion.

China is buying gold mines at a record… something completely missed by both, the mainstream investor and even the gold analysts who tend to only focus on the bullion sales, which haven’t been disclosed officially since 2009.

Although, according to Bloomberg, based on trade data the physical bullion stockpile has likely tripled since then.

China, who is aggressively buying gold, would spark an event if it disclosed how much gold it has stockpiled.

But imagine the true disclosure when you add up all their deposits… not just in China, but offshore. $2.2 billion is equivalent to 46 metric tons of physical gold… but when buying gold deposits in the ground this could be upwards of 5,000 metric tons.

And that is just one year of record mine buying from China.

It’s been rumored that China may disclose those gold holdings ahead of the IMF’s decision this October in an effort to prove to the world that their currency is not only worthy of admission into the SDR basket, but that it is more trustworthy than the U.S. dollar itself.

The winds of change are blowing and the Chinese will soon be taking the helm of the global economy. They know a major event is coming and they have been preparing for it by acquiring the one asset that has survived the test of time as a mechanism of exchange.

France is making it illegal for large supermarkets to throw away edible food as part of a series of measures to cut down on waste.

The country’s National Assembly unanimously voted in new laws on Thursday night that will force chains to donate discarded food to charity or allow it to be turned into animal feed, compost or energy.

Guillaume Garot, a Socialist politician who sponsored the bill, said: “It’s scandalous to see bleach being poured into supermarket dustbins along with edible foods.”

France is trying to cut down on food waste

British supermarkets have also been known to destroy out-of-date food in industrial bins with chemicals, a practice that is now illegal across the Channel. Any shops larger than 400 square metres must sign a contract with a charity to donate edible products.

The French government is working towards its target of halving food waste by 2025 and is also putting the issue on the school curriculum, L'Express reported.

The move has been welcomed by environmental groups, charities and food organisations, while campaigners are calling for similar laws around the world.

There have been several attempted prosecutions in the UK in recent years for people taking discarded food from supermarket bins, including freegans, students and parents.

A case against three men who took food worth £33 from an Iceland bin in London was dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service last year after it was found not to be “in the public interest”.

Kit Carson

Fur trapper, Indian agent and soldier was Kit Carson. His exploits west of the Mississippi were as famous as Daniel Boone’s east.

Kit Carson’s father fought in the Revolutionary War, then moved with his family from Kentucky to a tract of land in Missouri owned by Daniel Boone’s sons. At age 16, Kit Carson followed the Santa Fe Trail to Taos, New Mexico, which was the capital of the fur trade in the Southwest. He stayed with a friend who had served with Carson’s older brothers in the War of 1812. Learning the skills of a fur trapper, Kit Carson became fluent in speaking: Spanish, Navajo, Apache, Cheyenne, Arapaho, Paiute, Shoshone and Ute.

Francis Parkman, Jr., wrote in “The Oregon Trail” (1849): “The buffalo are strange animals … in order to approach them the utmost skill, experience, and judgment are necessary. Kit Carson, I believe, stands preeminent in running buffalo.”

In 1835, at the age of 25, Carson went to the annual mountain man rendezvous in Wyoming, where he met an Arapaho girl named Waa-Nibe or “Singing Grass.” After winning a gun fight over her with a French-Canadian trapper, he married her. Kit and Singing Grass worked with the Hudson’s Bay Company, and the renowned frontiersman Jim Bridger.

They trapped beaver along the Yellowstone, Powder and Big Horn rivers, throughout Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho and Montana. Carson considered these years as “the happiest days of my life.” Singing Grass died of a fever after giving birth to their second daughter.

The trapping of beaver drove the exploration of the west. It was fueled by demand for beaver top hats popular in eastern America and Europe. Around 1840, silk from China allowed hats to be made less expensively and the demand for beaver ceased.

In 1841, Kit Carson married a Cheyenne woman, but she left him to follow her tribe’s migration. In 1842, Carson met the daughter of a prominent Taos family, Josefa Jaramillo. He received religious instruction from Padre Antonio José Martínez, was baptized, married Josefa and together they had eight children.

Kit Carson led John C. Frémont on expeditions across the South Pass on the Continental Divide which “touched off a wave of wagon caravans filled with hopeful emigrants.”

Carson led Frémont to map the second half of the Oregon Trail, from South Pass to the Columbia River, traveling along the Great Salt Lake into Oregon. They came within sight of Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Hood and ventured into Mexican territory, where Carson’s wilderness skills averted mass starvation in the Sierra Nevadas. Traveling across the Mojave Desert, they arrived at a watering hole called Las Vegas (Spanish for “the meadows”).

When Congress published Frémont’s reports in 1845, Carson’s reputation as a frontiersman Indian fighter inspired writers to use him as the hero in dime novels.

In 1846, Carson accompanied Frémont to California. Carson participated in several battles which led to California being brought into the Union as the 31st state. He even once courageously slipped through a siege at night and ran 25 miles barefoot through the desert to San Diego for reinforcements.

General Sherman wrote of meeting Kit Carson in “The Memoirs of General William T. Sherman”: “As the spring and summer of 1848 advanced, the reports came faster and faster from the gold-mines at Sutter’s saw-mill. … It was our duty to go up and see with our own eyes, that we might report the truth to our Government. As yet we had no regular mail to any part of the United States, but mails had come to us at long intervals, around Cape Horn. …”

Sherman continued: “I well remember the first overland mail. It was brought by Kit Carson in saddle-bags from Taos in New Mexico. We heard of his arrival at Los Angeles, and waited patiently for his arrival at headquarters. His fame then was at its height, from the publication of Frémont’s books, and I was very anxious to see a man who had achieved such feats of daring among the wild animals of the Rocky Mountains, and still wilder Indians of the Plains.

“At last his arrival was reported at the tavern at Monterey, and I hurried to hunt him up. I cannot express my surprise at beholding a small, stoop-shouldered man, with reddish hair, freckled face, soft blue eyes, and nothing to indicate extraordinary courage or daring. He spoke but little, and answered questions in monosyllables. …”

Sherman added: “He spent some days in Monterey, during which time we extracted with difficulty some items of his personal history. He was then by commission a lieutenant in the regiment of Mounted Rifles serving in Mexico under Colonel Sumner, and, as he could not reach his regiment from California, Colonel Mason ordered that for a time he should be assigned to duty with A.J. Smith’s company, First Dragoons, at Los Angeles. He remained at Los Angeles some months, and was then sent back to the United Staten with dispatches, traveling two thousand miles almost alone, in preference to being encumbered by a large party.”

During the Civil War, Kit Carson was a scout for the Union Army which was carrying out a federal mandate of subduing the west. When General James Carleton and Colonel Chivington used severe tactics against the Indians, Carson objected and sent a letter of resignation, Feb. 3, 1863, but General Carleton refused it.

Kit Carson’s fame was such that “Buffalo Bill” Cody named his son after him, as his sister Helen Cody Wetmore wrote in “Last of the Great Scouts – The Life Story of Col. William F. Cody ‘Buffalo Bill’”: “The first boy of the family was the object of the undivided interest of the outpost for a time, and names by the dozen were suggested. Major North offered ‘Kit Carson’ as an appropriate name for the son of a great scout and buffalo-hunter, and this was finally settled on.”

Helen Cody Wetmore described “Buffalo Bill”: “He may fitly be named the ‘Last of the Great Scouts.’ He has had great predecessors. The mantle of Kit Carson has fallen upon his shoulders, and he wears it worthily.”

Buffalo once roamed the western plains, numbering in the millions, and were hunted for blankets, meat and leather. When railroads began moving west, buffalo were shot by the thousands to clear the way for the tracks. Then the federal government adopted a policy of killing off buffalo to force plains Indians onto reservations.

A bill to protect buffalo was introduced in the Texas Legislature in 1875, but U.S. General Philip Sheridan retorted (John Cook, 164): “They are destroying the Indians’ commissary. And it is a well known fact that an army losing its base of supplies is placed at a great disadvantage. … For a lasting peace, let them kill, skin, and sell until the buffaloes are exterminated … as it is the only way to bring lasting peace and allow civilization to advance.”

As herds were slaughtered, Indian hostilities increased. The federal government made treaties with Indians which were often ignored if gold, oil or other valuable minerals were found. Corrupt politicians even profited by taking Indian lands in crony insider deals, such as the Teapot Dome scandal.

Sympathetic, Kit Carson was appointed superintendent of Indian Affairs in Colorado, January of 1868. With difficulty breathing, he brought Ute Indian chiefs to Washington, D.C., to arrange a treaty. Traveling through northern cities, they met crowds and posed for pictures with western military notables General James Carleton and Former California Governor John C. Frémont.

While staying with the Indian chiefs at New York City’s Metropolitan Hotel, Kit Carson almost died. He wrote: “I felt my head swell and my breath leaving me. Then, I woke … my face and head all wet. I was on the floor and the chief was holding my head on his arm and putting water on me. He was crying. He said, ‘I thought you were dead. You called on your Lord Jesus, then shut your eyes and couldn’t speak.’ I did not know that I spoke. … I do not know that I called on the Lord Jesus, but I might – it’s only Him that can help me where I now stand. …”

Kit Carson ended: “My wife must see me. If I was to write about this, or died out here, it would kill her. I must get home.”

Carson successfully arranged the treaty, as President Andrew Johnson wrote: “I herewith lay before the Senate … a treaty made on the 2d day of March, 1868, by and between Nathaniel G. Taylor, Commissioner of Indian Affairs; Alexander C. Hunt, governor and ex officio superintendent of Indian affairs of Colorado Territory, and Kit Carson, on the part of the United States, and the representatives of the Tabeguache, Muaehe, Capote, Weeminuche, Yampa, Grand River, and Uintah bands of Ute Indians.”

Carson returned to Taos, New Mexio, but unfortunately, his wife Josefa soon died from complications after giving birth to their eighth child. A month later, Kit Carson died of an abdominal aortic aneurysm on May 23, 1868, at the age of 58. He was buried next to his wife. His last words were: “Adios compadres” (Spanish for “Goodbye friends”).
