Greetings. Once again we are going to cover a few news events we thought may be of interest to you. They concern religion, video games, and once again the crash of the worlds economic system.
Let us begin with a very recent decision made by the Roman Catholic Church. Before we start lets give a few statistics concerning the Catholic Church.

The Roman Catholic Church, officially known as the Catholic Church, is the world's largest Christian church, representing over half of all Christians and one-sixth of the world's population. Church membership in 2007 was 1.131 billion people. It is the largest organized body of any world religion.
As of February 11, 2009, the Vatican issued a statement saying, "The Vatican has admitted that Charles Darwin was on the right track when he claimed that Man descended from apes." (Complete article below.) This means over one billion Catholics are now free to choose the course of evolution, rather than creation. You can understand why Jesus said in Luke 18:8, " When the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?" The Bible of course tells of man's beginnings, as is well known. "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."(Genesis 2:7)
What is generally not as well known is that, to refute that God made man out of the dust of the earth is to question the very divinity of Jesus Christ. Jesus was truth. He said, "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life". (John 14:6) Jesus referred to God's creation of Adam and Eve as an historical fact. "He (Jesus) answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female." (Matthew 19:4) "But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female." (Mark 10:6) From the beginning of creation, not after millions of years of the evolutionary process. Also if you look at the book of Luke chapter 3 verses 23-38 Jesus' lineage is traced all the way back to Adam.
As brought out in a previous editorial, we live in an age of great deception. The greatest deception mankind has ever known. We are reminded of three more verses out of 1 and 2 Timothy and 2 Peter; " Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. They shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty."
Galatians 1:8 states: "Though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." Thank God for John 10:4-5; "When he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers."
God's true sheep will recognize God's true voice from the stranger and will not follow the stranger. Thank God.
The evolutionists, who like to think of themselves as so liberal minded, always fail to point out Darwin's and other well known evolutionists thinking on women and blacks.
"Darwin reasoned that as a married man he would be a "poor slave, . . . worse than a Negro," but then reminisces that, "one cannot live the solitary life, with groggy old age, friendless ... and childless staring in one's face...." Darwin concludes his discussion on the philosophical note, "there is many a happy slave" and shortly thereafter, married."
"Carl Vogt, a University of Geneva natural history professor who accepted many of "the conclusions of England's great modern naturalist, Charles Darwin," argued that "the child, the female, and the senile white" all had the intellect and nature of the "grown up Negro". Many of Darwin's followers accepted this reasoning, including George Romanes, who concluded that evolution caused females to become, as Kevles postulated:. . . increasingly less cerebral and more emotional. Romanes . . . shared Darwin's view that females were less highly evolved than males ideas which he articulated in several books and many articles that influenced a generation of biologists."
Darwin believed that "unchecked female militancy threatened to produce a perturbance of the races" and to "divert the orderly process of evolution".
Further, some of the traits of women "are characteristic of the lower races, and anti therefore of a past and lower state of civilization". In summary, Darwin concludes that men attain,. . . a higher eminence, in whatever he takes up, than can women--whether requiring deep thought, reason, or imagination, or merely the use of the senses and hands. If two lists were made of the most eminent men and women in poetry, painting, sculpture, music (inclusive of both composition and performance), history, science, and philosophy, with half-a-dozen names under each subject, the two lists would not bear comparison. We may also infer, from the law of the deviation from averages, so well illustrated by Mr. Galton, in his work on "Hereditary Genius" that . . . the average of mental power in man must be above that of women.
The eminent evolutionist, Topinard, concluded that men were superior because they fought to protect both themselves and their wives and their families. Further, Topinard taught that males have all of the responsibility and the cares of tomorrow [and are] . . . constantly active in combating the environment and human rivals, and thus need] . . . more brains than the woman whom he must protect and nourish . . . the sedentary women, lacking any interior occupations, whose role is to raise children, love, and be passive.
The thunder of the field of social psychology and a pioneer in the collective behavior field was Gustave Le Bon (1841-1931). This scientist, whose classic study of crowd behavior (The Crowd; 1895) is familiar to every social science student, wrote that even in:. . . the most intelligent races . . . are a large number of women whose brains are closer in size to those of gorillas than to the most developed male brains. This inferiority is so obvious that no one can contest it for a moment; only its degree is worth discussion. . . . Women . . . represent the most inferior forms of human evolution and . . . are closer to children and savages than to an adult, civilized man. They excel in fickleness, inconsistency, absence of thought and logic, and incapacity to reason. Without a doubt there exist some distinguished women, very superior to the average man but they are as exceptional as the birth of any monstrosity, as, for example, of a gorilla with two heads; consequently, we may neglect them entirely.
Gould claims that there were actually "few egalitarian scientists" at this time. Almost all believed that "Negroes and women" were intellectually inferior.

Vatican buries the hatchet with Charles Darwin

The Vatican has admitted that Charles Darwin was on the right track when he claimed that Man descended from apes.
A leading official declared yesterday that Darwin's theory of evolution was compatible with Christian faith, and could even be traced to St Augustine and St Thomas Aquinas. "In fact, what we mean by evolution is the world as created by God," said Archbishop Gianfranco Ravasi, head of the Pontifical Council for Culture. The Vatican also dealt the final blow to speculation that Pope Benedict XVI might be prepared to endorse the theory of Intelligent Design, whose advocates credit a "higher power" for the complexities of life.
Organisers of a papal-backed conference next month marking the 150th anniversary of Darwin's On the Origin of Species said that at first it had even been proposed to ban Intelligent Design from the event, as "poor theology and poor science". Intelligent Design would be discussed at the fringes of the conference at the Pontifical Gregorian University, but merely as a "cultural phenomenon", rather than a scientific or theological issue, organisers said.
The conference is seen as a landmark in relations between faith and science. Three years ago advocates of Intelligent Design seized on the Pope's reference to an "intelligent project" as proof that he favoured their views.
Conceding that the Church had been hostile to Darwin because his theory appeared to conflict with the account of creation in Genesis, Archbishop Ravasi argued yesterday that biological evolution and the Christian view of Creation were complementary.
Marc Leclerc, who teaches natural philosophy at the Gregorian University, said that no scholar could "remain indifferent" to the 200th anniversary of Darwin's birth tomorrow. There was, however, "no question of celebrating" it.
The Vatican would "take the measure of an event, which has left its mark for ever on the history of science and has influenced the way we understand our humanity". The "time has come for a rigorous and objective valuation" of Darwin by the Church, he said.
Professor Leclerc said that too many opponents of Darwin – above all Creationists – had mistakenly claimed that his theories were "totally incompatible with a religious vision of reality", as did proponents of Intelligent Design.
Darwin's theories had never been formally condemned by the Roman Catholic Church, Monsignor Ravasi insisted. His rehabilitation had begun as long ago as 1950, when Pius XII described evolution as a valid scientific approach to the development of humans. In 1996 John Paul II said that it was "more than a hypothesis".
Father Giuseppe Tanzella-Nitti, Professor of Theology at the Pontifical Santa Croce University in Rome, said that Darwin had been anticipated by St Augustine of Hippo. The 4th-century theologian had "never heard the term evolution, but knew that big fish eat smaller fish" and that forms of life had been transformed "slowly over time". Aquinas had made similar observations in the Middle Ages, he added.
He said it was time that theologians as well as scientists grappled with the mysteries of genetic codes and "whether the diversification of life forms is the result of competition or cooperation between species". As for the origins of Man, although we shared 97 per cent of our "genetic inheritance" with apes, the remaining 3 per cent "is what makes us unique", including religion.
"I maintain that the idea of evolution has a place in Christian theology," Professor Tanzella-Nitti added.
Creationism remains powerful in the US, however, notably among Protestants, and its followers object to evolution being taught in state schools.
The Church of England is seeking to bring Darwin back into the fold with a page on its website paying tribute to his "forgotten" work in his local parish, to illustrate how science and Church need not be at odds. Several pages celebrate Darwin's "significant scientific progress" to mark his bicentenary and also the 150th anniversary of On the Origin of Species.
The Church wants to correct the impression that Darwin's relationship with Anglicanism was contentious. The Anglican Church as a whole did not condemn Darwin or his beliefs. It says that although he lost his faith, he did not become antiChurch or antireligious.

After reading the next article we had to create a new category on our computer under news articles which we labelled "sick". If you are somewhat squeamish you may want to consider skipping this next article. It concerns a Japanese company called "Illusion" which has developed a game called "RapeLay".
When reading about this game we were reminded of Proverbs 14:9; "Fools make a mock at sin". Sometimes you wonder just how much worse things can get. The Bible says in the last days " Evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived". (2 Timothy 3:13)
Jesus told us in Matthew 24:37; "As the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be". What were the days of Noah like? One of the distinguishing signs of the days of Noah was, "The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence". (Genesis 6:11)

On the first level of the "rape simulator game," gamers stalk a young mother at a subway station and violently assault her, London's Independent reports. After finishing with the woman, they rape her two virgin daughters.</P>

According to descriptions, gamers may invite other male characters to join a gang-rape scenario. Pregnancy and abortion are "key features," and characters are punished if they decide to keep a baby.</P>

<P ALIGN=LEFT>RT: How would you define the economic trend that you have forecasted for 2009?</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>G.C.: We're going to see the economic collapse the likes of which the world has never seen before. It's not only in the United States; it's going global. At the end of 2008 we saw Christmas retail sales: women's apparel down 23%; home furnishings and electronics off 27%; luxury items down 35%. These are Depression Era collapses. We saw major bankruptcies, such as retailers Circuit City and Linens and Things. One bankruptcy after another. Then we saw store closings. Starbucks, Home D&D Power and down the line.</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>The question becomes who is going to take all of the vacant retail space? Who is going to rent it? The answer is - nobody. Now we look at the financial collapse in 2008, we saw the Merrill Lynch mob go under the bed and the Lehman boys went bankrupt. You saw bond companies, brokerage firms, and banks go belly up. Who is going to rent all the vacant commercial business space that they used to occupy? The answer is - nobody. The commercial real estate collapse that's going to happen in 2009 is going to dwarf the residential real estate collapse.</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>RT: You use the Great Depression as an analogy, as a comparison. During the Great Depression unemployment was 25%. Now it has increased, it's I think over 7.2. Is that number going to get much, much bigger?</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>G.C.: We have to look at the real number. There are two sets of books that the government keeps. When they measure up unemployment they don't add in the people who are no longer looking for jobs because they have become discouraged since they cannot find employment after looking so long. And they don't include part-time workers. When you put that number into it, the number is 13.7%. And that's a government number. And this is just beginning. And again, current events form future trends.</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>What did we see? We saw in one day some 61,000 jobs evaporate off the map. You're going to see Great Depression numbers. Because, as I mentioned, with this commercial real estate collapse, all of these retail stores closing, like Starbucks and Macy's, you go down the line. You look not only at people who work for these places that no longer have jobs, but how about all the supportive industries - the advertising, the manufacturers, the products. They're going to be laying off people as well. We're going to see Great Depression numbers. In that effect, this is going to be worse than the Great Depression.</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>RT: What are we going to see happening to the society, to people's day-to-day lives in terms of how they treat one another, how they behave, crime?</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>G.C.: When I say it's going to be worse than the Great Depression, we call it the Greatest Depression. By the way, to be using 1930s models to get the U.S. out of this is really stupid. Back then when we first crashed most people didn't have homes. There was no such thing as home equity loan. And back then, people didn't have credit cards. The consumer wasn't 14 trillion dollars in debt. We had a manufacturing base that built the world out of the Great Depression following World War Two. We no longer have that.</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>Now people are at the edge. They're stressed out. Look, the Americans are the most depressed nation on the world already. They take more antidepressant drugs than anybody, plus the other kinds of drugs that they are taking. You're going to see crime levels in America that are going to rival the third world. Welcome Mexico City. You're going to start seeing people being kidnapped in this country like they do in other underdeveloped nations. So it's going to be very violent in America. </P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>RT: You're not exaggerating?</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>G.C.: I'm not exaggerating, the facts are there. I have a saying: when people lose everything and they have nothing to lose, they lose it. You're going to see people saying, off with their heads. There's going to be another revolution in this country.</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>RT: When will this revolution that you have forecasted in your Trends journal happen and what will ignite it?</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>G.C.: It's going to be a tax revolt. We're going to start seeing a tax revolt in the United States. People are one job away from losing everything. We're seeing more and more closures, people are being laid off. People are stretched to the limits. And what do they do in New York State? Some130 new taxes are being proposed, they're raising sales taxes. There's going to be a tax revolt in this country from property taxes first and school taxes second. That's what we're going to see start to happen.</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>RT: Do you feel people are not hopeful that Obama will make a difference?</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>G.C.: People are hopeful, they are desperate and they are fearful. And they'll hang on to anything. Let's look at the facts. A man of change, who did he bring into Washington? You know they say by their deeds you shall know them. Let's look at his Treasury Secretary, Timothy Geithner, former Robert Rubin from the Clinton administration, the former president of the New York Federal Reserve Bank. Change? How about Larry Summers, the former Clinton Secretary of Treasury? I mean, I've been around a long time. I never remember a newly elected president bringing in basically the national security team from the last administration who happen to be from another party.</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>RT: Do you not think Obama's different in any way?</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>G.C.: By their deeds you shall know them! If I bring in a baseball hitter that strikes out every time and I want him to play in the World Series is he going to hit the ball over the fence? They brought in Larry Summers, Timothy Geithner. Look at the crew. Look who they are. They're strike out artists, every one of them. The only thing that they know how to do is not to get their finger nails dirty.</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>RT: There was a sentence in your report, the Trends Journal, that really caught my attention. You wrote: ‘On 9/11, those who listened to the authorities and returned to their offices went down with the towers.' So are you saying that Americans should not be listening to the officials who are saying the Stimulus Plans are going to make everything better? Is that the analogy?</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>G.C.: Read my lips. No new taxes. I didn't have sex with that woman, Monica Lewinski. - I smoked but I didn't inhale. Saddam Hussein has weapons of mass destruction and ties to Al-Qaeda. Why would anybody believe these people?</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>RT: So what are Americans supposed to do if they're not supposed to trust their leaders?</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>G.C.: Personally, I buy gold. And I've been talking about gold since the Trends Journal 2001. We peg the bottom and we said it would start going up at 275. Number two, you don't spend a dime you don't need to spend.</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>RT: What would be the good jobs to benefit from in this year?</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>G.C.: Anything having to do with health. Anything. It's going to be a growth industry. And fortunately a lot of them are going to pay a lot of money in that field because a lot of that is going to be care for the elderly. And the other thing really is anything having to do with conservation engineers, anything that's going to prove technologically sound and smart to save money and to make money. </P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>RT: What about geopolitics, what trends are we going to see in terms of the relationships between the United States and the rest of the world?</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>G.C.: Well the rest of the world is very hopeful, using the word ‘hope', with the Obama administration. And again, we're going to have to see what transpires, but so far, and again, by their deeds you shall know them.</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>Obama, when he first started to run, he was going to be out of Iraq. As soon as he became president he was going to start bringing soldiers home. Now they won't be out for 16 months and now their reports say they're going to bring upwards of 40,000 more troops to Afghanistan. He was also talking about preventive strikes in Pakistan. So it really doesn't look like it's going to be much of a smoothing of geopolitical relations.</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>The one factor we're looking at, at a time that could only be the worst time for it to happen, is what's going on in the Middle East, in the Israel-Gaza war. Israel, as they said, they were trying to do as the reports have come out, if they attack Iran at any level, it will begin World War Three. Because if this war spreads beyond Gaza, it's going to inflame the Middle East. It can cause an oil crisis as we saw in 1973, that's what ended the Arab-Israeli war when they embargoed oil going into the U.S. That's our major concern. We're also seeing, and we're going to wonder, if Obama continues with putting the so-called missile defense shield in Poland and in Czech Republic in Eastern Europe and if they keep pushing more and more into Georgia. If that keeps happening we're going to see a reignition of the Cold War.</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>RT: You have been trend casting since 1980, more than two decades. How do you compile your information and why do you believe you've been so spot-on most of the time?</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>G.C.: Current events form future trends. You can see what's going on. A great scholar said, "In today already walks tomorrow." So we say current events form future trends. But when people look at the trends, they colour them or shade them with their own ideology, their own beliefs. It's what they want, what they hope for, what they wish for.</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>I'm a political atheist. I look at things for the way they are, not the way I want them to be. I don't colour them or try to change them because of an ideology. The other major factor that we do differently at Trends Research Institute than anywhere else is we look at over 300 different categories on a global basis. So we're looking at economics, we're looking at politics, we're looking at changes in the family, we're looking at geopolitics. We're making connections between different fields continually. </P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>RT: How can America get out of the situation?</P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT>G.C.: All you have to do is to look back to the 1990s when America entered into a recession. We had 7.2 unemployment rate in 1993. What got the U.S. out of the 1990s recession was something called the ‘internet revolution' that had a productive capacity. Products were invented, designed, manufactured, marketed and serviced. So you're asking about new jobs, ask about alternative energies. Anything that's going to advance the U.S. into the 21st century in an intelligent way. That's where the job opportunities are going to be.</P>
