Greetings! Is there anything to all the talk about December 21, 2012? The world has come to a crisis point which has never existed in our history. Possible nuclear conflagration in the Middle East, worldwide financial collapse, massive increase in earthquakes, volcanos, wars, diseases, starvation, etc.
Surely the world must be ready and desperate enough for some kind of savior to bring order out of the chaos that is the world today. A quote we have used before by Paul Henri-Spaak (1899-1972), the former Prime Minister of Belgium, “We do not want another committee. We have too many already. What we want is a man of sufficient stature to hold the allegiance of all people, and to lift us out of the economic morass in which we are sinking. Send us such a man and, be he God or the devil, we will receive him.”
Could we witness the rise of the beast, the antichrist, in 2012? “And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.” >(Revelation 13:1) We don't have long to wait to find out. Many occult prophecies and ancient books and religions would seem to indicate this.
If the Lord lets us know the time of His coming,” why wouldn't Satan let his followers know of his coming? Remember, the devil cannot do anything original, only copy and imitate what God does. We will see.

APOCALYPSE NOW?

Tom Horn, a Bible-believing Christian and author of "Apollyon Rising 2012," says he never actually had an interest in the Mayan calendar, which comes to a cyclical end on Dec. 21, 2012. But then he became aware of numerous unrelated calendars and prophecies spanning many centuries, all predicting the end of the current human age at next year's winter solstice.
"I started finding that it wasn't just the Maya," Horn told WND, noting prognostications from Jewish mystics, as well as the ancient Chinese, Hindus, Cherokee Indians, and even artwork among famous American symbols that all point to the same time frame.
Despite not having telescopes, the Mayan people of Central America were extremely accurate observers of celestial movements, with the zenith of their civilization occurring between A.D. 250 and 900.

"The Maya understood this procession of the equinox, basically not to end, but to roll over, to start over," in December 2012, Horn explained.
He says their prophets coupled that date "with prophecies of unrest on Earth after which a new form of man appears on Earth, plus the return of their dragon god, a flying serpent who has the power of air."
"The Aztec saw the same thing, a flying serpent, Quetzalcoatl," Horn said, adding, "their calendar ends in 2012."
He says the Kali Yuga calendar of the Hindus forecasts global changes around 2012, and China's "Book of Changes," also known as the "I-Ching," predicts the end for the same year.
"This finding is all the more astonishing given that McKenna's research was published in 1973 independent of any knowledge of the ending date in the Mayan calendar," Horn noted.
Meanwhile, the Zohar, a collection of books in the mystical Jewish Kabbalah from 700 years ago, talks about the coming of the Messiah at the same general time the other calendars forecast the end.
It predicts in late 2012, "All the kings of the world will assemble in the great city of Rome, and the Holy One will shower on them fire and hail and meteoric stones until they are all destroyed, with the exception of those who will not yet have arrived there. These will commence anew to make other wars. From that time the Mashiach (Messiah) will begin to declare himself, and round him there will be gathered many nations and many hosts from the uttermost ends of the Earth."
Horn says, "Given the rejection of Jesus by orthodox Jews as Messiah, this coming could herald the coming of Antichrist in 2012."
What's perhaps most fascinating is Horn's discussion of what could be the mother of all conspiracy theories, dating back to the Bible's Book of Genesis, involving Noah's great grandson Nimrod, who not only built the famous Tower of Babel, but is the "mighty hunter" who scholars believe became worshipped as the sun god, with names such as Osiris in Egypt and Apollo in Greece.
Horn says from deepest antiquity, a plot involving pagan sun-worshippers, America's Founding Fathers has apparently been in the works, culminating in the end time with the return or resurrection of an evil, supernatural being. That character may actually be pictured as the all-seeing eye on top of the uncapped pyramid on the Great Seal of the United States, found on the back of a $1 bill.
Others have speculated the eye on top of the pyramid could be a representation of Jesus Christ, since the Bible notes, "The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone." (Psalm 118:22 New International Version).
The date at the base of the pyramid is 1776, which is not only the year the Declaration of Independence was signed, but also the beginning of a new Mayan "katun," a time period of 19.7 years. If each of the 13 levels of the pyramid on the Great Seal represents one of these time periods, the top level would mark the year 2012.
The Latin phrase "Novus ordo seclorum" is part of the American seal, and translates to "New order of the ages," which some fear is what many U.S. presidents, including George Herbert Walker Bush, allude to when they use the phrase, "New World Order."
Other strange connections to the United States include the Frieze of American History, a painted panorama at the U.S. Capitol.
Among the artwork is "Cortez and Montezuma at Mexican Temple" by Italian artist Constantino Brumidi.
<P It depicts Spanish explorer Hernando Cortez, the conqueror of Mexico, entering the Aztec temple in 1519. He's welcomed by Emperor Montezuma II, who thought Cortez was a god.
"Montezuma's hand is pointing directly down at the sacred fire, which, in point of fact, goes out ... Dec. 21, 2012, the end of the calendar," Horn noted.
Also featured in the frieze is the Aztec calendar stone, and the sun god Tonatiuh, to whom pagan priests had 80,000 people sacrificed in the year of 1487 alone.
"Hiding in plain sight is the god who demands human sacrifice," said Horn.
He says another high-profile piece that may hold end-time clues is the famous painting in the Rotunda of the Capitol, titled "The Apotheosis of George Washington." The word "apotheosis" means to deify or elevate to divine status, and Washington is depicted being resurrected and becoming divine.
Those who believe the United States was founded on Christianity and visit the Capitol for the first time will be surprised by the stark contrast to historic Christian artwork of the ascension of Jesus Christ compared to the "heaven" George Washington rises into from within the energized Capitol Dome/womb of Isis. It is not occupied by angels, but with devils and pagan deities important to Masonic belief. These include Hermes, Neptune, Venus (Isis), Ceres, Minerva, and Vulcan (Satan), of course, the son of Jupiter and Juno to which human sacrifices are made.
Horn says the symbolism in the painting associated with the deeply rooted idea that chosen humans are selected by supernatural forces, and their earthly kingdoms are formed and guided by these pagan gods.
Washington was himself a Mason, and, according to the book "The Age of Washington" by George W. Nordham, the president was dressed in Masonic attire as he laid the cornerstone of the U.S. Capitol on Sept. 18, 1793.
When it comes to biblical references to the end, a central theme is that Jesus Christ will be returning to Earth in what is often referred to as the "Second Coming" to administer the kingdom of God. While Scripture does not provide a specific date for "the day of the Lord" as it's often called, it does suggest everyone be ready at all times, because His return would come suddenly, like "a thief in the night," and Jesus Himself warned to "be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect." (Matthew 24:44 New King James Version)
The 24th chapter of the Gospel of Matthew features Jesus answering his apostles' questions about signs of His coming and the end of the current age, and Jesus provides a laundry list of events including wars and rumors of wars, false Christs, famines, pestilences, earthquakes and great tribulation, with many believers being slain.
Jesus noted, "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." (Matthew 24:14 King James Version)
He also said: "The day is coming when you will see what Daniel the prophet spoke about - the sacrilegious object that causes desecration standing in the Holy Place." (Reader, pay attention!) "Then those in Judea must flee to the hills." (Matthew 24:15-16 New Living Translation)
This reference to the "Holy Place" has many believing that a new temple of God will have to be constructed in Jerusalem before Jesus' return.
The Managed Agenda

Last week I was with a friend and we were joined by another friend, who as he approached, called to us from a distance, "did you hear about the Penn State sex scandal...?" I looked at my friend and whispered, "He's caught up in the matrix, the managed agenda, and he doesn't even know it."
Many of them are iconic and others have been placed in front of us, in my opinion, to manage the agenda. Why is it that we don't hear about the massive flooding in Thailand, or the ongoing famine in East Africa? Why is it that all three major news outlets go with the same lead story night after night. Why is it that most of the media is now controlled by just five corporations? Why is it that Ron Paul gets only 89 seconds in what is supposed to be a debate? Why is it that the Federal Reserve dictates our interest rate when it is not part of our government but is an independent group of bankers? Why is it that most people know more about the whereabouts of Lindsay Lohan than what their congressman or congresswoman voted on for the entire year? Why is it that the collapse of World Trade Tower, Building #7, can't be investigated? How about the big government bail-outs, for Frannie and Freddie, and Wall street? Why do we have 900 military installations world-wide? How many more years will we be in Afghanistan? Why is there endless war?
I believe that we are being controlled by a carefully managed agenda. Remember my friend whose first comment was about the Penn State, sex scandal. He's bought into the managed agenda. When Herman Cain was publicly eviscerated by our media, who controlled the dialogue, the flow of information? Cain, like Meg Whitman before him, was derailed by accusations that in the end may turn out to be unsubstantiated. He was tried and judged by a media, that like a pack of hungry sharks, feeds on the blood of their latest victim. It is a controlled agenda. Why would all of the networks make a concerted, joint effort, to go after Cain, or Penn State? The FOX news web-site this morning leads with a story about , Natalie Wood? With all due respect, why should I care about Natalie Wood?
The world is falling apart in front of us and FOX chooses to tell us that after 40 years, they may reopen the case! There's not one story on the current situation in Syria, not one. How do you spell obfuscation?
The managed agenda keeps you and me from seeing what is really going on right in front of us. The supernatural is never discussed, prophecy is never mentioned, Jesus is persona-non-grata. Wake up as the hour is getting late, the enemy of our souls grows bolder, and lawlessness is rampant. Come out of the system of thought control, of a managed agenda, of someone telling you and me what to think about! Have you ever noticed that restaurants plays music that is 30 years old? It's the music that we are familiar with, that reminds us of a more stable time.... All is well, everything is OK. Don't pay any attention to that man behind the curtain. Keep moving along as there's nothing to see here. Keep quiet and do your job and don't get out of line. Report any suspicious activity. Prepare for your TSA pat-down, papers please! Everyone with a yellow cross move to the line on the left... quickly now!
The sad truth is that the majority of American Christians have swallowed this media mind conditioning, hook, line and sinker. Those who are expected to know what's happening in the world, so that they might be able to help others who are lost and confused in this web of deception, have been seduced themselves by the same lie that captivated Eve in the Garden.
Television Mind Control
Television is the most powerful weapon of psychological warfare in history and yet it is a member of the family in most households. The programming that we are constantly assaulted with conditions us to a particular worldview. This fake reality changes our behavior making us less active and more compliant with society's shortcomings. Since television is controlled by a small handful of powerful corporations, viewers will never witness informing, truthful news and entertainment. As political and corporate power unite at an ever increasing rate, being informed is more important than ever. People need to seek out independent and alternative unbiased sources on the internet for their information or we will continue to be manipulated by the corporate controlled media.

TV = Mind Control
Using fear and the threat of insecurity to manipulate the people, corporate media, in bed with government, over the years having become the mouthpiece of government control, unleashes a barrage of propaganda, in images and pro-war commentators, to arouse in the population the false sense of security that justifies military action. This way, debate is silenced and dissent is disappeared on the airwaves as once again the corporate media, the gatekeepers of information, allow us only to see and hear the point of view they want us to incorporate into our psyche. Voices of reason and of intelligence are ignored, banished from imparting important thoughts of wisdom, thus making it virtually impossible for the population to ever know there are other options besides the horror of war.
With corporate anchors, journalists, reporters, commentators and executives pushing into our homes an exclusively pro-war, jingoistic viewpoint, blitzkrieging us with their propaganda-laced images and opinion, over months of constant threats of fear and insecurity, denying the public from ever seeing or hearing truths and realities, it therefore becomes rather easy, with a population addicted to television viewing, to mobilize a nation for war. With the marriage of government and corporate power, truth disappears just as much as falsity prospers. With both entities profiting from the spoils of war, it is in each other's best interest to work together to disseminate the seeds that will invariably spawn the rebirth of a dormant war culture.
Once again the system is at work, knowing how easy it is to control the minds of a dumbed down population that has been well trained, and some might say socially engineered, to never question authority, never think outside the box, never seek accountability and never think for itself. Easily manipulated, millions of people are conditioned to believe, from a very early age, that anything emanating from television is sacrosanct. Thus, everything they watch is reality and anything they hear is truth. Anchors and reporters become trusted personalities voicing reticent opinions whose veracity are seldom, if ever, questioned.
It is designed to manipulate and control at once, transforming the population into a sedentary herd of sheeple who never question what is told them. Over the years millions of citizens have used this most dangerous drug to escape lives of frustration, unhappiness, desperation, depression and loneliness, never realizing that with every hour they watch, with every show they are glued to, with every channel they surf their minds are turned to mush, becoming conduits of ignorance, molded into muscles in desperate need of gossip and sensationalism, no longer thinking for itself.
The Establishment has perfected its machination of propaganda, creating the realities it wants into society, forming whatever truth that will be of the greatest benefit, not to society, but to itself. Whatever reality it wants to create and disseminate is quickly absorbed by a population eager to feed off the mammary glands of television. The Establishment, the corporate world and government have for years told us how and what to think, how to act, who to obey and where to follow, condemning our minds to obedience, our lives to conformism and silent acquiescence.

US Warship Moves To Syrian Coast as Tensions Mount
France proposes NATO military intervention

The aircraft carrier George H.W. Bush has moved to the Syrian coast amidst reports that a no fly zone is about to be imposed over the country as the U.S. Embassy in Damascus orders its citizens to leave "immediately," while France has proposed a formal NATO military intervention.
"Probably the most damning evidence that the "western world" is about to do the unthinkable and invade Syria, and in the process force Iran to retaliate, is the weekly naval update from Stratfor, which always has some very interesting if always controversial view on geopolitics, where we find that for the first time in many months, CVN 77 George H.W. Bush has left its traditional theater of operations just off the Straits of Hormuz, a critical choke point, where it traditionally accompanies the Stennis, and has parked... right next to Syria," reports Zero Hedge.
Publicly, officials are claiming that the George H.W. Bush carrier strike group is "on its way home" after being located in the Middle East for the past five months, but a specific date for the warship's return has not been given.
According to a report in the Virginian-Pilot, the aircraft carrier will "conduct a range of operations and help maintain maritime security," before it heads home.
As we reported yesterday, European sources quoted in Kuwait's al Rai daily suggest that Arab states are set to impose a no fly zone over the country with the aid of Turkish jet fighters and U.S. logistical support. In modern parlence the term "no fly zone" is a euphemism for a bombing campaign, as we saw with Libya.
Although France has expressed its opposition to a no fly zone, foreign minister Alain Juppe met with Syrian National Council leader Burhan Ghalioun in Paris yesterday to assure him that NATO powers are looking at using "international troops" to "create a secure zone for civilians" by means of "humanitarian corridors, or humanitarian zones".
Tensions also escalated yesterday after the U.S. Embassy in Damascus urged its citizens to leave Syria "immediately," while Turkey's foreign ministry told its citizens to avoid traveling through the country on their return home from Saudi Arabia.
"The U.S. Embassy continues to urge U.S. citizens in Syria to depart immediately while commercial transportation is available," said a statement issued to the American community in Syria Wednesday and posted on the Embassy's website. "The number of airlines serving Syria has decreased significantly since the summer, while many of those airlines remaining have reduced their number of flights."
The Obama administration quietly pulled Ambassador Robert Ford from the country last month and has indicated he will not return.
Attacking Syria could represent an end run around creating a justification for a military assault on Iran for Israel and the United States because Iran has vowed to defend its ally. However, China and Russia have aggressively opposed any action, with Russia last week moving its warships into Syrian territorial waters - a tactic designed to discourage any NATO-led attack.
Polls have shown that the majority of Americans oppose military intervention in Syria, with just 12 per cent favoring any kind of conflict.

Russia Arms Syria With Missiles To Defend Against NATO Attack
Warns it will not tolerate western powers crossing a "red line"

We now know what those six Russian warships that reportedly entered Syrian territorial waters last week were carrying. Aside from representing a show of strength to discourage NATO powers from launching a military attack, on board were Russian technical experts ready to help Damascus set up a sophisticated missile defense system sold to them by Moscow.
"Russian warships that have reached waters off Syria in recent days were carrying, among other things, Russian technical advisors who will help the Syrians set up an array of S-300 missiles Damascus has received in recent weeks, a report in the London-based Arabic language Al Quds-Al Arabi said Thursday. Citing sources in Syria and Russia, the paper said that Moscow sees a Western attack on Syria as a "red line" that it will not tolerate," reports Arutz Sheva.
The S-300 missiles, which according to the report will be used to "deflect a possible attack by NATO or the U.S. and EU," are long range surface-to-air missiles developed by Russia in 1979 for the purpose of protecting large industrial and military bases from enemy attack aircraft and cruise missiles.
The system is widely regarded as one of the most powerful anti-aircraft arrays in modern warfare, having the ability to track up to 100 targets and engage 12 at any one time. Russia recently tried to sell the same system to Iran but the transaction was halted after pressure from the U.S. and Israel.
Arming Syria with such a proficient means of aerial defense would obviously not bode well for any prospective "no fly zone" being planned by western powers. Reports have been circulating this week that fighter jets from Turkey and other Arab states would soon enter Syrian airspace under "humanitarian" pretenses with logistical aid from the United States.
"Along with the missiles, the report says that Russia has installed advanced radar systems in all key Syrian military and industrial installations. The radar system also covers areas north and south of Syria, where it will be able to detect movement of troops or aircraft towards the Syrian border. The radar targets include much of Israel, as well as the Incirlik military base in Turkey, which is used by NATO," states the report.
French foreign minister Alain Juppé yesterday assured Syrian opposition forces that NATO powers are planning to launch a military intervention by imposing "humanitarian corridors or humanitarian zones" in the name of protecting civilians from the alleged abuses of the al-Assad regime.
The prospect of air strikes being launched under a "humanitarian" banner are seen as increasingly likely given the fact that the aircraft carrier George H.W. Bush has been moved to the Syrian coast in recent days having left its traditional theater of operations just off the Straits of Hormuz.
Tensions also escalated yesterday after the U.S. Embassy in Damascus urged its citizens to leave Syria "immediately," while Turkey's foreign ministry told its citizens to avoid traveling through the country on their return home from Saudi Arabia.
As we have previously noted, attacking Syria could merely be an entrée for an assault on Iran because Tehran has promised to defend its ally.

The Russian Bear Is Back, The Soviet Union Is Being Revived And The Cold War Is Not Over

If you believe that the United States is the "sole superpower" in the world, then you really need to read the rest of this article.
Most Americans have very little idea what is actually going on in the rest of the world and how the global balance of power is shifting. For example, can you name the country that is the number one oil producer in the world, the number one oil exporter in the world, the number one exporter of natural gas in the world and that also has the second most powerful military in the entire world? In case you need a hint, it is not Saudi Arabia, it is not China and it is not the United States. The correct answer is Russia. The Russian Bear is back in a big way. Did you know that Russia is rapidly becoming one of the top suppliers of oil to the United States? Russia has vast natural resources, a national debt that is very low (ratio of publicly held debt to GDP is less than 10%) and an economy that has boomed over the past decade. Russia is busy flexing its muscles in many different ways. For example, many are pointing out that the "Eurasian economic union" that Russia is putting together is a significant move in the direction of a revival of the Soviet Union. Russia is also rapidly modernizing its military and developing very powerful new weapons systems. Most Americans believe that the Cold War is over and that Russia is a toothless bear that no longer represents a threat. It is difficult to find words to describe how wrong that assessment of the situation is.
The other night during the Republican debate the candidates said next to nothing about Russia. It was almost as if the second most powerful superpower on the planet did not even exist.
That debate was yet another example of just how bizarre our foreign policy has become. As you will see below, if there is one country on the face of the planet that could defeat the United States in a war, it is Russia.
And if you believe that Russia is now our "friend", then you have been seriously deceived.
The Cold War is not over. In fact, activity by Russian intelligence agents inside the United States and other western nations is now at least at Cold War levels.
And tensions between the United States and Russia are rising on multiple fronts.
For instance, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has announced that Russia is going to deploy new nuclear missiles that will be specifically targeted at U.S. missile defense installations if the United States proceeds with plans for a missile defense shield in Europe.
The following comes from a recent article posted on Yahoo News....
Medvedev warned that Russia will deploy short-range Iskander missiles in Kaliningrad, a Baltic Sea exclave bordering Poland, and place weapons in other areas in Russia's west and south to target U.S. missile defense sites.
Medvedev added that prospective Russian strategic nuclear missiles will be fitted with systems that would allow them to penetrate prospective missile defenses.
In addition, we are starting to see some major treaties between the United States and Russia totally break down. For example, the U.S. State Department has announced that the United States will no longer be observing the provisions of the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe. Russia stopped observing the treaty back in 2007.
The world is changing and the American people need to wake up.
While the United States spends hundreds of billions of dollars chasing around goat herders in Afghanistan, Russia is preparing for nuclear war with the United States.

In Moscow alone, 5000 new "emergency bomb shelters" are being constructed. The goal is to have enough shelters to hold nearly the entire population of Moscow and the plan calls for all the shelters to be completed by the end of 2012. When construction is finally finished, virtually the entire population of Moscow will be able to reach a bomb shelter within a matter of minutes. So what is the U.S. government doing to prepare all of us?
Nothing.
Instead, the Obama administration is doing the best that it can to disarm America.
In a previous article, I described what the new START Treaty is going to do to the U.S. strategic nuclear arsenal....
The treaty restricts both the United States and Russia to a maximum of 1,550 deployed strategic nuclear warheads. For the U.S. military this would represent a decline of well over 90% from a peak of approximately 31,255 strategic nuclear warheads in 1967. The treaty would also limit the total number of deployed ballistic missiles or nuclear bombers to 700.
In that same article, I discussed the fact that this treaty will leave Russia with a significant advantage in nuclear weapons because it does nothing to address their overwhelming superiority in tactical nuclear weapons....
The treaty completely ignores the very serious imbalance that exists between the U.S. and Russia when is comes to tactical nuclear weapons. Today it is estimated that the Russians have approximately 10,000 tactical nuclear warheads while the U.S. only has a few hundred. These tactical nuclear warheads can be delivered by cruise missiles, long-range artillery or aircraft. The treaty does nothing to change those numbers. This would put the United States at a very serious strategic disadvantage.
Over the last several years, Russia has also been quite busy updating and modernizing their strategic nuclear forces. The United States has not been doing the same. U.S. officials still believe that the U.S. has a technological edge in this area, but everyone agrees that this gap is rapidly narrowing.
In recent years Russia has also developed submarines that are too "quiet" for us to track and ballistic missiles that can evade all of our missile defense systems.
While the U.S. has been making strategic mistakes like helping al-Qaeda take over Libya, Russia has been developing devastating new weapons systems. The following are just a couple of examples....
In 2010, Russia introduced their new "fourth generation" nuclear submarine to the world, which is apparently quieter than any other submarine in existence.
*A while back, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin climbed into the cockpit of Russia's new "fifth generation" fighter jet and announced that it was far superior to the F-22 Raptor.
But most Americans don't know any of this.
As the United States drowns in debt, Russia is thriving.
According to an article in Forbes, Moscow is now the third most expensive city in the world in which to live. An article posted by CNN says that Moscow is the fourth most expensive city.
In fact, the cost of living is higher in Moscow than in any city in the United States.
Now there are even fears that Russia is trying to put the old Soviet Union back together.
It didn't get much press in the United States, but the initial members of the "Eurasian Union" were recently announced.
Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia will be the first three members, and it has been made clear that all of the nations there were formerly part of the Soviet Union will be welcome to join.

Three ex-Soviet states were Friday to agree the first steps towards creating a Eurasian economic union, a project backed by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to bind closer the former USSR.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and his Kazakhstan and Belarus counterparts Nursultan Nazarbayev and Alexander Lukashenko were to sign a declaration on further economic integration at a summit in Moscow, the Kremlin said in a statement.
"The declaration will set out the ultimate aim (of economic integration) as the creation of a Eurasian economic union," it said.
So why isn't the U.S. press reporting on this?
Back when Reagan was president, Russia was the number one foreign policy issue.
But today nobody wants to talk about Russia.
Everyone in America so desperately wants to believe that the Cold War is over.

But the truth is that Russia is much stronger politically, economically and militarily right now than the Soviet Union ever was.
And significant portions of the Russian population have developed a great fondness for Soviet nostalgia. Many of them wish that the Soviet Union was never broken up. The following is a brief excerpt from a recent news report from Australia....
Mikhail Chernysh, a professor at the Institute of Sociology in Moscow, says constant exposure to a lost country has clearly rubbed off on Russians.
"What is striking, that there is nostalgia about the Soviet past even among young people who never lived in the Soviet period, who were never part of Soviet history," he said.
From new retro Soviet-era vending machines to statues of Lenin in central squares, to the ubiquitous hammer and sickle, reminders of the USSR's past glory are everywhere and for many in the new Russia, the past is too good to forget.
If the United States continues to underestimate Russia it will be a gigantic mistake.
The Cold War is not over. Anyone that runs around saying that does not know what they are talking about. The top politicians and military leaders in Russia do not view us as a friend at all.
If Russia was ever able to pull off a successful first strike and take out most of our remaining nuclear warheads (remember, our nuclear arsenal is now less than 10% the size it used to be), it is entirely possible that Russia would be able to totally defeat the United States in a future war - especially if they are allied with China at the time.
Most people in the U.S. think that this can never happen, but the top brass in Russia and in China spend long hours on exactly such scenarios.
Sadly, very little about Russia will be said during the entire 2012 election season. Instead, everyone will be focused on the "massive threat" posed by the goat herders that are running around the hills of Afghanistan.
The blind are leading the blind and meanwhile the world is dramatically changing.
The Russian Bear is back, and Russia is going to play a huge role in world events in the years to come.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards dare Israel to attack

Iran dares Israel to attack, because the retaliation would send the Jewish state to "the dustbin of history," a senior Revolutionary Guards commander said, according to the Fars news agency Monday
"Our greatest wish is that they commit such a mistake," the chief of the Guards' aerospatial division, Amir-Ali Hadjizadeh, was quoted as saying.
"For some time there has been a hidden energy we hope to expend to consign the enemies of Islam forever to the dustbin of history," he said.
"Our ballistic (missile) capacity never ceases to grow," he added.
The comments were one of the most belligerent reactions yet by an Iranian official to speculation that Israel was considering launching air strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
The threat -- raised recently in Israeli media reports, and by Israeli President Shimon Peres -- comes amid rising international tensions over Iran's nuclear programme.
A November 8 report by the UN nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, said intelligence strongly suggested Iran was researching nuclear weapons.
Iran has denied its nuclear programme has any military dimension.
Government officials have said they are willing to cooperate with the IAEA, while Iranian military officers have talked up their country's ability to counter-attack if strikes are launched.

US' hypersonic weapon can hit targets in an hour

A hypersonic weapon prototype belonging to the US Army which travels at several times the speed of sound, has the capability to strike targets anywhere on Earth within an hour.
The weapon streaked across the Pacific Ocean successfully during its flawless maiden test flight on Nov 17.
The hypersonic weapon concept flew at a relatively flat trajectory within the atmosphere, rather than soaring up toward space like a ballistic missile and eventually came back down.
Hypersonic speed is defined as being at least five times the speed of sound (3,805 mph, or 6,124 kph, at sea level).
Pentagon's research arm, called DARPA, had carried out two hypersonic test flights in April 2010 and August 2011, Fox News reported.
The Army's Advanced Hypersonic Weapon launched aboard a three-stage booster system from the Pacific Missile Range Facility on the island of Kauai in Hawaii, and deployed for its hypersonic glide, which eventually splashed down in the Reagan Test Site located near the Kwajalein Atoll.
Pentagon officials kept a careful watch on the flight test from space, air, sea and ground, which allowed them to collect data about aerodynamics, navigation, guidance, and control performance, as well as thermal protection technologies meant to shrug off intense heat during hypersonic flight.

As the Italian government struggled to borrow and Spain considered seeking an international bail-out, British ministers privately warned that the break-up of the euro, once almost unthinkable, is now increasingly plausible.
Diplomats are preparing to help Britons abroad through a banking collapse and even riots arising from the debt crisis.
The Treasury confirmed earlier this month that contingency planning for a collapse is now under way.
A senior minister has now revealed the extent of the Government’s concern, saying that Britain is now planning on the basis that a euro collapse is now just a matter of time.
“It’s in our interests that they keep playing for time because that gives us more time to prepare,” the minister told the Daily Telegraph.
Recent Foreign and Commonwealth Office instructions to embassies and consulates request contingency planning for extreme scenarios including rioting and social unrest.
Greece has seen several outbreaks of civil disorder as its government struggles with its huge debts. British officials think similar scenes cannot be ruled out in other nations if the euro collapses.
Diplomats have also been told to prepare to help tens of thousands of British citizens in eurozone countries with the consequences of a financial collapse that would leave them unable to access bank accounts or even withdraw cash.
The EU treaties that created the euro and set its membership rules contain no provision for members to leave, meaning any break-up would be disorderly and potentially chaotic.
If eurozone governments defaulted on their debts, the European banks that hold many of their bonds would risk collapse.
Some analysts say the shock waves of such an event would risk the collapse of the entire financial system, leaving banks unable to return money to retail depositors and destroying companies dependent on bank credit.
The Financial Services Authority this week issued a public warning to British banks to bolster their contingency plans for the break-up of the single currency.
Some economists believe that at worst, the outright collapse of the euro could reduce GDP in its member-states by up to half and trigger mass unemployment.
Analysts at UBS, an investment bank earlier this year warned that the most extreme consequences of a break-up include risks to basic property rights and the threat of civil disorder.
“When the unemployment consequences are factored in, it is virtually impossible to consider a break-up scenario without some serious social consequences,” UBS said.

Finance minister's astonishing claim comes despite deepening crisis that threatens the existence of the single currency

Germany last night declared that Britain would be forced to scrap the pound and join the euro - as David Cameron returned home empty-handed from crisis talks in Berlin.
In a highly-provocative intervention, German finance minister Wolfgang Schauble suggested the UK's struggling economy meant the pound was doomed, and urged the Prime Minister to back Europe's ailing single currency.
Mr Schauble said the euro would emerge stronger from the current crisis - leaving Britain on the sidelines unless it signed up. He said Britain would be forced to join 'faster than some people on the British island think' - despite a pledge by Mr Cameron never to do so.
Tory MP Philip Davies suggested Mr Schauble was 'living in cloud cuckoo land' and should concentrate on resolving the crisis.
He added: 'Rather than telling us what to do he should be listening to what people in Germany want - I'm pretty sure they would rather have the Deutschmark back than bail out Greece and Italy.'
But Jean-Claude Juncker, head of the powerful Euro Group of eurozone finance ministers, said Britain was in no position to comment on the crisis as its deficit was twice the European average.
HOW CAN SHE STOP US HAVING A REFERENDUM?
The Conservatives have long promised a referendum on repatriating powers from the EU, but have not yet delivered one.
Angela Merkel's comments today make a referendum less likely, as her 'limited treaty change' will not have to be approved by countries outside the euro, including the UK.
The Coalition's 'referendum lock' commits the Government to holding a public vote the next time Britain is supposed to sign up to a new treaty which would hand more power to Brussels.
But if the eurozone countries try to solve the debt crisis by closer economic integration, the UK will have no say - even though this could have a massive impact on Britain.
Although no referendum will be held, there is nothing to stop the Government from trying to repatriate powers by itself, but without a popular mandate it will be taken less seriously by other EU countries.
He said he was 'not in favour of being dictated to by countries that are doing worse than us'.
Mr Schauble's comments came as Mr Cameron arrived to a hostile reception in Berlin for talks on the eurozone crisis with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Senior members of Mrs Merkel's ruling coalition voiced their irritation at London's 'lecturing' over the crisis.
Leading German magazine Der Spiegel ran a prominent feature describing Britain as the 'dis- eased empire'.
And Rainer Brüderle, head of Mrs Merkel's coalition partners, said: 'Britain can't be freeloaders in the eurozone.'
The deputy leader of Mrs Merkel's party, Michael Meister, criticised Britain for lecturing the eurozone on what steps it should take while not actively contributing towards a solution.
He also warned Mr Cameron against catering to nationalist sentiment on the euro, saying turmoil in the single currency area could have a devastating impact on countries outside the eurozone and on London's financial industry.
Mrs Merkel flatly rejected Mr Cameron's key demand to allow the European Central Bank to pump in hundreds of billions of euros to prop up the euro and prevent a new recession.
But in a sign of growing nervousness about the crisis, the ECB yesterday intervened to buy up Spanish and Italian government bonds to prevent market speculation driving interest rates to unsustainable levels.
The German Chancellor also made clear she would press ahead with EU treaty reforms, even if they are opposed by Britain - although she said she was prepared to show 'tolerance and forbearance'. - Berlin has drawn up secret plans designed to bypass the threat of a British referendum on treaty reforms.

A leaked German memo stated: 'Limiting the effect of the treaty changes to the eurozone states would make ratification easier, which would nevertheless be required by all EU member states (thereby less referenda could be necessary, which could also affect the UK).'
CONTINUED TURMOIL IN EUROZONE BOND MARKET
The bond yields of troubled eurozone governments have remained stubbornly high today.
Both Italy and Spain are hovering around the seven per cent barrier at which repayment costs are considered to be unsustainable.
The memo will add to fears that Germany wants to use the eurozone crisis to create a European 'super state' with its own tax and spend policies.
Last night a Downing Street source insisted that all 27 member states had to agree to treaty changes even if they only affected the 17 eurozone members. He said there would be no need for a referendum as long as powers were not taken from the UK and handed to Brussels.
Mrs Merkel is determined to establish a new European Monetary Fund with powers to intervene directly in the economies of member states.
Former prime minister Sir John Major last night spoke out about the 'undemocratic' drive towards greater fiscal union in the eurozone.
He warned of the danger posed by EU plans to impose a new tax on financial transactions, which he described as a 'heat-seeking missile' targeted at the City of London.
Mr Cameron yesterday rejected German calls for an EU-wide tax. But he was silent on previous demands for the repatriation of powers to Britain.
At a joint press conference with Mrs Merkel the pair admitted they had made 'no progress' on key fault lines.
Tory MP Mark Reckless last night said there would be an unanswerable case for a referendum in this country if the eurozone decided to press ahead with treaty changes unilaterally. He said: 'I have no objection to them pressing ahead with creating a Europe of 17 but we would have to reconsider our own relationship with that.
'It would be them leaving us rather than us leaving them - and that would be a very good basis for a referendum.'
Former Tory leadership contender David Davis yesterday called on Mr Cameron to exploit the crisis to demand the repatriation of key powers in areas such as employment rights.
But Downing Street last night played down expectations of a major repatriation of powers. Ministers are instead focusing on securing an opt-out from the financial transactions tax.
Despite the tensions Mr Cameron and Mrs Merkel attempted to put on a show of unity for the cameras yesterday. Mr Cameron said: 'It's a good relationship. We have strong agreement on key issues about action the European economy needs to take.'
But he added: 'It is obvious that we don't agree on every aspect of European policy, but I am clear that we can address and accommodate and deal with those differences.'

A HUGE European superstate is the only solution to the economic crisis engulfing the continent, the President of the European Commission declared today.
Jose Manuel Barroso claimed the fate of the euro and European Union were intertwined and that the only answer to the growing threat of collapse was a massive Federal Europe. - - As the crisis in Greece deepened Mr Barroso told the European Parliament: "We are confronted with the most serious challenge of a generation. - - "What we need now is a new, unifying impulse, a new federalist moment - let's not be afraid to use the word. - - "The right way to stop the negative cycle and strengthen the euro is to deepen integration, mainly in the euro area. This is the way to go." - - He even claimed the crisis was "a fight". - - "This is a fight for the jobs and prosperity of families in all our member states.
- "This is a fight for the economic and political future of Europe. - - "This is a fight for what Europe represents in the world. This is a fight for European integration itself," he added. - - His outrageous land grab comes as two French Banks were downgraded by Moody's, one of the big three credit agencies, due to their exposure to the Greek debt. - - He said the big problem was that new rules governing the running of the euro area had been agreed but not fully implemented by the euro-zone countries. - - Barroso added: "In the cacophony of criticisms, counter-criticisms, magic bullets and miracle panaceas that are proposed on a daily basis, the truth has been drowned out - that solid, feasible and concrete proposals have been made. The only quote worth noting from the just delivered speech by ECB executive board member José Manuel González-Páramo is the following: "We cannot completely delegate governance to financial markets. The euro area is the world's second largest monetary area. It cannot depend solely on the opinions of ratings agencies and markets. It needs economic governance arrangements that are preventive and linear. This underscores my central point that a much more comprehensive approach to economic governance is now the priority for the euro area. And this means more economic and financial integration for the euro area, with a significant transfer of sovereignty to the EMU level over fiscal, structural and financial policies." In other words, in order to protect people from the "stupidity" of rating agencies which after years of lying have finally started telling the truth, and the market which does what it always does, and punishes those who fail, Europe must be prepared to give up "significant sovereignty" (sounds better than Anschluss) to Europe's "betters" which is another way of saying 'he who pays the piper calls the tune." And "he" in this case is, of course, Germany. In other words, courtesy of one failed monetary experiment Germany will succeed, without sheeding one drop of blood, where it failed rather historically some 70 years ago.

A mummified elongated skull found in Peru could finally prove the existence of aliens.
The strangely shaped head - almost as big as its 50cm (20in) body - has baffled anthropologists.
It was one of two sets of remains found in the city of Andahuaylillas in the southern province of Quispicanchi.
The skeletal sets were discovered by Renato Davila Riquelme, who works for the Privado Ritos Andinos museum in Cusco in south-eastern Peru.
He said that that the eye cavities are far larger than normally seen in humans.

There is a soft spot in the skull - called an open fontanelle - which is a characteristic of children in their first year of life, yet the skull also has two large molars, only found in much older humans.
Davila Riquelme said three anthropologists, from Spain and Russia, arrived at the museum last week to investigate the findings and agreed it was 'not a human being' and would conduct further studies.
He added: 'Although the assessment was superficial, it is obvious that its features do not correspond to any ethnic group in the world.'
The remains of an eyeball in the right socket will help determine its genetic DNA - and clear up the controversy if it is human or not.
The second mummy is incomplete and is only 30cm (12in).
It lacks a face and seems to be wrapped in a layer as a placenta, fetal position.
The remains bear a striking resemblance to the triangular crystal skull in the 2008 Indiana Jones film Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - which turned out to be of alien origin and have supernatural powers.
THE TRUTH MAY LIE IN A SIMPLE PIECE OF CLOTH...
The alternative explanation for the bizarre discovery is that the skull was artificially deformed as part of a tribal ritual.
The practice of skull elongation - to signify group affiliation or social status - dates back 9,000 years.
Common in various tribal cultures around the world (such as Mayans, North American natives and Australian Aborigines), the head moulding styles fell into three groups: flat, round or conical.
To achieve the desired shape, the head was wrapped in tight cloth.
In the case of cranial flattening, the head was placed between two pieces of wood.
The technique would usually be carried out on an infant, when the skull is at its most pliable.
The cloth would be applied from a month after birth and be held in place for about six months.
