Bombshell Report: Deal of the Century Won't Include Palestinian State

The long-anticipated details of the Trump Administration's “Deal of the Century” is likely to stop short of giving the Palestinians a state, according to sources close to the White House cited by The Washington Post.
Sources say that the “Deal of the Century” will focus on Israel’s security concerns.
The Trump Administration is expected to present their proposal in the coming months for a resolution to the long-entrenched Palestinian problem. Behind-the-scenes over the past two years, Trump’s Middle East adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner has been shuttling back and forth between Israeli and Middle East leaders in secret meetings, and officials have kept many of the details of their talks secret. However, recent comments from Kushner and other US officials indicate that Palestinian statehood will not be on the table as a condition for restarting peace talks.
The Trump proposal will include financial incentives to improve the lives of Palestinian Arabs, people familiar with the effort said in the Post report. Arab officials around the Middle East have also confirmed that Kushner has suggested that economic opportunities for Palestinians will be a centerpiece of the plan.
The plan will attempt to provide sufficient measures to satisfy Israeli security concerns.
Trump has said he wants to overturn previous assumptions about how to resolve the conflict and come up with a realistic plan that works on the ground. “We believe we have a plan that is fair, realistic and implementable that will enable people to live better lives,” a senior White House official reportedly said Friday. “We looked at past efforts and solicited ideas from both sides and partners in the region with the recognition that what has been tried in the past has not worked. Thus, we have taken an unconventional approach founded on not hiding from reality, but instead speaking truth,” the official said.
In an interview with Israel's Army Radio on Tuesday, Strategic Affairs Minister Gilad Erdan in a response to The Washington Post’s report said, “If the American administration understood that the idea of a Palestinian state has no justification, feasibility, or chance, this is significant news.”
White House Special Envoy Jason Greenblatt, who has been tapped to lead the US negotiating team, tweeted a direct appeal to Palestinian leaders last week. “To the PA: Our plan will greatly improve Palestinian lives & create something very different than what exists. It’s a realistic plan to thrive/prosper even if it means compromises. It’s not a ‘sell out’ —if the plan isn’t realistic, no one can deliver it,” Greenblatt wrote.
Again, exact details of the plan remain confidential. However, from what we have learned so far, Trump’s proposal to bring a resolution to the conflict will link economic development for Palestinians with recognition of Israel and acceptance by the Palestinian’s of autonomy in the region, but not sovereignty or statehood. In addition, according to recent statements from newly-appointed US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Israel will be supported in her plans to annex Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria. So far, though, we have not heard much about what the Bible calls a “stumbling stone among the nations,” namely the status of Jerusalem.

Kushner Promises ‘Unconventional Approach’ With New Israel-Palestine Peace Plan

US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law is believed to be the main architect of the upcoming, mysterious peace plan, which Trump dubbed a “deal of the century.”
Jared Kushner, the US president's son-in-law and senior presidential advisor, has commented on his upcoming peace plan for Israel and Palestine, calling it an "unconventional approach."
Remarking on previous US administrations' adherence to a two-state solution, Kushner said previous attempts at negotiating peace had "failed" and that the new proposal will be different, The Times of Israel reported Tuesday.
"We've taken what I think is an unconventional approach. We've studied the past efforts and how they failed and why they failed," Kushner said, avoiding articulating any specifics of the upcoming plan, expected to be released after the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. "We've tried to do it a bit differently."
"If people focus on the old traditional talking points, we're never going to make progress," he added, in an apparent reference to the two-state solution.
According to Kushner, the new plan will be a reversal of approaches by previous administrations, which attempted to begin processes leading to unspecified solutions, the Times reports. The Trump administration will take a "bottom-up" approach: start "with a proposed solution" and then "work on a process to try and get there."
He did specify, however, that the upcoming plan will take Israel's security concerns into account, while simultaneously "dealing with all the core status issues." Besides, the plan will also propose a "robust business plan for the whole region."
"I think that with the two together you have the opportunity to push forward," he said.
In order to make the plan a reality, both sides must be ready for "tough compromises," Kushner explained, adding that he has no illusions as to whether the plan will be accepted instantly with open arms by both sides.
"I hope that when they look at our proposal — I'm not saying they're going to… say ‘this is perfect and let's go forward.' I'm hopeful that what they'll do is say ‘there are some compromises here, but at the end of the day this is really a framework to allow our lives [to get] materially better,'" he explained.
"We'll see if the leadership on both sides has the courage to take the leap to try and go forward," Kushner added.
With the upcoming plan being closely guarded, the media can only speculate about the specifics. Haaretz's Anshel Pfeffer provided some historical insight into Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plan from 20 years ago.
According to that plan, Israel would seek to secure its border with Jordan and establish a buffer zone in Jordan Valley north of the Dead Sea, seize a strip around Jerusalem "to ensure that the city is not choked by adjoining Palestinian areas," install early warning stations in the Samarian mountains and secure the Israel's largest aquifer, containing some 40 percent of country's water, which runs along the lower part of the western slopes of the Judean and Samarian hills.
With all the abovementioned territories secured by Israel, Palestinians will be given freedom to act as they please as long as their territories remain demilitarized and pose no threat to Israel. As Netanyahu himself put it in his book "A Durable Peace," "the Palestinians should have all the powers to run their lives and none of the powers to threaten Israel's life."
However, whether Kushner's plan will embrace Bibi's old plans in full remains to be seen.

The American Pro-Israel PAC (APIP), a new pro-Israel Christian initiative, brought together over 300 influential Evangelical Christians, as well as traditional and Messianic Jews.
According to Joel Chernoff, Executive Director of the Messianic Alliance for Israel Advocacy, Messianic Jews played a major role in the program, which featured Jonathan Cahn as one of the speakers. “To my surprise, there was great interest in who we were and even awareness of our efforts with a One State Solution (OSS) and Opportunity Grant Bill we are introducing to Congress,” Chernoff said.
The Messianic plan includes financial incentives for potential host countries to absorb Palestinians willing to leave Gaza and the biblical heartlands.
Several members of the President’s Evangelical Council were present to promote the new Christian pro-Israel organization. “Promises were made to 'walk' the OSS into the President (Trump) to make sure he understands it and has it at the ready for his soon-to-be-revealed Peace Plan,” Chernoff said. “Many great new friends were made that can help us advance our advocacy efforts on behalf of the State of Israel and our Jewish people in general,” he continued. “One in particular was Major General Klifi-Amir, CEO of the powerful Friends of the IDF charity here in the US.”
Chernoff, who is also General Secretary of the Messianic Jewish Alliance of America (MJAA), believes that as the Messianic community seeks to serve God and the Jewish people, God will lift the Messianic Jewish community onto the world stage as it relates to Israel and the spiritual restoration of the Jewish people.

‘They are Christians’: Obama & Clinton lambasted for calling bombed Sri Lankans ‘Easter worshipers’

Some people believe prominent Democrats deliberately avoided using the word “Christian” when condemning bombings of churches and hotels in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday as part of a policy to undermine Christian faith in the US.
The eight bomb attacks in Sri Lanka, which killed almost 300 people on Easter Sunday, sparked worldwide condemnation. But the way some US politicians expressed their condolences sparked a minor outcry among conservative Americans. Former President Barack Obama and the former secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, were blasted for using the term “Easter worshipers” instead of “Christians” when referring to the victims of the attacks.
Three Sri Lankan Christian churches were targeted by the perpetrators, implying that the Christian minority was in the crosshairs. Some commentators in the US said Obama and Clinton were in the wrong when they failed to name the religion.
Particular ire was sparked by the fact that both US politicians didn’t hesitate to use the word “Muslim” when expressing condolences to the victims of last month’s massacre at mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Notably, Obama and Clinton were not the only US figures, who used the term in remarks about the bloodshed in Sri Lanka. So did Adam Schiff, the Democrat chair of the House Intelligence Committee.
And the same goes for US Attorney Trent Shores.
The criticism is based on the perception that the Democratic Party is bent on downplaying America’s Christian roots for the sake of sensibilities of people adhering to other religions. The sentiment is probably best reflected in Fox News’ coverage of the supposed “war on Christmas” in the US.
In this particular case, however, the notion may be misplaced, one commenter pointed out. Christian churches are not exclusively Christian places of worship there, quite the contrary.
In Sri Lanka, Christianity plays a unique role of serving as a bridge between people by welcoming both the Sinhalese and Tamil ethnic groups. Considering that Tamil separatism was behind a bloody 25-year-long civil war on the South Asian island, which ended just a decade ago, one can understand why this role is highly appreciated.

Al-Jazeera journalist Saif Khalid claims that reporting the name of one of the alleged suicide bombers in Sri Lanka is “Islamophobic”.
Over 200 people have died after explosions rocked three luxury hotels in the nation’s largest city, Colombo, and three packed Catholic churches. Two additional attacks took place at other sites.
One of the alleged suicide bombers behind the attack on the Shangri La hotel has been identified as Islamic extremist Zahran Hashim.
However, Al-Jazeera journalist Saif Khalid suggested that even reporting Hashim’s name was “Islamophobic.”
“Indian media’s blatant Islamophobia at display,” tweeted Khalid.
Al-Jazeera is owned by the the government of Qatar and routinely promotes pro-Islamist perspectives, including the Muslim Brotherhood.
Hashim’s extremist lectures were also freely available on YouTube, leading Imam Mohamad Tawhidi to criticize the Google-owned video platform, which recently severely restricted Tommy Robinson’s presence.

Huff poblished an interview with Penny Lane concerning her documentary about the Satanic Temple, but it failed to note in the article that many of Lane’s claims about satanism, the Catholic Church and evangelical Christian leaders are doubtful at best.
The Verizon-owned outlet published Lane’s claims that theistic satanism is a myth created by the Catholic Church, that Vice President Mike Pence is a theocrat who would like to force Americans to obey the Bible and that satanism is a noble cause opposing the threat of evangelical Christianity in government.
The article failed to distinguish between theistic and nontheistic satanism and to note the recorded historical evidence for theistic satanism and claims the U.S. government has made Christianity the national religion.
HuffPost, a Verizon-owned media outlet, lavished unquestioning praise Thursday on satanism for
opposing evangelical Christianity and claimed satanism’s evil reputation was a Catholic myth.
The Thursday HuffPo piece “Satan Is Having A Moment” featured a Q&A with Penny Lane, director of the recently released documentary “Hail Satan?” about the Satanic Temple’s history.
Lane, however, made several dubious claims about satanism that HuffPo published without questioning in the article, including saying that theistic satanism is an imaginary construct of the Catholic Church and that Vice President Mike Pence would like to force Americans to obey a Christian theocracy.
“Satanists, it turns out, are everything you think they’re not: patriotic, charitable, ethical, equality-minded, dedicated to picking up litter with pitchforks on an Arizona highway,” the article reads.
The article claims Lane’s documentary “dispels myths about the history of satanism,” namely that satanism involves actual worship of and sacrifice to Satan, and that it surveys “the myriad ways our government has made Christianity the national religion.”
The piece fails to note, however, that despite Lane’s claim that satanism is an entirely atheistic philosophy, there also exists branches of theistic satanism in which followers do worship Satan or a satanic spiritual entity and engage in occult ritual magic. HuffPo instead allowed Lane’s claim that theistic satanism is an “elaborate fantasy on the part of the Catholic Church” to go unchecked.
“The entire history of satanism is one of projection,” Lane claimed. “Satanic panic is one example. All the way up until 1966, there were no people who called themselves satanists. Several scholars, including University of California at Santa Barbara Professor Emeritus Jeffrey Russell and French intellectual and author George Bataille, have contended that historical instances of theistic satanic practice can be found as far back as the 17th century, such as the French murders called the Affair of the Poisons. Theistic satanic practices also persist in current times in disparate groups like the Order of Nine Angles and the Temple of the Black Light.
Lane praised atheistic satanism as a tool to expose what she and leaders of the Satanic Temple believe to be the efforts of evangelical Christians to form America into a theocracy. Lane even went so far as to call Pence a “legitimate theocrat” in HuffPo’s article. Though beyond his known adherence to the Christian faith, she offered no evidence for that claim.
“Trump’s alliance with the evangelical community [has] none of the values but all of the power grab. It was very frightening for a lot of people, who ended up with people like Mike Pence, who is legitimately a theocrat,” Lane said in the article. “He would love for the Bible to be the document that we obey as Americans. Then, someone like [Education Secretary] Betsy DeVos: still super evangelical, loves prayer in school.”
Lane also described efforts to defend monuments of the Ten Commandments in front of courthouses and other government buildings as part of American history as “very chilling for me.” She argued that the Satanic Temple’s various lawsuits against local governments over prayers and monuments are necessary to stem what she said is a nationwide effort to insert evangelical Christianity into government.
“I didn’t know the extent to which there’s an organized, very well-funded, very effective lobbying happening nationwide. You don’t have to be paranoid to think, ‘Just because we have a liberal, secular democracy now doesn’t mean we will always,'” Lane said in the article. “It’s not saying it’s gonna happen tomorrow, but it has happened in the past. Iran was a secular nation [until 1980], when all a sudden, it became a theocracy. It’s something that awakened a kind of urgency in me.”
Lane also decried pop culture’s use of satanic symbols as icons of evil, such as the use of Baphomet on Netflix’s “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.” She argued that culture is malleable and that the meaning of symbols can change.
“That’s why they were so mad at ‘Sabrina’ when they ripped off the Baphomet monument and put it in that show as a monument that means evil,” Lane said. “They’re like, ‘We worked really hard to make that monument. All of our lawsuits were proposing a meaning for this monument. And if that monument ever did get installed on a statehouse lawn, the meaning of it would be religious diversity.'”
The article fails to note, however, that Baphomet originated as a symbol of evil in the 14th century and that the current image of Baphomet was created by the occultist Eliphas Levi in 1854 and is therefore steeped in occult connotation. The HuffPo interviewer also did not ask whether Lane would accept the same reasoning she offered concerning Baphomet for other symbols that most view as evil, like the swastika.

As explained by Matthew Jacobs, writing for the Verizon-owned The Huffington Post, avowed Satanist Penny Lane recently released her new documentary, Hail Satan?, which sets the tone for this new type of devil worship that’s sure to gain popularity for its fundamental “do as thou wilt” doctrines. Instead of adherents having to wear black clothing while chanting around pentagrams and the like, Lane’s version of Satanism allows for people to essentially do whatever they want, and whatever “feels” right – and is, perhaps, best represented by the six-colored “rainbow” flag of the LGBT Mafia, a popular image that symbolizes this new anything-goes acceptance of anything and everything, except for real Christianity.
“Satanists, it turns out, are everything you think they’re not: patriotic, charitable, ethical, equality-minded, dedicated to picking up litter with pitchforks on an Arizona highway,” Jacobs writes in his glowing endorsement of Lane’s brand of Satanism. “By reclaiming the pop iconography that has long frightened evangelical America – devil worship, ritualistic sacrifice, horns, pentagrams, the so-called Black Mass – the Satanic Temple aims to catch people’s attention and then surprise them with messages of free speech, compassion, liberty and justice for all,” he adds.
Satanism is tolerant of everyone, unless you trust in Christ as your Savior
There’s nothing off-limits within the realm of Satanism – except, of course, for believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and trusting in him for salvation. Christians, in other words, have no place within Satanism, nor will they be welcomed into the global Antichrist system that Lane and her fellow Satanists are chomping at the bit to see implemented by force.
While extolling the “virtues” of Satanism in terms of it supposedly propagating a dogma coexistence, Lane makes it clear that people like Vice President Mike Pence, who openly identifies as a Christian, are not to be coexisted with because, in her view, they’re trying to implement a Christian theocracy. Christianity cannot coexist with Satanism, in other words, and thus must be curb-stomped into oblivion – all in the name of “love,” of course.
This would seem to be the future of Satanism: a kinder, softer religious system of embracing the “real you” while coming together with everyone else, regardless of perceived differences, in order to tackle “problems” like “global warming” that supposedly affect the entire planet, and thus require a unified, all-is-one solution from the new global citizenry marching in lockstep under the “rainbow” banner of pride – pride being the very first sin that Satan cultivated into fruition back in the Garden of Eden.

Iran Threatens To Close Strait Of Hormuz If US Blocks Its Oil Exports

... Tehran has gone on the offensive and on Monday a senior Iranian military official said the Islamic Republic will close the Strait of Hormuz if it’s prevented from using it, the state-run Fars news agency reported.
"The Strait of Hormuz based on international law is a waterway and if we are prevented from using it, we will close it,” Reuters reported, citing Alireza Tangsiri, head of the revolutionary guards navy force.
Separately, the semi-official Tasnim news agency on Monday quoted an unnamed Iranian oil ministry source as saying that "whether the waivers continue or not, Iran’s oil exports will not be zero under any circumstances unless Iranian authorities decide to stop oil exports ... and this is not relevant now." The source added that "we have been monitoring and analyzing all possible scenarios and conditions for the advance of our country’s oil exports, and necessary measures have been taken ... Iran is not waiting for America’s decision or the lack of it to export its oil. We have years of experience in neutralizing efforts by enemies to strike blows against our country."

To be sure, this is not the first time Iran has made such a threat: back in December Iran warned it would close the global oil chokepoint, when it said that "if someday, the United States decides to block Iran’s oil (exports), no oil will be exported from the Persian Gulf."
President Rouhani's December threat had been welcomed by hardline clerics and military officials, including Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Revolutionary Guard’s elite Quds Force.
Previously, in early November, a prominent hardline cleric told a Friday prayer gathering in Mashhad, considered Iran's spiritual capital, that Iran has the power to "instantly" create conditions for $400 a barrel oil prices if it decides to act in the Persian Gulf. Shia cleric Ayatollah Ahmad Alamolhoda grabbed headlines at the time by declaring, "If Iran decides, a single drop of this region's oil will not be exported and in 90 minutes all Persian Gulf countries will be destroyed."
And during the prior summer, after similar threats were issued from Tehran the spokesman for the US military's Central Command, Captain Bill Urban, told the Associated Press that US sailors and its regional allies "stand ready to ensure the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce wherever international law allows".
The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow waterway carrying a fifth of the world’s traded oil that Iranian officials have threatened to block in retaliation for sanctions targeting the country’s nuclear program.
The U.S. has said it would move to stop any Iranian attempt to block the waterway.
As such, if Trump is indeed serious about not renewing Iran's export waivers, it may launch a sequence of events that culminated with regional war that pits Iran against the US, Israel, and Saudi Arabia. Whether or not Russia and China back Iran could mean the difference between a localized conflict and World War III.

US Pledges to Use Strait of Hormuz Amid Iran’s Threat to Close it - State Dept.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States has pledged that its military will fly and sail wherever the international law allows ensuring the safety of commercial and non-commercial traffic in response to Tehran’s warning to close the Strait of Hormuz, US Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook said in a press briefing on Tuesday.
"Iran on a fairly regular basis makes sort of extortionist threats and blackmail demands. This is part of the regular course of their business," Hook said. "They've threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz more times than I can count. The United States military will fly, sail and operate wherever international law allows, that's partly to ensure protection of the global commons so that it can be safe for commercial and noncommercial traffic."
The comment referred to the Monday's statement by the head of the Revolutionary Guard Corps navy force, Alireza Tangsiri, who said that Iran will close the Strait of Hormuz if the country is unable to use it, according to Fars News Agency.
The Strait of Hormuz, a narrow stretch of water between the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman, is considered one of the world's most important choke points for world oil supplies. More than 18 million barrels of oil pass through the narrow waterway each day, accounting for 30 percent of the world's oil shipments by sea, according to the US Energy Information Administration.
Iran's statement regarding the Strait of Hormuz came in response to the US decision to end its sanctions waivers for importers of Iranian oil starting on 2 May. Washington's aim is to eventually cut Iranian oil imports to zero, which is likely to have a significant impact on the country, where oil exports serve as one of the main sources of revenue.
Previously, US economic sanctions on Iran had been lifted as part of the nuclear agreement. But in May 2018 US President Donald Trump announced his country's withdrawal from the deal and the reinstatement of sanctions.

Volodymyr Zelenskiy, an actor and comedian with no political experience other than playing the role of president in a TV series, has won a landslide victory in Ukraine’s presidential election, with near-complete counting showing he has won over 70% of the vote.
The incumbent, Petro Poroshenko conceded defeat on Sunday evening before results started coming in.
According to official results released on Monday morning, with 85% of the vote counted, 41-year-old Zelenskiy had won 73.4% of the vote, compared to Poroshenko’s 24.4%.
“I’m leaving office, but I want to make it clear that I’m not leaving politics,” said Poroshenko, acknowledging his failure to win a second term. “I will accept the will of the Ukrainian people,” he wrote on Twitter.
Zelenskiy appeared in front of a crowd of journalists at his campaign headquarters as the polls closed and flashed an impish grin as he pushed his way on to the stage, accompanied by the theme tune to his television show.
“We did it together,” he said, thanking his wife, parents and campaign team. “Thanks to all the Ukrainian citizens who voted for me, and to all who didn’t. I promise I won’t mess up.”
The humiliating scale of the defeat for Poroshenko matched a series of polls over past weeks that have suggested Zelenskiy would win the runoff with ease.
The Zelenskiy camp said he had taken phone calls of congratulation from US president Donald Trump and French president Emmanuel Macron, among others.
Zelenskiy will take charge of a country facing numerous challenges, including a struggling economy and an ongoing war against Russia-backed separatist forces in the east that has claimed more than 13,000 lives.
He is best known for his role in the long-running Ukrainian television series Servant of the People, where he played a teacher unexpectedly elected to the presidency after an angry rant about corruption is posted online by his students.
During the campaign, he offered little information about his policies or plans for the presidency, relying on viral videos, standup comedy gigs and jokes in place of traditional campaigning.
His campaign blurred the lines between the real-life Zelenskiy and his on-screen persona. Like the fictional president of his television series, Zelenskiy has promised to clean up politics and end the stranglehold of the oligarchy over Ukraine, but he has offered little by way of specifics.
Concerns have been raised about his close links to the controversial oligarch Ihor Kolomoyskyi. He issued a denial after Poroshenko dubbed him a “Kolomoyskyi puppet” – although many members of Zelenskiy’s campaign team also have links to the oligarch.Journalists were offered free-flowing wine, a table tennis tournament and pumping music on Sunday evening at Zelenskiy’s campaign headquarters at a nightclub in an upmarket Kyiv business centre. However, there were no further details about his policies in his brief victory speech.
Zelenskiy has benefitted from voter dissatisfaction with Poroshenko, who came to office five years ago after the Maidan revolution. The billionaire confectionary magnate promised Ukrainians they would “live in a new way”, but the pace of change has been too slow for many.
The two candidates faced off in a chaotic televised debate at Kyiv’s Olympic Stadium on Friday evening, but the spectacle did not appear to change many minds. Poroshenko’s supporters tended to be worried about Zelenskiy’s lack of experience and potentially more amenable attitude towards Russia, while backers of Zelenskiy insisted that Poroshenko’s first term had been a failure and that he did not deserve another chance.
Voting on Sunday took place across the country, from the Carpathian mountains in the west to the war-torn Donbass region in the east, where soldiers on the frontline had an opportunity to cast their ballots.
“My nephew has been on the frontline in Donbass; what kind of country would put a clown in charge of its armed forces during a war?” asked Tetiana Hrytsenko, 61, who cast her ballot for Poroshenko on Sunday morning in Kyiv. A group of young people emerging from the same polling station said they had all voted for Zelenskiy.
There was little enthusiasm on display for either candidate, with most voters opting for the candidate they considered the least-worst option.
“It’s like when you go to a cheap supermarket and all of the fruit is rotten, and you rummage around to find the least rotten piece,” said Anna, 32, an office manager who said she had waited hours in line to register for voting papers. On Sunday morning, she had still not decided which candidate she would vote for.
After voting in Kyiv, Zelenskiy was admonished by police for showing his ballot paper to the cameras. Displaying the ballot is illegal under Ukrainian law, and he now faces a fine of up to £24.
“As a citizen of Ukraine I can say to all post-Soviet countries: ‘Look at us. Everything is possible’,” he said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un have now arrived at the venue of their first-ever face-to-face meeting. The summit is taking place on Russky Island off Vladivostok.
The much-anticipated meeting of the two leaders has drawn huge media attention. About 300 accredited journalists flooded the venue, the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) campus, to cover the historic summit. The two leaders shook hands in front of the building before proceeding inside for a greeting ceremony with accompanying officials and sitting down for a chat.
Kim's armored train arrived on Wednesday, a day before Putin flew in from the Siberian city of Chita.
Earlier, Kremlin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the first one-on-one meeting between Kim and Putin would last no longer than an hour and would be followed by consultations featuring officials from both countries.
The main topic on the agenda will be the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, the issue that has become a bone of contention between Washington and Pyongyang with the latest Trump-Kim summit in February in Hanoi falling apart without a breakthrough.
Among other items on the table are bilateral relations between Russia and North Korea, including their political, economic and humanitarian aspects.
Kim’s late father, Kim Jong-il, visited Russia back in 2011, shortly before the current leader of North Korea took over.

Theresa May has been warned that she is presiding over the ‘death of the Tory Party’ after a devastating poll revealed the immense scale of the grassroots revolt against her.
The exclusive Mail on Sunday survey shows that an astonishing 40 per cent of Conservative councillors are planning to vote for Nigel Farage’s new Brexit Party in May’s European elections, in protest at the Prime Minister’s failure to conclude the UK’s exit from the EU.
Three-quarters of her own councillors want Mrs May to resign – and an overwhelming 96 per cent believe that the Tory Party has been damaged by the impasse.

Conservative MPs preparing to return to the Commons after the Easter break have been shaken by the strength of feeling in their local associations over Mrs May’s leadership, after she agreed to delay Brexit until the end of October if she cannot strike a deal.
Such is the scale of the anger that the party’s 1922 Committee of backbench MPs will convene on Tuesday to discuss changing the rules to allow a new vote of no confidence in her leadership. Mrs May is currently protected from a challenge until December following a failed coup last year.
The Tory group on Derbyshire County Council is so disillusioned that it has gone on ‘strike’ by refusing to take any part in next month’s European election campaign.
The Survation researchers were bombarded with vitriolic remarks by the hundreds of councillors they contacted for the MoS poll.
One said: ‘The Conservative Party is dead. It will take a strong leader to dredge it out of the mud’.
Another said: ‘For God’s sake get on with it [Brexit] – it is killing us on the doorstep.’
The turmoil engulfing the Government has made Jeremy Corbyn the most likely victor of the next General Election, according to a string of recent opinion polls, prompting Whitehall mandarins to ratchet up their preparations for a Labour Government.
As this newspaper reveals today, Mr Corbyn plans to ‘boycott’ Downing Street and remain living in his North London home if he becomes Prime Minister. Officials in charge of transition arrangements have made plans to allow that to happen. A source close to the Labour leader confirmed he is ‘seriously considering’ the idea – to the dismay of aides and police and security advisers.
Mr Farage only launched his Brexit Party earlier this month, but one poll last week put its support for the European Parliament elections at 27 per cent – well ahead of both Labour, on 22 per cent, and the Tories, who were stuck on 15 per cent. The new party is estimated to have already received more than £1.5 million in donations.
Our poll shows if Boris Johnson was Tory leader for the elections, the number of defectors to the Brexit Party would nearly halve.
Out of those Tory councillors who said they were certain to vote in the elections, 52 per cent said they would vote for their own party, while 40 per cent would vote for the Brexit Party.
If Mr Johnson was Prime Minister, the proportion voting Tory would rise to 65 per cent and 22 per cent would vote for Mr Farage.
Out of the 96 per cent of councillors who believe that the Brexit deadlock has damaged the Tories, 39 per cent believe it has done so ‘permanently’. A total of 76 per cent of the councillors want Mrs May to resign: of these, 43 per cent want her to go now while 33 per cent want her to go only after a deal has been reached.
A slew of rivals are preparing campaigns for the moment when Mrs May does step down as leader.
Mr Johnson tops the grassroots rankings on 23 per cent, ahead of Michael Gove on 14 per cent, Jeremy Hunt on 12 per cent, Sajid Javid on 11 per cent and Dominic Raab on 9 per cent.
But if Mr Farage is included as an option for Tory leader, he would beat everyone except Mr Johnson, who is on 19 per cent to Mr Farage’s 15 per cent.
The six-month Brexit extension granted to Mrs May has infuriated the Tory grassroots. Of the councillors questioned in our poll, 64 per cent voted Leave in 2016.
The language used by many of the councillors will shock Downing Street, with a number describing the current situation as ‘the end of the Conservative Party’.
Survation founder Damian Lyons Lowe said: ‘Conservative councillors are an influential and important indicator of the party’s grassroots support. Out of those who will cast a vote, almost half will not vote Conservative, underlining the deep divisions over Europe and the difficulty the party will have in getting out the vote for the forthcoming elections’.

The Rothschild family is offering up a vast trove of furniture and artefacts once owned by European monarchs for auction at Christie's in London.
The main attraction is a pair of inlaid, Flemish-made giltwood cabinets commissioned circa 1713 by King Philip V of Spain, which are estimated to fetch a price of £1.5 — £2.5 million. A mahogany writing desk made for Marie Antoinette circa 1780 by Jean-Henri Riesener, the French queen's favourite cabinet maker, may fetch as much as £1 million.
The controversial banking dynasty is renowned for buying up the most expensive and lavish antiques — for instance, after the 1789 French Revolution many pieces from the Palace of Versailles entered their collection. The family's style — dubbed ‘le gout Rothschild' — has influenced many wealthy American families, including the Astors, Rockefellers, and Vanderbilts.
Buyers from all over the world — including Russia, Asia and the Middle East — are said to be interested, perhaps a result of the rarity of such auctions. The Rothschilds rarely offer up pieces from their vast reserves for sale. The last time a sizeable collection came up for auction was 1999, when antiques owned by barons Nathaniel and Albert von Rothschild were sold by Christie's. A royal commode by Riesener fetched £7 million, and is now on view at Versailles.
The auction house declined to say which family members are selling up this time round, and why.
