THE TSE 2015 PATH OF TOTALITY
A truly remarkable, but geographically remote, total solar eclipse (TSE) will occur on 20 March 2015 with the Sun on the celestial equator at the vernal equinox, as the Moon's umbral shadow traverses a narrow path for 1 hour and 5 minutes over the North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans, spectacularly ending with a blackened sunrise at the geographic North Pole. The path of totality, the region on the Earth's surface where the Sun will be totally obscured by the Moon, begins at sunrise over the cold waters of the north Atlantic Ocean 650 km east of Newfoundland where the eclipse centreline then at 09:13 UT is 600 km is south of the southern tip of Greenland. The path then sweeps north eastward passing, but missing, the east coast of Iceland in route, literally, to the "top" of the world at the North geographic pole.

The total solar eclipse on March 20th falls on Nisan 1, which is the first day of the first month of the Biblical calendar. According to Jewish tradition, a solar eclipse on Nisan 1 is a sign of judgment. And this has certainly been true in the past. For example, there was a solar eclipse on Nisan 1 in 70 AD. Later that year, the Romans attacked Jerusalem and completely destroyed the Temple. What makes all of this even more interesting is the fact that the solar eclipse on March 20th falls right in the middle of the blood moon tetrad, and it also happens to fall during the Shemitah year. If you are not a believer, you may be tempted to dismiss all of this as some sort of extremely bizarre coincidence. If you are a believer, you also might be skeptical. But by the end of this article, at least you will understand what so many people are talking about right now.
In the Scriptures, we are told that God created the sun and the moon, and that he intended for them to act as “signs”. The following comes from Genesis chapter one…
14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
So specifically how can the sun and moon be “signs” as God originally intended?
Well, one minister has discovered that eclipses on important Biblical dates have been associated with key world events throughout history. His name is Pastor Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries, and he has pointed out that total eclipses do not take place on any other planet in our solar system…
Total eclipses don’t take place on any other known planet, point out intelligent-design scientists. They only take place on Earth, the finely tuned planet where life exists that can actually view them. Biltz points out that the Bible says in Genesis that the sun, moon and stars were created specifically as signs for mankind, so His creation would know about the feasts (or appointed times) to have relationship with their Creator.
A number of years ago, Pastor Biltz discovered that a series of four blood moon eclipses would occur on important Biblical dates during 2014 and 2015. This kind of “blood moon tetrad” is very rare. It fact, it has only happened seven times before since the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. This current blood moon tetrad is the eighth occurrence.
And according to Jewish tradition, blood red moons are an omen of war for Israel. The following comes from my previous article on the blood red moons…
Is Israel going to be involved in a war during the blood red moons of 2014 and 2015? According to ancient Jewish tradition, a lunar eclipse is a harbinger of bad things for Israel. If that eclipse is blood red, that is a sign that war is coming. And blood red moons that happen during Biblical festivals seem to be particularly significant. There was a “tetrad” of blood red moons that fell during Passover 1967, the Feast of Tabernacles 1967, Passover 1968 and the Feast of Tabernacles 1968. And of course the 1967 war during which Israel took full control of Jerusalem took place during that time period. There was also a “tetrad” of blood red moons that fell during Passover 1949, the Feast of Tabernacles 1949, Passover 1950 and the Feast of Tabernacles 1950. If you know your history, you already are aware that the Israeli War of Independence ended on July 20th, 1949. So does the blood red moon tetrad of 2014 and 2015 signal that another season of war is now upon us?
We already witnessed a war between Israel and Hamas in 2014, but personally I am convinced that more war could soon come to the Middle East.
But what I want to talk about now is the total solar eclipse that is coming up on March 20th. The chart below comes from propheciesoftheendtimes.com, and it shows that it falls right in the middle of this series of blood red moons…
As I mentioned above, when a solar eclipse falls on Nisan 1 it is traditionally considered to be a sign that judgment is coming to the world…
“Our Rabbis taught, when the sun is in eclipse, it is a bad omen for the whole world. This may be illustrated by a parable. To what can this be compared? To a human being who made a banquet for his servants and put up for them a lamp. When he became wroth with them he said to his servant, ‘Take away the lamp from them, and let them sit in the dark’. It was taught: R. Meir said, whenever the luminaries [moon] are in eclipse, it is a bad omen for Israel since they are inured to blows. This may be compared to a school teacher who comes to school with a strap in his hand. Who becomes apprehensive? He who is accustomed to be daily punished. Our Rabbis taught, When the sun is in eclipse it is a bad omen for idolaters; when the moon is in eclipse, it is a bad omen for Israel, since Israel reckons by the moon and idolaters by the sun…”

Of course Jewish tradition is not Scripture, but it is very interesting to note.
And what we do know is that we have seen this kind of pattern before.
On Nisan 1 in 70 AD, there was a total solar eclipse. But that was not the only eclipse during that time period. In fact, there were a whole series of eclipses that took place on key Biblical dates before and after the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem.

March 30, 70 AD (Nisan 1): total solar eclipse
April 14, 70 AD (Passover): penumbral lunar eclipse

October 8, 70 AD (Sukkot): penumbral lunar eclipse
March 4, 71 AD (Purim): partial lunar eclipse
March 20, 71 AD (Nisan 1): hybrid solar eclipse
September 12, 71 AD (Rosh Hashanah): hybrid solar eclipse
Now we find ourselves in the middle of a similar series of eclipses.
So could it be possible that this total eclipse on March 20th is a sign of judgment?
Or is all of this just a giant coincidence?
Either way, at least now you understand what so many people are talking about.

Jewish Temple Altar Rebuilt, Ready for Use

The Temple Institute in Jerusalem has announced that it has finished building an altar suitable for the Temple service. The altar, which took several years to build, can be operational at little more than a moment’s notice, reported Matzav Haruach magazine.

The Temple Institute is committed to preparing all the necessary clothing and tools for the rebuilt Holy Temple in Jerusalem. In addition, the institute operates an educational center for visitors and a preparatory training program for members of the priestly family who wish to be ready to serve as soon as the Temple is rebuilt.

The altar is a central component to the Biblical sacrificial service. In fact, there were separate altars for the incense and for other sacrifices.

The larger altar sat in the outer courtyard of the Tabernacle, and later the Temple. It was approximately five meters (16 feet) tall and 16 meters (52.5 feet) wide, with four “horns”, or raised corners, and a ramp.

According to the Bible, the altar may not be made out of stones hewn by metal implements. The altar prepared by the Temple Institute, under the direction of architect Rabbi Shmuel Balsam, follows this requirement.

It is constructed instead from bricks fired at roughly 1,000 degrees Celsius (1,832 degrees Fahrenheit), to withstand the immense heat of the Temple’s eternal flame and the weight of the sacrificial animals. Its measurements conform to the interpretation of Maimonides.

What makes the altar so unique is that it can be disassembled and reassembled easily, allowing it to be transported quickly and efficiently from its current location, on display at the institute, to the Temple Mount when the time comes. It was inaugurated in December 2014 and is now ready for use. With Passover around the corner, and the Passover sacrifice a central component of the traditional celebration, perhaps that time will come soon!

Dig’ digs into the Bible — but is it ‘true’?

(RNS) Breathlessly describing his new USA Network series “Dig” in a promo, leading man Jason Isaacs promises “everything is based on reality and true.”

To a point.

The new series, which premiered Thursday (March 5), moves quickly between multiple story lines and locations, bouncing off prophesies and spinning conspiracies around the Second Coming of Christ, the Book of Revelation and the restoration of the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem, where much of the series is filmed.

Throw in a high priest’s magical breastplate, a spotless red heifer and a doomsday Christian group living in a bunker and the series becomes the would-be love-child of Steven Spielberg and Dan Brown.

And that’s just the first episode.

Isaacs — a British actor best known to American fans as Lucius Malfoy in the “Harry Potter” films — says in the promo he expects the first episode to send viewers rushing to the Internet to “find out more.”

The show has some good television history behind it. Tim Kring (“Heroes”) and Gideon Raff (“Homeland”) are its executive producers. But “Dig” promises something more than its predecessors: Its cocktail of biblical prophecy and contemporary conspiracy looks to have a twist of the supernatural that will, as one character predicts, “threaten everything we believe in.”

So what’s “true” and what’s fiction in “Dig”? Here’s some background on the main prophesies, theories and biblical references touched on in the first hour of the show:

Red heifer

“Dig” opens in a barn in Norway where an ultra-Orthodox rabbi examines a newborn red calf. In the Bible, God tells Moses to command the Israelites to “bring thee a red heifer without spot, wherein is no blemish, and upon which never came a yoke.”

True, many Ultra-Orthodox Jews believe such a calf must be found and sacrificed before the Messiah can come and rebuild the Jewish Temple. This so-called “Third Temple” is prophesied in the Book of Ezekiel as the place God will live. And there are real-life farmers genetically engineering the birth of such cows outside of Israel, and many contemporary Jews pray for the eventual restoration of the Temple.

The Ark of the Covenant

The (young, hot, female) archaeologist Emma Wilson tells FBI agent Peter Connelly (Isaacs) she is involved in a dig to uncover the Ark of the Covenant, the golden chest that is supposed to contain the original tablets of the Ten Commandments. Wilson and her colleagues expect to find the Ark in a series of tunnels under the Temple Mount.

There are actual tunnels under the Temple Mount, a site sacred to Jews, Christians and Muslims and a place where they often come into conflict, and the theory that the Ark is under there somewhere is a real one. And, true, digs under the Temple Mount are forbidden by authorities for fear of compromising the foundation of the Dome of the Rock, the golden domed mosque seen in background shots through much of “Dig.” And a warning — find the Ark and your face might melt off, a la the Nazis in “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”

High priest’s breastplate

Some sinister person in “Dig” has stolen a priceless golden breastplate from a Jerusalem museum, kicking off car chases, clandestine meetings and perhaps a murder. When a devout Jewish character gets a glimpse of the stolen item, he begins praying and says, “This is the Urim ve Thummim,” an item described in the Old Testament as being able to communicate with God.

There is a priestly breastplate described in Exodus, and the one in “Dig” bears a close resemblance. It is square and has a series of 12 bricklike gemstones (they are missing!), one for each of the twelve tribes of Israel. But “Dig” makes a bit of a stumble here — the Urim and Thummim were not the actual plate itself, but separate tools of divination supposedly held in a pouch behind the breastplate. Characters in “Dig” assert that the breastplate can be used to “talk to God.”

And here’s a bonus factoid “Dig” doesn’t mention — yet. Mormons know the Urim and Thummim as two of the tools their prophet Joseph Smith said he used to translate the Book of Mormon from the golden plates he is supposed to have found in the woods of upstate New York.

There are other real people, actual places and facts “Dig” draws on. Yes, there are multiple, independent Christian groups that place the Book of Revelation at the center of their theology, and some of them are (or were, in the case of the Branch Davidians) located in the American Southwest. There are warm, ongoing relationships between some Christian and Jewish groups that expect the end of the world to come soon.

But are there currently desert-bound cults that are producing little boys in the hopes one will become the Messiah? Are bands of the ultra-Orthodox roaming the tunnels below the Temple Mount and slaughtering lambs in their wake? And more importantly, is there a mikvah — a Jewish ritual bath — under the Temple Mount being used as a coed hot tub?

Probably not. But it’s fun to watch and think about for an hour a week.

Can Pope Francis prevent a holy war?

Discussions ricochet around Pope Francis’ ability to reconcile the Catholic Church’s bureaucracy, theology and practitioners. But for a man of Francis’ scope and skill, this is too narrow an assignment. His real task, for which he is ideally situated, is to prevent the world’s descent into religious war.

There are 1.3 billion followers of Islam scattered around the world, and an ambitious Gallup poll of Muslims in 35 heavily Muslim countries found that the vast majority of them did not approve of the 9/11 attacks.

Significantly, those who condemned the attacks based their opposition to violence mainly on religion, while the 7 percent who considered them “completely justified” relied heavily on political arguments. How can we blame the Muslim religion for this horror?

Pope Francis has long recognized the honorable aspects of Islam. When he expressed sympathy for Muslims who defend the Quran as “a book of peace” and prayed in the Blue Mosque of Istanbul facing Mecca, he was drawing on long ties with Muslim believers. As archbishop of Buenos Aires, he visited the Islamic Center in his city, wrote a greeting in the visitor book using the Muslim prayer-title for God (“I give thanks to God, the Merciful”) and became a friend of the center’s president. He is a man with deep personal connections to other religious leaders, and he is able to discern the varying strands and historical stages of their faiths.

It would be foolish and dangerous to limit our views of Islam to what one group of fundamentalists sees when it looks at another group of fundamentalists. This creates a mirroring effect by which enemies come to resemble each other. Those who believe that we are in a “religious war,” like Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, summon us to a holy war against Muslims whose supposed crime is that they wage holy wars.

Since fundamentalists see only their own and others’ fundamentalism, those who point to a deeper message of peace present on the other side are said to have defected from their own tradition, as when President Barack Obama and Pope Francis recognize the admirable parts of Muslim scripture, history and practice. When Obama noted that our own religious tradition has had violence in its history, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee intoned: “Everything he does is against what Christians stand for...The one group of people that can know they have his undying, unfailing support would be the Muslim community.”

The pope has advantages in this area that the president does not. Huckabee was pandering to those who have always considered Obama a Muslim, but even crazy people do not claim that Francis was born in Kenya. And Francis, as a religious leader, is better able to draw spiritual conclusions about Islam.

He can unite all believers in the One God — something other popes could not or would not do. When Pope Benedict XVI tried at the University of Regensburg in 2006 to open a dialogue with Muslims, he did it so clumsily that riots and killings resulted. He lacked the experience and personal ties that Francis has developed with Muslims.

All popes must be diplomats, since Catholics exist in many different cultures and nations. But past popes had less room to maneuver than Francis has.

This pope can condemn the violent minority of Muslims (in the Islamic State, for instance) while cultivating the sophisticated and scholarly Muslims he knows well.

As Francis said in his most important papal statement so far, The Joy of the Gospel: “Authentic Islam and the proper reading of the Quran are opposed to every form of violence.” The ability to recognize the better angels of another religion is very useful for recruiting help and alliances with the holy majority of that religion.

Those who dismiss large numbers of Muslim believers as “Islamofascists” make enemies of people who would prefer to be our friends.

All modern popes have called for peace in the world. But Francis has a special chance to use his religious office to prevent religious war. Any war for religion conflicts with the peaceful traditions of Jews, Catholics, Protestants, Muslims, Mormons and others. Francis has earned a special credibility in reminding us of that important truth.

Fossil Suggests Egyptian Pyramids and Sphinx Once Submerged Under Sea Water

The universe is full of mysteries that challenge our current knowledge. In "Beyond Science" Epoch Times collects stories about these strange phenomena to stimulate the imagination and open up previously undreamed of possibilities. Are they true? You decide.

The entire landscape of the Giza Necropolis, including the pyramids and the Sphinx, shows erosion that some say suggests the area was once submerged by sea water. A unique fossil amplifies this theory.

Archaeologist Sherif El Morsi has worked extensively on the Giza Plateau for over two decades, and in 2013 he partnered with Giza for Humanity founder and fellow researcher Antoine Gigal to publish his controversial discovery of this fossil.

Dr. Robert M. Schloch was one of the first scientists to really tackle the subject of the plateau structures being older than previously thought. In the early 1990s, he suggested the Sphinx was thousands of years older than typically believed, going back to 5000–9000 B.C., based on water erosion patterns found both on the statue and the surrounding rock.

Morsi has been digging deeper into the mystery ever since. During one of his photo shoots documenting the erosion patterns of many of the megaliths in the area, he made a discovery that further suggests the area was submerged at one time.

“During my photo shoot of this ancient seashore line, I nearly tripped off a second level temple block,” said Mr. Morsi in an article published on the Gigal Research website. “To my surprise, the bulge on the top surface of the block that nearly made me trip was a petrified exoskeleton of what seems to be an echinoid (sea urchin), which is a shallow sea marine creature.”

Morsi believes the Giza Plateau was once inundated by a sea surge. The Menkara temple site, in particular, may have once been an ancient lagoon when the high sea covered the Necropolis, the Sphinx, the temple complexes, and other sites.

Other scientists have suggested the echinoid in the limestone was exposed by erosion and the creature was part of the original limestone that formed 30 million years ago. But, Morsi countered those claims and suggested that the creature was cemented, or petrified, in a relatively more recent time, citing evidence that the creature is lying gravitationally flat, that it’s in pristine condition, that it is within the intertidal range of the lagoon, and that it is a large specimen unlike the tiny specimens typically found in limestone blocks.

“We can clearly see the pristine condition and minute details of the exoskeleton perforation,” continued Morsi, “which means that this marine creature must have petrified from recent times. It is not a body fossil as most fossils are that date back to 30 million years, but petrified by the sediment deposits that have filled its hollow.”

The inundation, Morsi believes, was rather significant, reaching a maximum of about 245 feet (75 meters) over the current sea level and creating a shoreline spanning the Khafra enclosure near the Sphinx to the Menkara temple. Pitting and tidal notches due to waves and tidal ebbing pepper the stones in this area showing a 6.5-foot (2-meter) intertidal range, according to Morsi.

Moreover, at sites such as the Sphinx, the Sphinx temple, and the first 20 courses of the Great Pyramid, the stones are said to exhibit erosion due to deeper water saturation. On temple blocks, there are sediment and alluvial, or material, deposits seen in shallow sea beds and lagoons. As water recedes, it creates an oozing spongy effect in the rock.

For an echinoid to reach 3 inches (8 centimeters), the size of the fossil, it would take about 15 years. Furthermore the amount of sediments and alluvium deposits as well as the intertidal erosion on the shallower areas would takes centuries, suggesting the area was flooded for quite some time.

However, it’s difficult to determine the exact year of the flooding. Over the past 140,000 years, the sea levels have fluctuated by more than 400 feet (120 meters), as major ice-sheets have grown and receded during glacial cycles, according to CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research

Upcoming ‘Supermoon’ eclipse will dazzle Britain, but hit Europe’s power grids hard

This spring should reward plenty of star-gazers, especially in Britain, which will experience its deepest solar eclipse in 15 years, as well as a Supermoon, all at the same time – an event that will sink the island into twilight for two whole hours.

The Supermoon eclipse, as the phenomenon is known, is an astronomical alignment where the Moon is sent on a trajectory between the Sun and the Earth, depriving us of light. The event will occur on March 20 at around 8:40GMT.

Scotland will have it best though, with a whopping 98 percent of the sky darkened, compared to about 85 percent for the south of England. For best results the Scottish need to look up starting 9:36 am.

Other areas in Britain will only get around 30 percent.

Similar events took place in 2006, 2008 and 2011, but neither of them can touch the upcoming Supermoon eclipse, except an event that occurred in 1999.

We’ll have to wait three years for the next one in 2018. However, only 2026 will present us with a deep solar eclipse once again. As for the magnitude, it won’t be until 2090 that we get to see anything like the 1999 and upcoming March 20 events.

Whenever particularly striking displays take place, it is because the Moon is close to the Earth. According to Dr Edward Bloomer of the Royal Observatory at Greenwich, the March eclipse will see the Moon closer to us than it has been in more than 18 years.

“The Earth is orbiting around the Sun and sometimes is slightly closer and sometimes further away, and the Earth is also wobbling around on its axis,” the Telegraph cites him as saying.

“Likewise the orbit of the Moon around the Earth is elliptical and slightly tilted so it’s rare for the Sun, Earth and Moon to actually line up,” he also said. And when the Moon’s orbit is as close as possible to the Earth’s, we have a total eclipse, Bloomer explains.

That’s when the Supermoon appears, and that is what will take place in Britain in a few days, as our satellite appears to us as an enormous black, glowing orb, shortly before March 20.

The only thing the Brits have to worry about is weather. It can potentially ruin their viewing experience, with the possibility of clouds and rain.

But if skies are clear, another treat for everyone will be the moon itself. With such proximity and lighting conditions, a pair of binoculars will give the viewer surface details that could never be seen with the naked eye.

However, it’s not just the fun factor of such events that is attracting attention. The Brits are afraid it might cause power grid failures as well. The National Grid says around 50 percent of power will be lost throughout the morning hours later in March.

But Britain will remain relatively unscathed, compared to its European neighbors, where up to 10 percent of energy is generated sustainably, meaning they depend more on the sun. According to the UK’s energy body, only 1.5 percent of power there is generated by solar panels. And since people will be going out in droves to watch the spectacle, energy consumption should drop almost at the same time the shortages will strike, it says.

The European Network Transmission System Operators for Electricity says, according to the Independent, “with the increase of installed photovoltaic energy generation, the risk of an incident could be serious without appropriate countermeasures.”

"Within 30 minutes the solar power production would decrease from 17.5 gigawatts to 6.2GW and then increase again up to 24.6GW. This means that within 30 minutes the system will have to adapt to a load change of -10GW to +15GW," said Patrick Graichen, executive director of the Berlin-based think-tank on renewable energy Agora Energiewende, as cited by the Financial Times.

While the world is only hearing about the Supermoon eclipse now, energy companies have been preparing for the event for months in advance, some in Europe setting up contingency measures for extracting energy from other power stations.

Experts predict that precautionary methods will only increase with time, as more solar energy becomes increasingly commonplace.

Utah officers say mysterious voice called them to rescue baby trapped inside car

Four police officers rushing to an overturned car in an icy Utah river say they all heard the same thing: a mysterious female voice calling out “Help,” from inside the vehicle.

But the driver of the car was dead and her 18-month-old daughter, while still alive, couldn’t have been the speaker.

It was a mystery that continues to haunt the officers – and may never be explained.

Officer Jared Warner of the Spanish Fork Police Department was one of the first who came to the rescue of tiny Lily Groesback, who was strapped in a seat in the back of her mother’s car, which was precariously hanging upside down in 40-degree water.

“We’ve gotten together and just talk about it and all four of us can swear that we heard somebody inside the car saying, ‘Help,’” Warner told Deseret News.

But when they flipped over the midsized car, they discovered a 25-year-old woman dead in the front seat and Lily unconscious in her car seat.

“The only people in there were the deceased mother and the child,” Officer Bryan Dewitt told the paper.

Officer Tyler Beddoes said they can't explain it, but have no doubt they heard it.

"It wasn't just something that was just in our heads. To me it was plain as day cause I remember hearing a voice," Beddoes told the Deseret News. "I think it was Dewitt who said, 'We're trying. We're trying our best to get in there.' How do you explain that? I don't know," he said.

Nobody knows exactly how the infant survived hanging upside down for nearly 14 hours in her car seat with no food or water. As she dangled, icy water rushed just below her head through broken car windows as the vehicle sat perched on the bank and rocks. The temperatures were near freezing throughout the night and through the morning.

"It's heartbreaking. Was she crying most the night?" said Beddoes, a 30-year-old father of two. "It's a miracle. . . She was needed for sure elsewhere."

Police believe the accident occurred when the baby's mother, 25-year-old Lynn Groesbeck, struck a cement barrier on a bridge and careened into the river late Friday in Spanish Fork, about 50 miles south of Salt Lake City.

She was driving to her home in Springville after visiting her parents in Salem, Spanish Fork police Lt. Matt Johnson said. Investigators don't know what caused the crash, he said. There were no skid marks or signs of mechanical failures in the car.

Police don't suspect drugs or alcohol as a factor but are awaiting toxicology test results. Maybe Lynn Groesbeck was tired or distracted, Johnson said, adding authorities weren't ruling anything out.

Beddoes said the family has thanked him and the other officers for helping to save little Lily. As he recalls the events of those chaotic moments, on a frigid but sunny day, Beddoes still can't believe the girl survived — and still can't make sense of that undeniable voice coming from the car.

"We all got together and we all heard the same type of thing," Beddoes said. "We just can't grasp what we were hearing."

Christian chaplain fired for preaching compassion and love over violence of American Sniper

On February 10th, MidAmerica Nazarene University’s (MNU) chaplain Randy Beckum gave his morning sermon, which wasn’t unusual – it was his job. But what was different that day was the response to the sermon – as one student paper put it, the sermon sparked an “outcry” and a torrent of criticism particularly on social media. The criticism ranged from complaints that Beckum had politicized his sermons to the idea that he had insulted Christians who served in the military.

What was this controversial sermon that Beckum gave?

Beckum’s sermon that day was about America’s addiction to violence, citing the film “American Sniper” as a symptom of that, and how this was problematic for Christianity, a religion founded on the ideals of nonviolence. Here’s an excerpt:

As you know two movies came out recently. Selma, the story of one of the 20th century most influential Christian leaders, Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., who led a non-violent movement that changed the course of American History forever. And American Sniper, the story of the most deadly Navy SEAL sniper in American history. Selma has made 29-30 million so far. American Sniper made over 103 million in the first 4 days. Gives you an idea about who our heroes are. I don’t think it is an under-statement to say that our culture is addicted to violence, guns, war, revenge and retaliation. Unfortunately, so are a lot of Christians.

He went on to say that we have to “be very careful about equating patriotism with Christianity,” and implored his flock to be “controlled by love, compelled by love for everyone.”

Shortly after Beckum’s sermon, it was announced that he would no longer be the vice president of the university’s Community Foundation. Although the university president claimed Beckum had previously expressed interest in stepping down from that position, his daughter disputes this assertion.

Many in the MNU community are wondering if Beckum was “punished” for his pro-peace sermon, and the timing of his dismissal as VP of the community foundation seems to validate those concerns. “Even the people that were frustrated with what (Beckum) had to say in chapel, or wanted to challenge it, were confused and almost offended by the demotion,” said Kristi Rose Jackson, who was elected to be student body president.Sadly, it appears that MNU may have given into the furor and decided that a Christian clergyman preaching the peace the founder of the faith stood for is simply too controversial for their campus.

Homeowners should consider fitting CCTV to trap burglars, the country's most senior police officer declared yesterday.

Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe said police forces needed more crime scene footage to match against their 12million images of suspects and offenders.

And he called on families and businesses to install cameras at eye level – to exploit advances in facial recognition technology.

But privacy campaigners condemned the Metropolitan Police Commissioner's suggestion.

'The proposals on increasing the amount of privately owned CCTV cameras are quite frankly Orwellian and risk turning members of the public into an extension of the police,' said Renate Samson of Big Brother Watch.

'Private CCTV is completely unregulated. Recommending greater use of CCTV to gather more images of people's faces – often innocent people's faces – undermines the security of each and every one of us.'

She pointed out that a House of Commons committee had on Saturday released a report on the problems with facial recognition.

Labour MP Andrew Miller said: 'We were alarmed to discover that the police have begun uploading custody photographs of people to the police national database and using facial recognition software without any regulatory oversight. Some of the people had not even been charged.'

Sir Bernard said most cameras were mounted high to keep them out of harm's way and to give an overview of a crime area.

He was speaking after Beverley Turner, wife of Olympic rower James Cracknell, challenged him on LBC Radio on whether CCTV could be used to catch burglars.

Her house was burgled while she and her children were sleeping and footage from a neighbour's CCTV camera was too grainy to identify the thieves.

The Metropolitan Police Commissioner said Britain needed more cameras to help fight crime and urged people to think about installing them

When Miss Turner asked if more cameras were needed in homes and businesses, Sir Bernard replied: 'Yes. We've got a strategy to encourage people to move their cameras down to eye level.

'Facial recognition software has got better, and we can now apply it to images of burglaries, and then compare them with images we take when we arrest people.

'What we need to be able to do is to be able to compare that photograph with the images we have of people committing a crime.

'Taking the tops of their heads is not that helpful for facial recognition which relies on the eyes and the configuration of the area around the nose and the mouth. So we're trying to get people to, ideally, add a camera at face level.

'If anyone listening has a business, think about installing a new one – they're relatively cheap. If you can't buy one, could you think about moving it?' Covert cameras disguised as clocks, clothes hooks, mirrors and even thermometers can be bought for as little as £40.

They have been responsible for an avalanche of 'peeping Tom' prosecutions involving footage taken in changing rooms, offices and toilets.

Many bookmakers use them to identify robbers or fraudsters.The Green peer Baroness Jones said it was wrong to encourage householders to follow suit. 'It threatens to undermine people's confidence and inject fear in the place where they should feel most secure,' she said.

'I'm not sure it will make anyone feel any safer and the use of facial recognition technology remains largely untested and unproven.'

Research from the College of Policing last week revealed CCTV only modestly cuts crimes such as vandalism and car theft and is useless in stopping violence.Experts said better street lighting and neighbourhood watch schemes were more valuable.

Its hard writing this in the dark, under the covers, curled up in a fetal position. I’m trying to deny reality, but my head is about to explode. Liberty has been slipping through our American fingers like sand for the last several decades. But in the last week it began flowing away like the Mississippi River.

In the last several years we have seen nationalizing of all student loans – I even have to fill out a federal financial statement for a no-repay academic scholarship my son receives from a private college. We’ve seen banning of homemade lunches, banning of bake sales and outlawing of Thomas Edison’s light bulb. We are no longer free to sell homegrown produce without state intervention, and in my great agricultural state of Iowa raw milk is illegal. (And it’s a federal offense to bring it in from Nebraska!) We have businessmen in jail for importing the wrong subspecies of crustacean, and doctors in jail for choosing the wrong billing code from the 2-inch-thick book of options.

But in the last several months – indeed in the last weeks – there has been a literal torrent of new assaults on our liberty: In November 2014, the G20 countries redefined your money in the bank as something other than money. Therefore, in a banking collapse, you are not really insured and will be last in line behind the big derivative bailouts. Then, Obama used his pen and phone technique to ban 5.56 ammunition. Of course, he just stuck his toe in the water to see what happened, and since he apparently got away with it, nothing prevents him from banning 45s or SUVs or tanning booths, or anything else he despises. But the one that has me totally exercised is the recent position paper by the Department of Health and Human Services, “National Adult Immunization Plan” published Feb 5, 2015.

March 9, 2015, was the last day for public comment about a “Draft National Adult Immunization Plan” – a proposal by the orchestrators of Obamacare to forcibly vaccinate all adult Americans. It sounds very benign on the surface – they do not use the word force or coercion. They say in the prologue:

The NAIP is a five-year national plan. As a national plan, it will require engagement from a wide range of stakeholders to achieve its full vision. The plan emphasizes collaboration and prioritization of efforts that will have the greatest impact. The NAIP also aims to leverage the unique opportunity presented by the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. The NAIP is intended to facilitate coordinated action by federal and nonfederal partners to protect public health and achieve optimal prevention of infectious diseases and their consequences through vaccination of adults.

Is it just my sense of irony or is it a signal to fellow travelers that this is a “Five-year Plan”? Did they hire old Soviet central planners or come up with this all on their own? Anyway, the folks at HHS fully admit this is possible only through the implementation of the ACA, which we are learning is an unaffordable care act but one that allows data collection on every patient of every doctor who accepts federal funding.

Now, I have written several articles outlining my scientific concerns over vaccination. We can have an honest discussion over the science – although so far the critics of my papers have never done so, rather resorting to name-calling and wild pot shots. I still await any actual scientific refutation of my concerns. The closest came with one commentator who cited the falling deaths from childhood diseases, but he failed to examine the entire historical data, which show that over 90 percent of the fall in these diseases occurred before widespread vaccination was adopted. And he fails to note the other factors (Vitamin A and D levels, avoidance of anti-pyretic drugs) that may alter outcomes – it’s not just the vaccination rate.

And I have made the point that the pro-forced vaccination crowd are generally also the pro Roe v. Wade crowd – and you can’t have both. You cannot scream for a “woman’s right to choose” when it applies to abortion but give her no right to choose what gets administered to her in a syringe. The answer I received was this, “Dr. Hieb, you ignoramus” (OK, maybe he didn’t quite say it that way, but I could hear it between the lines), “you know that abortion is a private issue and vaccination is an issue of public health!”

Let me be clear. Public health does not trump individual liberty. End of story.

If you believe the opposite, you can ethically condone forced sterilization, because it improves the health and wholeness of the body politic. Think I’m exaggerating? Between 1897 and 1909 forced sterilization of mentally handicapped was approved into law in Michigan Indiana, Pennsylvania, Washington and, of course, California. And in 1927 such acts were deemed by the Supreme Court “constitutional.” No lesser light than Oliver Wendell Holmes himself justified the decision by saying, “It is better for all the world if, instead of waiting to execute degenerate offspring for crime, or to let them starve for their imbecility, society can prevent those who are manifestly unfit from continuing their kind.”

After the atrocities of the Holocaust, Americans briefly got a conscience about such things and reversed the policies of forced sterilization. But with time, creeping socialism and collective amnesia, old habits and human moral frailties resurfaced so that between 1973-1976 thousands of Native American women were sterilized without their consent by government physicians. And as late as 2010, in California, female inmates were sterilized involuntarily. Of course, these things always are done in the name of society or public health. When Ezekiel Emanuel proposes withholding money for medical care of the elderly he does so in the name of fairness – of using the money wisely, yada yada. We’ve heard this all so many times in so many guises.

Now it is vaccination. And the government toadies are banging the tocsin of Big Pharma that it is in the national social interest that every person be vaccinated against virtually everything. In spite of the recent admission by the CDC that this year the influenza vaccine is only 18 percent effective (I think less based on FDA reports), that vaccine is included in the mandatory slurry that will soon be administered to every adult – if the feds have their way. (By the way, I am not discussing the money-to-Big-Pharma motive, which is really driving the vaccination bus, as this is the subject of another column.)

So, to the point. Like everything else that’s truly important, it is very simple: If you Americans do not stand against this, it’s over. What liberty do you have if the federal government can force you to have a medical procedure, can force you to surrender your very body to their control? Answer: none. Because there is nothing that cannot be justified on the basis of “the good of society.” The Jewish Holocaust, the Great Leap Forward, the killing of the Kulaks, American Eugenics, Tuskegee experimentation, the cold water experiments of Birkenau, Dachau and Auschwitz, all were justified at the time by their respective leaders as for the good of society. Even doctors start believing that they can determine who should die or be sterilized for the good of the whole society. And if you as a doctor have qualms, it is much easier to just throw up your hands and say you have no choice – it’s a government mandate.

The position paper of the Department of Health and Human Services refers repeatedly to consulting the multiple “stakeholders” involved in vaccination decisions: “synergies between state, local, territorial, and tribal governments; health care providers; advocacy groups; vaccine manufacturers; academia and research organizations; payers and health plans; employers; and the general public.” They even cite the military. But, who is the real stakeholder? It is you. There is no “general public” when it comes to decisions about your personal health. No one cares more about the risks versus benefits of vaccination than you do personally. To leave it to a group, to treat you as a member of a group for medical care, is not ethical medicine. It is the stuff of jails and forced labor camps and socialist hellholes – and apparently American academia and bureaucrats. It is time to say no. Although he was probably confused at the time, I’ll quote Al Sharpton: “Resists we much.”

GREECE TO EU: BAILOUT OR JIHAD

Defense minister says if money stops, there will be terror by proxy

Greek Defense Minister Panos Kammenos warns Europe that if no bailout of its economic crisis is forthcoming, his nation will flood Europe with migrants and jihadists, providing them with papers to travel legally throughout the continent.

Greece is expected to go broke this month.

Kammenos said: “If Europe leaves us in the crisis, we will flood it with migrants, and it will be even worse for Berlin if in that wave of millions of economic migrants there will be some jihadists of the Islamic State, too.”

European Union finance chiefs are currently debating whether to continue a bailout plan, with Germany a deciding vote.

“If they strike us, we will strike them,” the official said. “We will give to migrants from everywhere the documents they need to travel in the Schengen area, so that the human wave could go straight to Berlin.” The Schengen area is passport-free.

Only Britain would be spared the threat, if carried out, as it has retained its border controls.

Iceland announces dropping bid to join EU

Iceland has dropped its bid to join the European Union, the Foreign Ministry in Reykjavik says. The announcement follows pledges made by the country’s euro-skeptic government since winning the 2013 election.

Gunnar Bragi Sveinsson, the Icelandic foreign minister, said in a statement that he had informed Latvia, the current EU president, and the European Commission that his center-right government had decided to withdraw its application, which was submitted six years ago.

“The EU and Iceland have discussed the country’s position on the status of its bid to join the European Union,” the statement reads. “The government does not intend to resume preparing for EU membership.”

Prime Minister Sigmundur Davið Gunnlaugsson talked of formally withdrawing the bid in January.

“Participating in EU talks isn’t really valid anymore,” PM Gunnlaugsson told Reykjavík Grapevine at the time. “Both due to changes in the European Union and because it’s not in line with the policies of the ruling government to accept everything that the last government was willing to accept. Because of that, we’re back at square one.”

Iceland applied for EU membership in July 2009, at a time when the global economic crisis was unraveling. By February 2010, the European Commission produced a favorable answer and accession negotiations began in July the same year.

The negotiations came to a stalemate in April 2013, when the election in Iceland was won by the centrist Progress Party, and the conservative Independence Party. When Progress Party’s Gunnlaugsson became prime minister, he froze negotiations with the EU in May 2013.

One of the major issues stalling an agreement was fish catch quotas insisted on by Brussels, something the Icelandic Fishing industry would never have agreed to.

The small island nation, with a population of 325,000, is and will still be a member of the European Economic Area (EEA), the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), the Schengen area and is an EU partner promoting cooperation in northern Europe – meaning it gets many of the advantages of being a full member without many of the negative aspects of centralized EU laws and planning.

If in the future Iceland decides to join the EU, this will be decided only by a referendum, the government said. Iceland will continue to comply with the terms of the EEA and to cooperate with the EU as it has done previously.

Fast Food Giants Losing Cash Desperately Try to Convince You They’re ‘Natural’

In a move that follows the continued loss of profits for fast food giants like McDonald’s, Burger King has announced that it will be dropping soda from its kids meal options — a move that undoubtedly comes as the food chain titans realize that the end of fake junk food is coming quicker than expected.

It’s most certainly no excuse to eat Burger King’s food, which is a GMO-laden chemical mess, however, the announcement signals the ultimate preparation by these companies to start ‘changing’ their brand in order to have any chance at survival in the coming future. A future in which an organic lifestyle is king, and natural/organic restaurants and grocers will be the true financial victors.

That’s why we are seeing a continued growth in the organic market even into 2018, with a 14% increase across the board.

Burger King’s statement, reported by NBC News, is enough to see how the company is attempting to enter this market one step at a time. Unfortunately, they will need to do a lot more than remove soda from their kids menu. After all, they’re replacing these sodas with juices and milks that often contain the same amount of toxic additives like mercury-riddled high-fructose corn syrup (which recently got a name change).

According to NBC:

Fast food for dinner just got a little bit healthier for kids. Burger King is dropping fountain drinks from its kids meals and serving fat-free milk, low-fat chocolate milk, or apple juice instead. Wendy’s made the same move in January. McDonald’s removed pop from its Happy Meals in 2013. It’s all part of a movement to help curb America’s obesity problem.”

Just as McDonald’s is attempting to ‘reinvent’ itself and compete with new natural-based industry leaders, you can bet Burger King is already making such plans. Meanwhile, they will be left in the dust (and probably long after their phony attempts to ‘transform’ their brand).

A close friend and colleague of ours, Simon Peterson, contacted us recently concerning a project he is interested in producing.

Simon has been a faithful missionary for many, many years having spent the past sixteen years in Uganda with his wife and family.

Simon hosts a daily Gospel oriented radio program in Uganda called “Nightlight”. An international edtion of this program is also enjoyed by listeners all around the world.

Simon has recorded audio books of the King James Bible and many classic Christian daily devotionals. He is also overseeing the recording of a number of audio Bibles in East African languages that have never before had a Bible.

In the 1990's Simon also narrated and produced two widely acclaimed documentaries that were translated into numerous languages and seen by millions around the world, "Countdown to Armageddon” and “Beyond Armageddon”.

Simon now has two new projects which he described in a recent news letter.

“An ambitious project for 2015 is to produce one or two new End time videos. Joseph

Candel is already working on a completely updated “Countdown to Armageddon” script.

This will be a completely new video, with new narrations and video footage.

The other video we are praying about would be something like “Beyond Armageddon”, but more centered around Jerusalem, its history, its present situation, and most importantly, its future. It would be filmed in Jerusalem later this year. I’ve invited Robert (of “People of the Keys”) to collaborate with me on the scripting and possibly even the filming of this video. The working title for the documentary is “Oh, Jerusalem!””

In our recent conversations with Simon, we have decided because of the world situation that sooner rather than later would be advantageous. We are now hoping to film in mid (April and complete the filming some time in May.) This has been changed from May to June.

We are therefore making an appeal to you, our readers. We could use help to make this possible. Anything you could donate to help cover the costs of this project would be tremendous.
